Exactly! He only felt that way after she knew. Before she knew he wouldn't even make time for dinner or fun together and just turned it around on the fact she had the NCIS job and was no longer NSA. Even for intel, which makes sense to a degree, but he would also know firsthand that her work was critical, even if not always top-level national security - but she was trying to help people and he refused to help or push requests for info up his ladder, just showing how little he was willing to work on. It was like he blamed her for taking another job and bursting their bubble and tried to make it so hard for her she'd want to come back, and when that didn't happen he went outside their marriage for intimacy and then let her worry that he was under scrutiny! And it says so much about each of them that she immediately assumed he wasn't actually the source of a leak, even if he was being investigated, even if he wasn't at the hotel when it was bombed - a lot of people would think that treason would be the explanation for his escape, but she was just worried about him. And he threw that in the trash.
With all these people leaving NCIS I have to wonder if it will make it past season 15. It would be great if it did. Even if Abby And Weatherby arent there anymore it could really take off with new life if the so-called Hollywood experts JUST STAY OUT OF IT.
At the end, if it could have ever happened like some fanfiction stories have been written, despite the age difference, Gibbs and Ellie could have been in a relationship. Think they called it Gellie.
