  • How RC servos work! TL:DR? servos are motors that use a built in feedback loop and controller to provide positional (proportional) control. Because potentiometers aren't continuous, servos usually have limited range according to how the servo is geared. You can make them continuous if you bypass the pot, but you lose positional control in favor of just direction (and speed if your built in controller does that).
    Today taking a look inside a cheap servo and discussing some key differences, gearings, construction, why some are continuous rotation, etc.

    hi, good video, very informative, im looking to build an ornithopter, and i dont understand very good how to build the gearbox, i know it must have a motor but i dont know waht kind of motor, i guess it should be a continuous motor but which one? do you know it?

    greetings, i am very new to this servo, i have a cys s0009 servo, my question is how do i find out whether it is a continuous or those positional ones, it has the typical 3 wires and no analog feed back wire...
    use a small rtn in arduino ... but i do not seem able to turn it to a position like 45 degrees...so did i buy the wrong servo...sounds like it;
    your video was very educational, thanks, and thanks for your attention

      That's an older one that came with an inexpensive RC plane. You can get all kinds of servos from amazon, servocity, robotzone, hobbyking and many other places.

      :c im looking for a low friction servo so i can move it easily with my hand as u did on the video whith that one
