I know this is 8 months later, but if you're still wondering: Mini: Disables special attacks like Kick, sets attack to 1, defense and evade to 0 and anyone hitting you has their attack doubled. You can stil cast spells though. Toad: Sets your attack and defense to 1 and prevents you from casting any spells but Toad. Pig: Disables abilities like Kick, Summon, etc. It severely reduces your attack power and you can't cast any spells but Piggy. Hope this helped.
On my last playthrough, when I got to this fight with the Steel Golem, I got the Giant's Gloves to drop which I believe are the rarest drop they have, their 4th drop slot I think. Such an amazing item at this early in the game... +10 strength, stamina and defense, and immune to mini status which can be annoying in some areas. When the only other item you have for cecil are the gauntlets... it's a massive upgrade lol. I've never gotten them to drop before... but then again I've never farmed steel golems as I had no reason to.. so I'm not sure just HOW rare they are.
Lord HCBailly is like a snack food. I'm addicted and I just can't enough! He is also like a fine glass of shiraz. He goes with EVERYTHING during anytime of the day.
I learn something new every episode. I never thought you could use weapons as items, i never thought you could get the Eblan treasures so early in the game, and next episode, I expect HC to own the Magnetic Cave
i got really lucky here with the monster-in-chest encounters. From the ogres i got a power armlet and from the Golem/skeleton one i got a Gaia Hammer along with what was actually in those chests originally.
i've been playing this game for nearly 20 years.. and i've always had trouble with those mad ogre's in Eblan Castle, and you just take control over them like your HCGolbez.. you got skills..
I saw a video of some guy solo the last boss using the Drain Lance with a lot of jumping. It was pretty cool, but that was mainly because he also had only 900ish HP.
Once again, HCBailly will make a reference to the magnetic cave and his love to party limitation locations in every single future LP until the announcement of the DS version.
lmao I was doing something else in another site while watching this video and right when Edward woke up, an add from the other site says "congratulations, you won!" with a happy man's voice. rofl
Is that a rare variation of the "Wow; look at that damage!" that graces my ears? Also, a question; does the Blood Sword damage you if you use it on the undead?
if i remember correctly in the gba version of ff4 the silver apple and blood lance drops are switched; getting blood lance from the mad ogres and silver apple from the coeril and lamia battle
@HCBailly Man, I remember having such a hard time with them on the SNES sometimes I'd have to go in there like 4 times. I don't know if mini or 'nado would have worked back then....
HCBailly: "Back then I didn't have access to any algorythm guides or anything." Translation: HCBailly is going to show us how to really destroy FFIV of any challenge. Screw equipment HC, go to pub!
HC Baily, I havn't watched you in a while cus I've been busy but when I saw "Lets Play Final Fantasy IV #19 by HCBaily" ....I about jizzed myself. My fav commentator with my favorite game....Well time to go to #1 :D lol
I was always upset as a kid Edward doesn't join you here. You only have 4 party members, Edward is necessary for the next dungeon and then he could succumb to his injuries and have to stay in Troia.
Edward is bad, but if you really like him for whatever reason, the new weapon you can get for him before the final area in the game is not so shabby, as well as the armor specifically for him.
HCBailly, I recently got the North American Final Fantasy II on my Wii and I was wondering: is there really any huge difference between the Japanese and the North American SNES versions?
9:24 "...we will allow you to borrow it" "We will consider lending you the Earth Crystal if you can reclaim it." ...will you lend it to us or only consider it? WHICH IS IT?! :P
Just wondering. Did you make that reference to After Years on purpose? If it was on accident I can't blame you. I did the same thing when I played the game again.
Hmm. You say the Sleep Sword is good, and yet when I use it as an item, it rarely ever works for me. I've even tried putting Cecil in the middle row to see if that does anything. Nope. Most of the time, it does eff-all. I'm playing the SNES Namingway Edition, if that makes a difference. It shouldn't have changed stats for the game. (The enemies I use it on aren't immune, Cecil just has to use at least twice before SOMETHING finally hits.)
I wouldn't know about hacks. In all SNES versions, equipment used to cast spells always have 100% accuracy, as long as the enemies are not immune to it. If that's not working, I don't know why.
@@HCBailly Hi! Thanks for such a quick reply on an old video! It's supposed to restore the SNES version to the way it's supposed to be, closer to the Japanese release, but they could very well have messed with some extra code by accident. Oh well. I've never used the sword in my previous playthroughs so I guess it's not a dealbreaker for me.
@supersmashbros123654 he is the most useful party member of all FF games (even compared to Umaro, the Phantom Train Ghost, and even General Leo (but not counting Maduin))
Why can't they just realize this on the iPhone or PS3? I would definitely get this one along with Valkyria Chronicles 2, but I found out that the new Vita doesn't have a UMD slot.
@AnAznPersuasion Doesn't everyone do that? I don't think I have a game in my collection I haven't played 3-4 times at least! And like HC said if it's one of my favourites easily 30+.
With that kind of money I bet Cecil could get a "V I P membership" at a strip bar or whatever they're called, but that's a mere speculation, they couldn't possibly have that in the ff world
Your informative way of doing LPs is always good. I've learned so much about games I love just by watching the stuff you've figured out or looked up.
Very awesome battles against the monsters-in-the-box.
Edward blew over there. "She got eaten, fish food". LOL!

Troian Beauty is one of my favourite songs from this game.
i got really lucky here with the monster-in-chest encounters. From the ogres i got a power armlet and from the Golem/skeleton one i got a Gaia Hammer along with what was actually in those chests originally.
I just imagined Golbez in the Magnetic Cave. It is probably the most hilarious thing in existence.
i've been playing this game for nearly 20 years.. and i've always had trouble with those mad ogre's in Eblan Castle, and you just take control over them like your HCGolbez.. you got skills..

Playing along with you on FF chronicles HCBailly! Couldn't help myself and skipped ahead a little though haha. Rally-HO!!!
You ever wonder who's been opening all those treasures ?Every place has a few opened treasures by the time you get there.
Oh my! You were grammatically correct in your greeting! I'm so surprised~
Once again, HCBailly will make a reference to the magnetic cave and his love to party limitation locations in every single future LP until the announcement of the DS version.
@TheRemster Just making sure you're paying attention. :)
@Vaylemn Technically some monsters between those 2 games are similar, but it's the gameplay that matters.
YAY! An episode more than 10 minutes long!
lmao I was doing something else in another site while watching this video and right when Edward woke up, an add from the other site says "congratulations, you won!" with a happy man's voice. rofl

@Omegalucario98 I think it's a reference to the count in Sesame Street who counts sheep to fall asleep
Yang: "Stop!"
Cid:"Hammer time"
@HCBailly Man, I remember having such a hard time with them on the SNES sometimes I'd have to go in there like 4 times. I don't know if mini or 'nado would have worked back then....
I wish I knew about how good bronze hourglasses before I tackled the steel golem the first time, ugh...
I like what they did with the graphics with this version.
best way to start your day is with some HcBailly. It's true I always watch you in the morning >w<
@AnAznPersuasion I've played the various versions of the game at least 30, maybe more like 40 times by now.
@RobGreenEyedTiger That's rather pricy, especially compared to Mini. If you really want to use Black Magic, Break would work on them, as well.
Love this LP so far
The moon!? I don't want to go there, there might be *shifty eyes* bacteria there.
Ha I love the animation of when Cid gets hit, I just noticed it.
Pedal to the metal? I see what you're gonna do there :D
Mad Ogres are kind of weak to Tornado if I'm correct, thats how i always took care of that battle with the three of them in Eblan's basement.
I like the new intro, makes you sound more awesome. If your thinking of keeping it, I'd recomend it.
HCBailly: "Back then I didn't have access to any algorythm guides or anything."
Translation: HCBailly is going to show us how to really destroy FFIV of any challenge.
Screw equipment HC, go to pub!
@12:45 my favorite part of this LP!
HC Baily, I havn't watched you in a while cus I've been busy but when I saw "Lets Play Final Fantasy IV #19 by HCBaily" ....I about jizzed myself. My fav commentator with my favorite game....Well time to go to #1 :D lol

I just noticed, the basement level in Eblan almost looks like the Kanji that translates into "ogre".
Wolverine would really suffer in that cave.
I need to find a chart with a list of all the monsters weaknesses to print out for easy reference XD
Wow this game has alot of secrets.
@HCBailly Can you show us how to abuse it though? Just for more content?
@dukluvrr No, I'll play fair this time...
Well, Ruby is a rock, it's non-magnetic, so I can see it working. I just see it as a pain to switch equipment for just one battle though O.o
@HCBailly do you have a list of any sort of all the save points on FF4? I'm currently just constantly going back to the dungeon in Baron to save.
@Insaneman22 Thanks for the tip!
HCBailly what are Bronze hour glasses called in the PS1 version of the game?
Hey HCBailly, How sounds to you a Let's play of Jeanne D'arc for PSP, since the Final fantasy tactics was so good, this one would be awesome
HCBailly, I recently got the North American Final Fantasy II on my Wii and I was wondering: is there really any huge difference between the Japanese and the North American SNES versions?
Allo, Allo reference in the intro HCBailly?
9:24 "...we will allow you to borrow it"
"We will consider lending you the Earth Crystal if you can reclaim it."
...will you lend it to us or only consider it? WHICH IS IT?! :P
Just wondering. Did you make that reference to After Years on purpose? If it was on accident I can't blame you. I did the same thing when I played the game again.
It is I, HCBailly? A change up from the usual.
I forgot. Does draining from an undead actually give them HP and drain it from you as it does in FF3?
I always pronounced it "co*erl," but usually ends up sounding like coral.
Hmm. You say the Sleep Sword is good, and yet when I use it as an item, it rarely ever works for me. I've even tried putting Cecil in the middle row to see if that does anything. Nope. HCBailly, have you already LPed FFX? I'm really interested in that one. Or is it in the near future?
Epopt is pronounced with the emphasis on the "pop" and the T is not silent
That Lamia sprite is a bit.. risqué
Dear god Edward you are hilarious
@supersmashbros123654 he is the most useful party member of all FF games (even compared to Umaro, the Phantom Train Ghost, and even General Leo (but not counting Maduin))

HCBailly is part of a balanced breakfast.
What's the difference between mini, pig and frog?
Oh wow, a Robot Chicken reference.
Strippers or useful stuff... Easiest choice ever!
oh god, I forgot how much I love Troia music, although I always hated this next part in this game...
HCBailly. Do you intend to abuse the next boss once more, as you did in your other LP?
"Co-Earl" Whisker?
@AnAznPersuasion Doesn't everyone do that? I don't think I have a game in my collection I haven't played 3-4 times at least! And like HC said if it's one of my favourites easily 30+.
This is bit of a odd question, but why didn't you let Tellah jst attack the Mini'd Mad Ogres even trough you pretty much auto'd rest of the battle?
@yeojinchung yez it does
@HCBailly
practice makes perfect
the second p in Epopt is silent
"lets turn down the battle speed just a little bit..." turns it up 1
Let our powers combine....EARTH!
A lot harder than the SNES (us) version. So many status ailments in one shot? That's even harder than Lufia I (not the second one, that's easier).
@ff2paladin yes. i found out that the hard way...
@lubosyugi wait till you see the summons and Meteor.
In before the views!
are you going to use the gremlin soundtrack again?
Arent lamias weak to fire? 4:10
Captain Bailly! Hes a hero!
With that kind of money I bet Cecil could get a "V I P membership" at a strip bar or whatever they're called, but that's a mere speculation, they couldn't possibly have that in the ff world
Sigh, if only they turned Troia into Castle Anthrax from Monty Python. :P
At least he is still ok. =]
I have to get up early to be the first to watch HCBailly
Definitely choice B, HC. Hehehehhe..
shouldn't the spell be called "meteorite"?
My doctor prescribed me HCBailey in the mornings.
"It is I, HCBailly"
@JacksonsFoodSto Gonna take those trolls down to zero!
Next Episode: PimpCBailly!
I got a gaia hammer from the first chest O.o
Epopts (E-pots)
Epopts pronounced Epot. The second P is silent :)
