I just use a diaper bag and always look like I'm looking for my kids. Total gray-man. It's like having an all access pass, and people don't ask questions. LOL
I also have some safety glasses and a mask in my bag, a small bottle of water tucked into one outside pouch and a few pair of latex gloves stuffed into the other side patch. It's also a very lovely aquamarine color, just right for a girly bag that no one would think had any self-defense items in it. Gosh, I can't believe everything I have gotten into this really small sling bag.
You are spot on about the safety glasses. A tree limb can cause a major eye injury if your having to move quickly through the woods. Heck even slowly, especially at night.
My max oak big boy fell out of my Jeep and went unnoticed. It got hooked on my rear bumper and got dragged through about 11 miles of Jeep trails in the San Bernardino mountains in SO Calif. not a single tear . That was over 10 years ago and that bag still serves me daily. Great stuff for sure.

I have been meaning to set up a small bag such as this. I've got the bag, just need to get off my duff. Thanks for the tips (and the inspiration!) One tip I have learned is that any time you have batteries (especially AA or AAA batteries) in a flashlight or other equipment that may not be accessed very often, or are subject to temperature swings, avoid using the NiMh batteries, as they have a tendency to leak chemicals and ruin electronics. The newer lithium ion batteries (I have been switching mine out to Energizer Ultimate lithium) don't seem to have this problem. The last thing you want is to be in a situation where your emergency equipment is needed, only to find that it is unusable.
Man I remember the older video you made over 8 years ago! That's one of the main ones that got me into prepping for edc and other things too! I've invested alot of money since then into different sized bags & packs, knives, flashlights, firearms and all sorts of other stuff too! Thanks for all the work you do Sootch!! May God bless you and your family!! 👍🙏
@Sensible Prepper, this is a great comprehensive video. I use my more compact sling bag which I call my grab and go bag way more often than my larger backpack that I keep in the cargo area of my kia. It doesn't have to have everything in it, is lighter, and I really can grab it and go, yet have my fire kit, a "get off me" device, pepper spray, a bag of organic turkey jerky from Trader Joe's, a Thru Nite fabulous flashlight courtesy of the Sootch00 Patreon channel, emergency cash, some miniaturized ID documents, a flash drive with information on it and a blank flash drive, and a fat package of bath wipes for staying clean, an extra pair of reading glasses, a compass and a multi-tool, a boo-boo kit, and a little notebook and pen. All of that fits in a sling pack that's smaller in area than a dinner plate. And you just reminded me about a headlamp. There's room for that and for some extra batteries. Now all I need is a tourniquet.
Hi Don, Great Video. Just a suggestion. I am sure you have heard the statment "Like Dissolves Like" Your Vasoline (a petrolem product) soaked cotton balls were sealed in a small Ziplock. The plastic Ziplock baggie is also a petrolem product. When you least expect it, maybe not right away, you will eventually have a gooey mess in your bag when the Vasoline eats its way through the Ziplock baggie, If I may suggest using a small / tiny aluminum pill container or tiny pico container from County Comm for your petrolem soaked cotton balls.
Good content Don.. I would also suggest to add "Over the counter" meds. You don't need much space for Advil, Tylenol and Ammonium (I also keeps Tums in my bag as well)
I carry very similar as my EDC on body and bag. The Phlster PEW and Flatpack TQ carrier with SOFTT-W, Rite in the rain, M2R Warrior, Leatherman Rebar, mini fixed blade, Bic and zippo are on body along with firearm and mag. In my bag is very similar setup which has a larger Trauma Kit with Gen 7 CATs, chest seals, pressure dressing, spare gloves and eye pro, fire steel, bic, and other basics like Nalgene bottle, OLight H2R headlamp and small Black Diamond Spot 325. I like some small Storacell cases in a ziplock for my AAAs, and Other batteries. This allows my headlamp to double runtime to finish a repair or setup a basic camp. Typically I do not carry any ammo or mags in bags for risk of forgetting larger cap mags or JHP ammo and accidentally traveling into NJ with them. This could result in a felony for 1 mag over 10. No one I know is carrying spare mags or ammo in a GHB or car kit for this reason. But that stuff is with the go bag, throw and go. No trouble in NJ either. I believe the tiered approach to everything, I have my EDC bag for urban area I'm in 90+% of the time, a GHB in my trunk with spare water and food for 2 people along with warm clothes, sleep gear. I have myself a B.O.B. as well as my get home bag for my vehicle. How ever going to work or walking around, used a messenger bag, so my pockets and looks gray man style. I add the stuff I can add without making it heavy as well.
Spare batteries in a small pill bottle with the top sealed so they do not get wet. As well as a couple 9 V batteries and an adapter to charge your phone
Adding a small zip tie around the button of the bic lighter prevents your lighter from losing its fuel and can be removed and replaced once zipped, clipping the extra length makes it a little sharp though can be filed to prevent cuts. Plus the adhesive sticker is also flammable, once you have a empty lighter if the wheel is removed slowly the springs can be made into a snare & fishing hook and the childproof metal can be removed and can also be made into a fishing hook.
100 times i say - *zip ties!* a million uses!!! i've fixed everything from motorcycles to basic attachment needs with zip ties. I also keep a folded, 6" section of 1.95" bicycle tube (common mtb size) for makeshift rubber bands - cut as needed. keeping the complete 6" (+/-) section handy also helps you get a better a grip on slippery, threaded things. love the "scam-demic" comment! 😉 so true!!!

Maxpedition makes bags so that a right hander can use their left hand to open the zipper and at the same time your right hand is ready to remove your firearm. The zipper is reversed from the bag in the video. Also I have always found the bag in the video to be a little small for CC; it is just a little too tight on the hand. Another bad thing about the Maxpedition bags is they are well made and neat looking; people notice them.

@@critterfestsanctuary2446 I guess all of the medical training I have received and continue to receive from doctors, PAs, and paramedics is wrong then?
*Sootch/Sensible* , I like the bag set-up - I have a 5.11 Push Pack - and I certainly don't pretend to be more of an expert than you, but I'd have to question why you have 3 flashlights and 4 ways to start a fire in this very compact bag. I get the whole "2 is 1 and 1 is none" thing, but it seems like you could get rid of a few of those (admittedly small) redundant items and add other "stuff". Not sure what... maybe a whistle? More medical (burn cream, bug bite/sting gel, alcohol wipes)? Tube with some extra cash? Even perhaps a pocket charger with iPhone (or Android) cable? Anyway... good stuff as always!
A year and a half ago I bought the Jumbo Versipack and I was using it as my EDC bag. Just yesterday I was updating it because I'm about to start carrying it again.
I live in Canada we can not carry firearms. What I do carry is a knife and a good one. I'm OK with it. I like your ideas for things to carry. Thank you for your video. One thing I like to carry is an extra pair of boot laces.
I always have a bag of aome kind usually a rush 12 or 24 depending on how much back pain i want and while i try to keep redundancies to a minimum i always have the essentials except for a full sized knife which i can't risk carrying on a college campus.
If it rains my buddy freaks out and grabs his bag and throws it in the truck. If something were to actually happen within an hour he will be in the woods standing under a tree with his bag lol. Im like dude how stupid you have a double brick home thats built like fort and an amazing storm cellar and your going to run into the woods and leave everything behind. You stocked up prepper pantry. Your farming and majority of your hunting and fishing gear behind and his responce is ya but I will be prepared. Prepared for what when you have a can of tuna some matches a knife and a sleeping bag. The guy is crazy lmao. Well at least I will know where to go to get left behind supplys lol.
I'm having trouble finalizing what stuff and bag because so many things can happen or not happen. And if I need to evacuate in 5 seconds realistically I won't feel inclined to take a full backpack ... and it all depends on if I will get to return to the house. Like look at Paradise fire. They couldn't return.
Wow, so much stuff in that small bag. But I could have all those things and the bag and not be able to fit it all in so well, lol. I can not afford such brands, but I found a tech gadgets bag at my local Goodwill store that works just like that Maxpedition one, but for like $1. Love watching your videos Sooch!
Check your bag over for damage? LOL. You aren’t a force recon marine gearing up for your next mission. Your bag is in brand new condition, just like it was the last time you gently placed it in your car on the way to Home Depot.
Nice load-out. I just put a kit together in a Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack. Your kit has more admin supplies than mine, and that got me thinking maybe I should add some things. I ordinarily don’t like the sling packs (I prefer regular backpack style), but I wanted something to compliment my edc gear, and a backpack was just a little too much space.
I have to pick up a new bag, my small EDC bag has a little ripping by the carry handle/shoulder strap. Very similar setup though, my blow-out kit is a separate pouch on the side of my bag, and I carry my TX22 with 50 extra CCI Mini Mags. Good video!
I use an assortment of bags, I have too many bags Because I watch videos like this all the time
I'd throw in one of those small rain ponchos. It's not much, but better than being soaked. Maybe a space blanket.
You can turn the headlamp inside out, wrap it around a gallon jug filled with water and it really expands the light to fill the room.
I just use a diaper bag and always look like I'm looking for my kids. Total gray-man. It's like having an all access pass, and people don't ask questions. LOL

@@ThatGuy-fg1gv not at all. It can be used for many things.
@@critterfestsanctuary2446 I guess all of the medical training I have received and continue to receive from doctors, PAs, and paramedics is wrong then?
I’m thinking about buying a new bug out bag backpack what backpack should I buy
I am a little crazy with the flashlights too :) .
outstanding video. love this small bag approach. got a ton of useful bugout things in a compact style always at the ready!!
I forgot to mention the tube of Carmex. Carmex beats any other chapstick product in the entire universe.
I have this bag since 3 years and it's fantastic. You can add a pouch on the strap for a cell phone. Tasmanian Tiger offer one.
I use the Maxpedition Wolfspur. It’s a murse and I love it.
You can hold a flashlight to a bic lighter to tell how much fluid is in it.
Thanks as always Sootch.
It’s a “murse” and it’s ok!
Not a murse when I carry it!
No.
I live in Canada we can not carry firearms. What I do carry is a knife and a good one. I'm OK with it. I like your ideas for things to carry. Thank you for your video. One thing I like to carry is an extra pair of boot laces.
Nothing screams I’m carrying a firearm and knife like Maxbedition .
Check out the small Osprey bags.
Nothing wrong with screaming I’m carrying a firearm and knife... jk I know what you mean😆
consider an external battery for your phone
I would add a pair of Wells Lemont leather gloves In there. They don't take up much space, but are tough as hell.
I thought I was the only one that carried so many lights.
Great video bag Lady. I mean dude. I’ll be back to revisit this one great set up
Great set up
Dude you had 3 of everything in this bag.. nothing like you described the bag when the video started 😂
Good looking bag and very nice set up.
Putting a vertx edc go bag together now.
Thinking of getting this or the mobious v2
Check your bag over for damage? LOL. You aren’t a force recon marine gearing up for your next mission. Your bag is in brand new condition, just like it was the last time you gently placed it in your car on the way to Home Depot.
Welcome back, SP!
Good review. Be ready instead of getting ready.
Do you ever feel ready? I always feel I need more training and supplies.
The Maxpedition handbag, feminine but manly at the same time.
A metro-sexual Maxpedition.
Thanks for sharing. This is very helpful and informative.
Good video!
helpful. Thanks.
That purse looks just like Indiana Jones' purse. 😆
Good ideas. Thanks for the video!
“I don’t have one in here because I took it out “. That’s great.........LoL
Great video
This bag can be my salmon fishing bag up here in Alaska.
Sawyer mini is not much bigger and 100,000 gallons, I get redundancy, but your fire, torch and knives are OTT with redundancy. Zero shelter items?
Big help, thanks
I cant seem to find that small blast match you showed. I have the normals
Awesome video! Love the channel brother
I would include a cheap poncho or two, and maybe a space /thermal blanket
Thank you for the video.
What is the brand of this bag and where can I buy one..?
