I'm Italian and have quite a bit of experience with Latin pronunciation, I can assure you that 'purpurea' is pronounced poo-r-poo-ray-a (where the 'a' is very similar to the 'a' in 'glass'). Btw... Hi from Italy, 100% adore your content!
purpuea is definitely not the correct one. pur-pur-eh-uh.
@@synthiaify It really depends on how you pronounce the "u" in "pur". It's not like in the verb "purr", the Italian/Latin "u" is very distinct and closed, like, as said, the double "o" in "poo" (or, if you prefer, it's exactly how you'd pronounce "pooh" in "winnie the pooh").

@@mrspeigle1 goldfish surprisingly need a big amount of space to grow to full size a 1-10 gallon or bowl is not suitable and they need something like a 40 gallon or larger 🐸
@@ronaldmcdonald4839 exactly, ppl several underestimate goldfish...a healthy and well taken care of goldfish will grow HUGE
@@cassieclover99 mhm study’s shown that goldfish in the wild thrive better than in captivity and get so big that they overtake populations of lakes witch is why when you release one it can be the size of a catfish or bigger.

The bit with the music while she/he was grooming was sooo cute. Beautiful spider, I have a few different avic avic morph types. I do think tarantulas are like pokemons in how they evolve and often change their features, as well as sometimes attack methods if their temperament changes with a moult :P

Recognized that sling right away… love purpureas, best avic to me! I know the versicolors are flashier but you just can’t beat that deep purple for me. Purpurea was my first T ever, unfortunately I got it as a sling and as in inexperienced keeper with a sling that can be very hard to read and very fickle I lost it after five pretty successful months… hope this one is doing well in your collection, for as gorgeous as these T’s are I don’t see a lot of big names in the hobby that keep them. :D
I got my first sling literally today. It’s a purpuea too but yours is so much bigger😬 I’m definitely worried about something happening to my little guy

It’s hard to lose baby inverts. But I think anyone who keeps animals that, in the wild, have a Type 3 survivorship curve realizes quickly when they watch their babies that, “oh, yeah, you would most likely not have lived to adulthood in the wild.” So I think you’re right that some of keeping slings healthy does boil down to luck.

I just picked up a pink toe the other day. Thanks to your video, I just bought one of the same enclosures. This is my first aborial I have owned. But my mexican red knee is great. My pink toe makes me a little nervous.

Hi Kat, just wanted to say thanks for the content. Yourself and Dark Den's channels have gotten me into the hobby. on another note, earlier today I was in kind of a moral conundrum. I visited my local petco to get some items for my dog and I noticed one of their tarantulas could possibly be in danger. They have a Brachypelma boehmei for sell and it is clearly in premolt. I also noticed that they had about 5 to 6 crickets in the enclosure. As I was checking out I notified one of the employees of the situation. He didn't seem to care much but he did tell me he would let someone know about the situation. In your opinion, did I overstep my boundaries or should I have taken further action and notified the manager? FYI, the tarantula was fairly small around 2 to 3 inches. Thanks again and I hope to hear back from you.

Do you know if this is the southern or northern variety? We've had 4 A. Purpurea ourselves. First was bought as a sp. Ecuador, second was bought as a purpurea (looked different from the sp. Ecuador), and got another 2 as purpurea but they're identical to our first sp. Ecuador in appearance. 🤣

Hey Kat, do you have any tips on feeding slings? I know that tarantulas can go a while without eating but I’m just a little nervous because mine haven’t eaten with me yet
sometimes they are scared of the prey and it's easier to just leave a pre-killed cricket or mealworm overnight

I thought crickets carry parasites? Is that not true?
It is mostly a myth. While I am sure there are some isolated events of contaminated feeders, that can extend to all types (not just crickets) and is rare

so, I suffer from a rare blood disease, Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, and honestly, you said purpurea exactly like purpura, so A: ..I was genuinely confused at the begining, and B: I need one of these guys xD

Omg this video gave me nightmares, I absolutely hate spiders, I don't understand how people like spiders and have them as pets. They are so gross, but you enjoy.
I’m honestly really disappointed with tarantula cribs especially after seeing how they seem to tend to their “famous” buyers. My enclosure came 2.5 months late after being promised a quicker delivery due to urgent need of rehouse and was offered a “freebie” for my troubles and not asking for a refund. The freebie was $1 decor and my arboreal preorder was chipped, false measurements and smelling strongly of chemicals. I’m pretty bummed with their services overall, primal cages is a lot better.

I wish tarantula cribs shipped outside of the US. They look so well made.
not worth the money and shipping cost. acrylic is also not that great in the long run, begins to warm. the only reason they have such a rep is because of youtubers and the free products they give them so they can advertise their prodcuts. if it wasnt for that nobody would be aware of them. What you can do that is much cheaper is scavange or buy used cheap glass aquariums/terrariums. loads of people toss them out. Rip off the old silicone and you can easily cut the glass to your own dimension using a handheld glass cutter and silicone back up. Iv build all my glass tanks, upwards of about 45 with no more than 100 bucks.

I’ve found if you keep Avicularia drier than you think, they do well. I dampen the base substrate and place some dry over it. Water bowl and then when I first place them in the enclosure I give it a good misting. After that I occasionally drop some water on the web or mist. No more than once a week. I’ve raised an Avic avic and two Y. sooretama (similar to Avicularia) that way and all are doing well. Kept my versicolor that way too. She was a juvenile though.

We dont have here those kind of enclosures (or i havent found ones) and i had to buy clear high boxes whitch are used for pasta. :) I drilled holes to the boxes and all my three arboreal T's are doing well in those (A. Purpurea, A, Sp. Peru purple and C. Versicolor). :) Hope this one makes it for you. :)
