The Akai AS-980 had the distinction of being the widest stereo receiver ever made (25.6 inches)... even including Sansui's G 33000 monster which was a bulkier and heavier receiver of much higher power. But the Akai AS-980 took up more real estate in the width dimension than any.
Those high end amps deserve real speakers, and not those little ones... If the amps are in spec, they turn that speakers in dust in no time. But I think those amps were modified to have less power otherwise those speakers would smoke pretty fast with that Sansui or even with the Akai you have there. For those little speakers can handle the power those amps are not outputing their rated power for sure!
