I’ve been listening to a CD set of Rachmaninov’s complete piano works for a bit over a year now thinking I’d get to like them better than I did on first hearing. They’ve grown on me rather less than I thought they would. Except for this waltz which I’d never heard before getting the CD. It’s delicious, what I’d hoped the rest would be. Wonderfully played here.
They really killed this, world-class playing. My only cavil is that, being something of a sap, I like the waltz half a hair slower. But no matter, a very satisfying performance, and it's again apparent that the conservatories in Pacific Asia are taking over the piano world. 😄
