Pete, your videos are great. Enjoy it a lot. Uriah Help so leyendary band. This album is great to listen and has no fillers ! What you said about the stages of this band for 50 years now is totally true. Good review ! I never gave up on this band. Never ages away and the proof is heard within this and previous albums. Cheers !
Superb review Pete! Loving new Heep, loving the last album! My favorite from last two decades is still "Wake The Sleeper" but this one is very very good too!
Thanks, Pete I will have to put " Living the Dream" on my must buy list! I have bought "Sons of Apollo " and "Mastodon's" latest "Emperor of Sand" , due to your recommendations! Enjoyed them both! Keep doing what your doing! Maybe we can all grow musically from your great choices of music ! I have! Thanks, again!
Great channel Pete - your videos are very entertaining. A suggestion for some more:- Maybe you could tell the listeners what your top ten songs are from some of your fav. bands i.e. the top10 Uriah Heep, Deep Purple etc etc. You could then ask them to list their top 10 in the comments section.
Solid review man. I am glad you made mention of the old versus new and the fact that some folks stop listening to a band after a lineup change or the like. I think folks that do that are cheating themselves out of a quality listen and not allowing themselves to expand their horizons. And I totally agree that this is a great record
It is indeed a shame that some cannot open up their minds to accept something new from a band they love back when they were younger. I don't understand it myself, but so many people are like this.
Great review! Grazed By Heaven, Living The Dream and Take Away My Soul are such a powerful triple threat. Mick's guitar has never sounded as good as it does on this album. Just an amazingly great album.
You hit it on the head Pete! The new album blew me away when I first put it on. It's been my personal favorite of theirs of all in this century. Wake the Sleeper is awesome, but I like this one better. Uriah Heep is a band that does not get enough attention for the work they've been doing since the classics of the 1970's.
Great review, love the enthusiasm for the classic periods of artists, but also understanding that, by only appreciating the band at their commercial or artistic height, so much amazing music will pass you by.
Listening to this now and it's a keeper. Classic heep. Love the Hammond organ. Although the track:"goodbye to innocence" reminds me of death ally driver by Rainbow.
I think they recorded this album in 19 days! Pretty much agree with everything you said. I especially like Wake the Sleeper. Ken Hensley's recent albums are awesome too.
Yes, indeed they are! Ken has a red hot band these last few years and he's also returned to that classic Heep sound. Shame he and the boys can't get it together once again, but Phil Lanzon is tremendous so it's no biggie.
I have that same conversation with anyone who dismisses the later Lynryd Skynryd albums. Different era & lineup. You can't compare Vicious Cycle to Second Helping.
In the mid-seventies I was a huge UH fan, but lost my interest when David Byron left. Likely John Lawton, who replaced him, was a better singer but I didn't like the direction of where the music was going. A few years ago I saw them live and was surprised how intense they played. As if it was their last performance. Better than I thought. But somehow I'm stuck in the Byron area...
Lawton was arguably the best singer this band ever had, but I agree, the music got a tad mellow & folky in spots on those 3 that he sang on, though some great material on them to be sure. I've seen them 3 times in the last decade and they really kick ass live still! I'd say all their new material since the late '80s is very much in the spirit of their early/mid '70s stuff, with a modern touch. Out of all the legacy bands from that era that are still creating new music, Heep are easily in the top 3 as far as quality of the new material. Outstanding!
Maybe it's worth to open myself up for their modern approach. I could've added in my first post that in the late seventies and early eighties I saw them on German television. The audience that was cheering for them where fat house wives wearing tick glasses. As a rock fan you don't want to be part of that.
The only thing I can't stand about this LP is the modern polish applied to every song.... same guitar sound, same vocal delivery ,same drum beats etc....
Well, to be honest, the majority of modern recordings sound like that. Heep though have always had a 'familiarity' about their recordings, especially post 1980 or so.
Have you listened to any of their material since he left? Even those late '70s albums with Lawton are quite good. Give their last 5-6 studio albums a chance. Quite good!

I always say Mario, never give up on an old friend, and Heep have been a great friend to me, musically speaking, for 40+ years!

Thanks Lawrence!!!
Based on your comments about modern Heep I've listened to and ordered this album. It's freakin' awesome. Thanks Pete!

I like that idea, and will probably use it!!!

Makes me think some Magnum reviews could be good?

Totally agree! Easily in the top 3 of legacy bands still making new music as far as the quality of their new recordings. Stellar!
This is a great review Pete. It made me check out the album and 'wow!'
Great review, love the enthusiasm for the classic periods of artists, but also understanding that, by only appreciating the band at their commercial or artistic height, so much amazing music will pass you by.
That was a good rant about not comparing the classic albums to today's product. I completely agree with your view Pete.
Yeah, this is a fantastic album for any era of Uriah Heep. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the good review. I'm going to check this album out. 👍

A little bit, yes!
Great review. First day buyer here. Amazing album! ‘Apply Days! I also reviewed the album on my channel. Cheers, Chris

I think you were talking about that Overkill Review with Martin😂.
Thanks Pete🤘😎🎸
No, thank you!!!!
Pete Pardo is solely responsible for me becoming a Uriah Heep fan

I think I seen that other review ure talking about. A well known male author and a young woman. BTW that's a super album.

Love Heep but only with Byron

You're missing out. Just saying.
