    Thanks for sharing your winter camping adventure! I'm looking at getting a pop-up, and this helps me understand what to expect in the winter.

    MissMandy, Thank you for sharing your adventures. You are so brave to do these solo trips and sharing the ups and downs is so humbling! I love your travel buddies and the differences in them. One inside and the other outside having a ball.

    When you get home immediately open up the canvas so it can dry out that way you don’t get mold and mildew on the canvas.

      Hey thanks for the comment! It was still snowing and blizzarding but I figured it out and was able to get it open 3/4 of the way in my condo parkade and let it dry out and it was totally good! Sure appreciate the tip tho!

    Word if advice. If you haven't gotten a Chinese diesel heater for your pop up, you should consider it. It sips fuel and is a dry heat.

      Hey bestie!!! It’s actually pretty ok! I just knocked off the 6” of ice sludge from the drive and bobs your uncle! 😂 I’ve been several times since! It’s great! But the PUP is a bit of work overall to set up and tear down when it’s wet or frigid conditions.
      How are the RTT’s? I’m seriously thinking of just sleeping in my Jeep to be able to camp some of the places I want to go!

    • @BlindmanOutdoors
      @BlindmanOutdoors 3 года назад

      Rtt is great, I pulled a small camper before and likely will again soon just as a base camp and to allow Zeus to come and go as he pleases, but it's an excellent option, Mines the two to three person one but so far its just been me and Mr Zeus and a couple friends in it.

    Were you comfortable during this? I'm gonna try to & stay in mine for the winter & use blankets on the walls. It would be average 20 to 30 degrees. Cooler at night

    This was a great video! Couple questions, how warm did it stay in the camper and how much propane did you go through? I would love to do some winter camping in my pop up and was just looking at videos

    • @MandyMakesThat
      @MandyMakesThat  3 года назад +2

      Hey thanks! Glad you liked it!!
      There’s a thermostat on the furnace so I set it at about 65-79degrees. Because it was quite cold overnights it stayed on most of the time so I burned through 1/2 to 2/3 of a 20lb tank in one night. I conserved a bit more by dropping the temp to 60 degrees and layering more and not having it on as much as possible during the day. But I have a second for back up just in case! I highly recommend it though! It’s awesome! I’ve actually only done fall/winter camping as I just got mine in October! I’m excited to see what my first summer in the PUP is like!

    During your winter adventure, what type of heating did you use? Portable propane like the Little Buddy heater? Or up a notch with a Chinese diesel heater?

      Hey thanks for watching! Yes during the winter when I camp I like to go to powered sites for peace of mind. The plan this year is to do more boon docking/dispersed camping in the warmer months! :)

    And did you use reflectix on the windows? Any other winterization techniques? Thanks...

    • @MandyMakesThat
      @MandyMakesThat  3 года назад

      No I actually didn't use any window treatments. Just lots of blankets! It helps to close off one end with the curtains and that helps to keep it warm. I also tucked blankets around the bunk ends to prevent any drafts from coming up and that helped a ton too! But definitely blankets to sleep ON also helps as the mattress pads seem to retain a chill during the colder temps. This year I'll be adding the foam interlocking cubes under neat for some added insulation :)

  • @HerrP58

    I never see the benefit of the tri screen split with blurred images on both ends. Rather see full pics of your camper and pooch!

    • @MandyMakesThat
      @MandyMakesThat  4 года назад

      Those clips were just portrait vs landscape is all. I still wanted to include them so they end up like that when formatted for RUclips.

    Any reason you feel like you have to use the narrow screen to film this? It makes no sense and ruins the overall video.

    • @MandyMakesThat
      @MandyMakesThat  3 года назад +1

      well considering it was my first ever video and was made from instagram story clips that might explain it. But thanks for the comment and for watching (or not) :D

    • @HerrP58
      @HerrP58 3 года назад +1

      Not that she needs any defending, but I still get a lot of great info from YT videos shot in Portrait mode. It's like looking at old pictures in a drawer. Better to have them a little blurry or otherwise less than perfect, then not at all.
