I picked up the 2023 signature trim about two weeks ago. I haven't done much high way driving but i can tell you city drive, i have being averaging 19/20 mpg. Its a gas gulpler
@@dylanhughes5944 Any car will do great in this way of testing (highway), the real test is in city, and this car will only get 19-21mpg, with normal traffic.
The reason why the CX5 gets excellent highway fuel economy when comparing to its competitors in the same class is because of its cylinder deactivation feature. The 4 cylinders engine can deactivate 2 cylinders when it cruises on the highway. I own a 2018 non turbo CX5 it gets highway fuel economy above 36 mpg on long road trip at 60+ mph.
My Forester with the somewhat high profile is effected by the wind quite a bit, the fuel economy goes up a lot with the wind at my back and goes down substantially with a head wind.
I’m getting 27-28 mpg combined…80% city, 20% highway. I think that’s pretty good. The worst I got in in-town driving only was 24 mpg. I’ve been burning 93 octane and I’m convinced it’s quicker and gets better mileage. Even though the consensus is that this 2.5 aspirated is lacking on the highway, I haven’t felt it to be an issue. Around town, it can be a jackrabbit with the way it’s geared and that torque from a high compression motor. It’s a blast to drive…I love it!
I am getting 33.5 city on a good day, even though my 2024 GX is just shy of 200 miles, so it isnon it break in phase and during Winter in Canada. But traffic is light for the most part in my city and I go to the office at 6 AM when there is almost no traffic.
It also gets less gas mileage because it’s a naturally aspirated engine. Which is a good thing!!!! The turbo engines get a couple MPG’s more, but the engine will not last as long
That's rough for a small suv. My '15 Canyon that I traded in averaged 17mpg in flat Florida and had a 21 gallon gas tank. My '22 Cx5 Carbon Non-turbo is averaging close to 26mpg. That's mostly in town and around 30 on the hwy. I cruise just under 70mph and live in a hilly area now.
Absolute Crock.. You Must be going dealership brand to dealership brand to tow the 20 foot caravan you have. Getting 32mpg it is like 18-22mpg Taking brand new cars at such low miles. It is a NEW CAR. 32MPG!? Bahaha. I can back it up Lead foot..
If you drive a Mazda CX-5, let me know what MPG you're getting in the real world!
I get 9,5l per 100km in city and 7.8l per 100km at the autobahn.
We drive same amount every day , same roads ... A solid 8 liters per 100....7.8 if I'm slower .
26.5
I have a 2024 2.5 S Carbon (non turbo) 70/30 highway/city - avg 27.9 - 28 mpg. (NY)
I’m getting 27-28 mpg …80% city …20% highway.
I love this little jackrabbit around town. I’m burning 93 octane and I swear it makes it quicker.
CVT, 8-speed, and 10-speed transmissions are more complicated and are more likely to break. I prefer a well-proven 6-speed in all cases.
True, the 6 speed is bulletproof
If you want long term reliability 6 speed is the way to go, it still gets great mpg for an AWD suv

heavy traffic? any car would be a gas guzzler there except for hybrids

Average 25 in the city up to 28 on the highway
Thats turbo
Love your reviews. I'm getting a CX 5 at the end of the year.
Thank you Camus!
Appreciate your efforts, you're awesome 👍

Best i got was 25 with my 2019 cx5 gs 4wheel drive. What magic is this??!🤯🤯🤯
I have a 2021 cx5 non-turbo awd. I do uber, mixed driving i get 30-32 every tank. 35+ all highway
Wow in have the 2021 Turbo but 20mpg and the gas tank is is 12.9 not 15 like advertised
@@NkNk-vg8fci bet that turbo a lot of fun though
I would much rather have a 6 speed and slightly lower gas mileage then a CVT transmission though
Can someone tell me why am I getting 21 - 22 mpg!

I took a 700 mile trip in my 2019 F150 5.0 and got over 30 mpg going 75 to 80. So RAV4 it is. lol
Thank you for this video!!!
Thank you for watching!
I get 27.4 mpg combine more on highway driving though. Everyday i drive 50 miles roundtrip to work and back home.
Turbo or non turbo?
@@sreerajkdy none turbo
@@sreerajkdy turbo I get 17-19 not good
Does this model has the cylinder deactivation feature? I know that can bump up the mpg a little on joghway
It does not

I've been consistently getting 23.8 City and 30 highway on regular fuel. If I find non ethanol fuel I have gotten that up to 35 mpg
I just got 36.5 on 87 non ethanol
It’s the best I have got so far❤❤❤
It also gets less gas mileage because it’s a naturally aspirated engine. Which is a good thing!!!! The turbo engines get a couple MPG’s more, but the engine will not last as long
I’ve seen people say they were getting 35 mpg
Does the CX 5 use standard or premium gas?
87 octane is recommended from the factory. If you have a turbo it will put out a bit more power if you use higher octane gasoline
I’ve been burning 93 octane in my 2.5 non turbo. It runs dang good and feels quicker to me.
I just bought one 6 months ago 2022 Base trim and its getting 20.1 MPG here in Los Angeles. I hate it.
Mine is worse 17-18 Turbo engine
Woww its just as good as the cx-30 with more interior space.
I’ll wait for the hybrid model!
70 miles per hour is not the speed that the EPA numbers .....Different speeds give different gas readings .
My 2024 cx5 turbo ,, the gas is ass . It runs out so quick compared to my 09 civic
Is it 4x4 ? Have you tested it with higher speeds like 80 or 90 ?
Yes this is a 4x4. I did not do a fuel economy test at higher speeds, but you could expect it to be quite a bit lower at 80 or 90 MPH.
33.5 combined ?
This was a pure highway test
City probably 26.
If you let this engine breakin to after say 3 oil changes it may get 35mpg on the same cycle
By computer wife gets in surburban driving 23 mpg....on hwy avg 70-75 mph around 30 mpg.
Excellent videos, can you do a test with the standard rav4 please (FWD), regards!
I will try to find one to test!
I would like to see this with a TURBo
Mine Cx5 2021 Carbon Turbo 17mpg and has tank 12.9 gallon. I luv the car but this is bad
15.5 I believe is the tank capacity

EPA IS NOT BASED ON 70 MPH. AT 55 U WOULD BE GETTING 40 OR MORE
At 55 MPH I would be run off the road by big rigs in my area. That’s why the title says “real world”
Do you own this car ? Is this your own car ?
No
