I always see Giselle’s ball dress as a representation of the real world, unlike her previous dresses which were frilly and bright that matched the fantasy world she was in, her ball dress is more mature and subtle. Though I understand why everyone thinks its a downgrade, I still like it personally.
it’s also quite ironic for her to wear something so simple to a ball where everyone is dressed like the people from the world she comes from, i think it’s an interesting contrast

(Talking about Enchanted) I love how almost all the women with speaking roles voiced Disney’s animated princesses. Patrick’s secretary is Arielle, also Belle from beauty & beast I think was the soap opera actress? I know she’s someone in Disney at least. Technically Frozen wasn’t a thing yet but of course Idina is in this. And I’m pretty sure those old men with the sunflowers were the chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins. ❤️❤️ There’s a lot of homages if you pay attention and do some research! Lot of love went into this movie.
Was obsessed with dollhouses when I was younger, I’m surprised she didn’t tackle him with a kiss right then and there 😂 I would marry someone who did that for me lol

The authenticity in her pitch is there but also remember she’s also an insecure 13 year old navigating in a 30 year old’s body lol, earlier in the movie she thought she wanted to be the models in the pages of a catalog, so honestly blame her mom for calling models fakes and not real people 😂

I feel like 13 going on 30 makes it’s more intriguing for the younger market. Suddenly 30 doesn’t sound like something I’d watch in middle school if that makes sense
to your point in the Enchanted commentary about how weird it is that Giselle behaves like a child and Robert somehow is into that- the trope is called Born Sexy Yesterday and i hate it. it’s when a female character (this happens a lot in sci-fi movies with AI or robot women) acts like a kid yet is still overly sexual, and the man gets to play the savior and teach her about the world. it’s a problematic trope and never as appealing to the female audience.
