  • This video demonstrates some of the format options when setting up the ActiveX calendar control. It also shows setting some date options to effect the outcome of a query.
NOTE: this control is no longer shipped with Access but if you've have an older version installed, it is still there. Recent versions of Access use a popup floatie next to a control containing a date that appears when you're in it.

This video has been resurrected from an older Access tutorial series by DataPigTechnologies. Even though Access looks different now, the concepts and functionality persist. Thanks to owner, Mike Alexander, for making these videos available for presentation once again. Thanks also to Jack Drawbridge and John Clark for helping get these valuable lessons back online.

mscal.ocx is a headache. avoid it if possible. luckily newest versions have a date picker available by default.

thanks for your comment. re: "luckily newest versions have a date picker available by default.mscal.ocx is a headache. avoid it if possible."
Good to avoid ActiveX controls as a general rule ... however, if you can find it and make the OCX file available, it's nice to use.
The biggest problem with the current built-in floating calendar is that there isn't a quick way to switch month or year. That's ok sometimes. When you want something more robust, however, there are links for alternatives to consider in the video description.
