This song was ahead of it's time, if not still ahead of it. It's really compareable to modern synthwave etc. Songs, Gigi Masin really cooked in the 80s
I remember listening to this, late at night, at Art Center College of Design, in the hills above Pasadena, California…in late fall in the early ‘90s…with a chill in the air coming in…and a light rain but a gathering thunderstorm outside…while sculpting in clay, in my transportation design class, a model automobile of The Future…(in hindsight, a future which never arrived). This track was so inspirational then, in helping me to imagine mysterious possible tomorrows (as it was a design for a car of 2015-which was then still a quarter century ahead), beyond the murky veil that was to be the turn of the 21st century.
@@kaibomo There were several European students at Art Center in the car design program at the time; also in nearby Los Angeles, there was a Tower Records that had a decent “Import” section, and a staff who prided themselves on being super knowledgeable about the avant-garde artists. As students we would challenge each other to bring in new music every other week that we thought no one else had heard. Then we would make a “best of” compilation to listen to during the long hours creating color renderings and clay models of cars for optimistic tomorrows.
Damn bro, that was very well written. Captures the feel of this track very well. Although I wasn't even born at that time, I feel like I have memories of experiences from a time before I was born, just from that story combined with this track.👍🏽
what is your opinion on Ian Callums redesign of the jaguar xk in 2006? was that aligned with the design language of the expected future at the time? I know he drew it up back in the 90s
@@h7pubg In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s nearly everything coming out of the Art Center transportation design department somewhat echoed-and was slightly ahead of-concept cars of the era. That design language could best be summed up as super aerodynamics achieved by biomorphic/organic forms. Look at the car designs of Luigi Colani. Or the flying police car in Back to the Future 2. Or the production 1996-1999 Ford Taurus. Ovoids. (Or “blobjects” as detractors called that styling philosophy.) The ‘96-‘05 XK was more like this. The ‘06 Callum redesign was starting to bring in the new trend of adding back into the detailing some straight lines and hard corners. (Ford-which owned the Jaguar brand at the time-and Cadillac concepts of the late ‘90s had this “new edge” philosophy.) The front end styling of the ‘06 XK was intended to harken back to the ‘61 E-Type. (It reminded me though of the ‘95-‘99 Buick Riviera.)
+will realms simple poly synth patch with a really quick filter envelope, my nord lead has a patch on it i made on it that sounds quite like it only much more droney sounding
"yes, the recording process was very quick thanks to our expert engineer Ermanno Velludo and the funny cats coming and going through the door... Gigi used the cheapest synth available (a Korg Poly 800) with excellent results"
This song, and "Clouds" are 2 of my favorite compositions of all time. That rhythm, that sound, the feeling it gives off. One is so happy, and this one is so.. almost painful, in a beautiful way. It's raw hurt and sadness, but it's a relief at the same time. That's what I feel from this. Like finally crying after holding something in for years. This is the moment you let it out, process it, and can finally heal. A type of necessary pain. (healthy and normal, yet very depressing) pain that eventually leads to growth. This feeling shouldn't be dwelled on for too long, but it is unmatched, and undeniable. Everyone has been there, or they will one day. Even if they don't call, even if no one shows up to save you? You're going to hold on, and you're going to live to find the happiness you deserve. And if they do call? Pick up the phone. Be receptive to someone reaching out to you. It could change both of your lives for the better.
Idk how to feel but this song is like a trance a reality we all want to believe but will never become true a glimpse of hope in a terrible situation both sad and joyful.
Beautiful indeed, one could easily be tempted to splash out €705 (!) for hearing more... Perhaps the poster of this song is actually the seller of the €705 lp...

A bit of an old comment but I'm curious how you discovered this back then.. connections from Italy?

a heartwrenching, special song.
This has been my favorite song of all time since I first heard it in 2013. It still floors me, every single time I hear it.
This was about the time I heard it as well. I feel like this is an Important protovapor anthem... that needs to be heard by everyone.
I imagine this is what you would hear when passing from this world to the next.
Ahead of its time.
A calming song...
its kind of sad for me lmao
