The Chinese Communist Party doesn't recognize the Taiwanese state and threatens reunification by force. I wonder if the people seen smoking here are smoking Opium. The two Opium Wars with the British were historically significant. Some think the modern day export of precursor chemicals for Fentanyl is a way of payback to the West for the Opium issues of the past.
