Shield 380. Kool. Should have improved the original BG380. Most semi's have a slide catch. Not a release which is why that part is so hard to operate. The concept being. Hold open on the last round and then a quick pull back on the slide to release it. 1911's have a slide "release". That's why it's larger and easy to find and work once reloaded.
Just got mine, polished the 2 part feed ramp right out of the box. stuffed both mags and racked the slide. going to let it sit like that for a week. should help soften it up a bit. Ive done this with all my handguns.
What did you have to do to loosen the gun up a bit? I bought one... Haven't picked it up yet (State has a waiting period), but when I handled it, I couldn't believe how stiff everything was. I couldn't even release the slide using the slide release. The safety, I could move, but dang was it hard on my finger! BTW, I noticed the front sight wasn't centered. Ordered a sight pusher so I can fix it, once I take possession.
Hey Joe, I racked that slide with a chair on the hard ledge by the sights (Laid some paper napkins first to not scratch the chair or slide) 100 times in the course of a day or two, than I kept racking it each day. By the end of the week I could rack it much easier than when I got it), The safety was alot more difficult than the slide with how small it was, I used two hands in the beginning than later one thumb. After the two weeks of racking plus some mags at the range, It was much easier. My other 380 the ruger lcp was much like the bodyguard with everything being incredibly stiff, it took alot of racking (dry firing) to get things to be more smooth. I would recommend before heading to the range just racking it for a week to two weeks. Try not to callous your thumb, that safety sucks in the beginning. For the sights, I've heard of it being off centered, not in my case for myself, same goes for the recoil spring being difficult to reinsert (there's a trick to the spring) I'll make a follow up video on issues that were easily remedied. Let me know if you got any other questions.
"...front sight wasn't centered" - Oh, yeah! There is a guy on RUclips, who bought THREE Bodyguards 2.0 (he likes this gun), and it all has the front sight significantly off-center! Looks like they smoked something bad at S&W :)
It loosens up after you shoot it, mine was stiff until after a couple hundred rounds of fmj's through it. Also my thumb safety was barely functional when new it was so stiff and after working it off/on a couple hundred times it's very smooth. And lastly, the magazines loosen up with use as well
Quick question.. Where the safety is, can you see a silver wire? I haven't seen anyone mention it anywhere, but I noticed it when I was looking at mine, while at the FFL.
Yeah I can see, it's on the left side. It's a spring for the safety, I believe to keep it captive in place. I'll make an update vid on holster recommendations, ammo, and comparisons to full size 9s and other 380s. Have a good one.
Im intrigued by this firearm but im kinda hesitant. I bought a used original bodyguard and it was by far the worst handgun imaginable. Ftf, FtE, light primer strikes. In fact the recoil would knock the plastic mag release out and the mag would constantly fall out all of the time. I might rent this one sometime though and see if i like it.

Wish my shield plus had those slide serrations that the bodyguard 2.0 has

It's an American thing....
Poor quality with a big mouth...
Good review. Thanks.
Nice & logical review.

Stop the drama.
Stick to facts...
needs to shaved down mag release button 2-3mm
At 9.8 oz even a 380 round will be snappy but then all micro pistols are snappy. Felt recoil. I would rather go with the M&P EZ 380.
i want the bodyguard 2.1 not the 2.0... will wait a couple of years
Why?
@brandonlee4089 could never get fully loaded mags to work reliably, especially in a +1 or closed slide condition... that and an overstiff safety
*I'm jealousing!* 🤩😍 🤤
Good toy! Good review. Liked!👍
Jealousing?
