fish tank (2023)

This video began as an exploration of my relationship with the external world, encompassing both my spiritual and material existence. Through ambiguous visuals and sound, I aimed to convey the sensation of alienation from oneself. The guitar, performed by Eren Simsek from a graphic score I composed, provided the initial recording. Building upon this, I created new audio material by layering synths and incorporating my voice. I read aloud a poem I wrote on this theme, intertwining it with improvised elements.
fish tank
sticks stick to my bones
flowers in six days will sprout
and pick me from my petals
from what i'm left
a shower of sound
or maybe touch
or what's left
bruises touch
washed down in a faded ray of palette
my anatomy could be a framework for anything really
something of utter importance
like a fish tank
