So, I came across your video when I when a client came in with a newer MB Pro with a cracked screen. I found out the hard way that little cable in the corner is the lid angle sensor and without calibrating it, the comp will not go into sleep mode on lid closure. There's a way to manually recal it, but it requires marking the bolt before replacement and then turning the bolt to the proper position after install. I only found out about doing that after I'd already put it back together so I didn't want to take it apart again. Fortunately, I did find a much easier way to recalibrate it, but it required purchasing an almost $200 USD part from Nerd Tool. :( I figure this won't be the only MB I see with a lid sensor cable instead of the old magnetic closure system so it's an investment, but not a cheap one.
I heard from my coworker that the little cable on the side is for sleep wake sensor if you don't transfer it it won't work but if it breaks I am think you maybe SLO if the part is serialized to the motherboard
@@worthitrepairsbymark The screen I got came with a new sensor cable and it worked fine once I used the nerd tool to calibrate it, so it's not serialized. Thankfully, its not in a position where its hard to reattach (looking at you, teeny tiny battery ribbon cable) so there's not much risk of tearing it.
Thank you for the video. I have the same A2485 2021 16" with a vertical line down the screen. EMC 3651. Would mine have an A) ambient light sensor B) Promotion (120hz refresh) p3 wide color C) anti reflective coating ?
Thanks for the video. I used it to successfully replace my display (a thumbtack on my keyboard cracked the screen when i closed the lid). Only issue I encountered was that the battery wasnt charging at all. Discovered the small battery connecter was loose and not making contact. Fixed !! Thank you!
Thanks for the info everything was spot on. Two questions. 1) where is the best place to buy am OEM replacement screen? 2) I lost a screw to the hinge cover (Not hinge) do I need both or will one work?
Bought a supposedly OEM screen and there is a huge gap by the hinge and the bottom cover is warped when it's screwed down. found the screw by the way. oh yeah I thought you replied to comments?
Thanks for the video! I opted not to reinstall the pesky LCD clips and everythings seems to be working fine without them. Just too much of a hassle to spend that much time with.
This video was so informative!! I was able to replace the screen on a MacBook Pro thanks to your detailed instructions!! Thanks so much my friend!!🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yes it is.... It will work but there will be glitches on the screen, true tone won't work and there are light spots.... I went through 2 screens because I thought one was defective
@@Sur_GalaChad2189 What did you do in the end? I am in the same situation and considering buying a new one unfortunately and selling my current laptop for spares. If I go to apple to repair it, its too costly and doesn't justify the cost.
I saw a video of this dude swapping screens and there were weird shapes and issues after the swap. Is that not a thing anymore or do you need to use a Genuine Apple part and have them activate it?@worthitrepairsbymark
Hi I did follow all guide and it seems everything should be working but my MacBook boots only with power plugged it. all plugs of battery connected. tried to disconnect and connect again. but still laptop runs only on power. what could go wrong? could it be that battery connector is screwed? I was really careful and don't see any damage at all. pleasea advice.
So did the repair and now my battery doesn’t work at all. Without my computer being plugged in, it will just shut off. I think it’s because of the very small battery connecter but I’ve tried everything and I think it may be ruined. I would definitely recommend emphasizing the importance of that particular part in the future.
@@Curbsidepickuprecords I will do that in the future for sure. I will look at it for free if you ship it to me. Email me mark@icarefargo.com Things to try would be to make sure the T5 screw is screwed down all the way. I would also check the connector on the battery side to make sure it’s not loose.
thank you for the tutorial I wanted to know if I ordered it on aliexpress with the reference would it work in the comments some say that the screen is linked to a serial number?
I don't know what you could try is disconnecting the screen instead of fully taking the screen off to see if it works. Before doing all the work take it off.
Great replacement guide. I replaced my screen but now when I close the lid, the display does not turn off or go into sleep mode. The display just stays on, I am wondering if this is common or it is a magnet issue? Anyone had this issue and found a fix? Thanks.
Is this Apple trying to prevent us from repairing our devices? a damaged lid angle sensor? I am now having to power off and then close lid and then open lid and power on.
@@jordz121 You may able to fix it with the Apple OEM part and then part pair the part through their program please email me for any details or ideas I may have at mark@worthitrepairs.com LETS FIX IT!

hey guys. So I cracked my macbook pro M1 pro 16 " display and now Im looking for the cheapest way to replace it. Im thinking into buying the lcd (without frame) from Aliexpress for 350 AUD, and then doing a IC swap with the chips from the original screen(150 AUD). I know a guy how does micro soldering and would be able to do a nice job, Im just afraid the aliexpress LCD will not be compatible with the IC from the original screen. Does anyone knows if that would work or have any suggestion? Thank youuu xxx

Is there any reason you wouldn't be able to swap the displays on identical A2485 models?
An A2485 is an A2485 so it should not matter

I don't think you do on this one

Unsure but on the other MacBooks that I tried l broke the LCD almost 99% of the time.

Does the built-in camera work after swapping the displays? Thanks
Yes
This will not allow the LCD to shut off since the displays are locked via serial #
