Madeline and The Yellow Bird - Pastel Painting

This painting started as a demo for my online workshop last weekend - I loved so much, so I added the bird and the background. I think the painting looks very classical :)
Anyway, because it was a demo so I couldn't film the entire the process. So please enjoy it!
I used CarbOthello Pastel pencil on Sennelier La Carte paper.

Hello master. I have noticed that first a grisaille or value scale is made with green tones and then the representative warm color is added.
Some time ago I read that French portrait painters used this technique or a similar one, using blues and, likewise, English portrait painters used green, revealing behind the glazes and uncovered areas such as the effect that the tone of the skin acquires on the internal blood. (or something like that)
Is that the technique, is it simply a grisaille to first obtain a study of tonal values ​​or a combination of both?
