Another thing that people miss is Hanzee changes his identity to Tripoli shown by social security. He’s the Fargo boss in season 1. He has that scene where he’s sucking the fish head in restaurant in season 1
I just want to say, seeing as Fargo Season 1 had fewer views than Scary Movie alone, the fact you went straight into Season 2 knowing that wouldn’t change says a lot about your commitment to quality and the relationship and trust you have in your subscribers. Kudos to the two of you.
The fact the Scary Movie (which is objectively terrible) has as many views as it does.... Well it shows how people just has awful taste. I don't mean our esteemed, entertaining, lovely reactors; it's just "people" in general do not have the most sophisticated pallet when it comes to movies (or any kind of media). I'm just glad they watched this incredible season of television.
Betsy Solverson's vision of the future was such a perfect reference to the vision of the future had by H. I. McDunnough (Nicolas Cage) at the end of Raising Arizona (1987).
I always thought Lou interrupting Peggy with the "People are dead" line was one of the most powerful moments of the entire series. Puts life into perspective.
When Mike was threatining the guy from Buffalo , he says "which one are you again, the one from Otto and the maid?" (paraphrasing) I thought this was cool because it answered my suspicion that Hanzee is Otto's son, and Bear, Rye, and Dodd are all his half siblings. The Gerhardts native american maid is Hanzees mother.
I friggin love the last lines of dialogue of this season... "Goodnight Mr.Solverson" "Goodnight Mrs.Solverson and all the ships at sea" I don't even know why but it makes me feel happy and cozy
I think Ed was simply having his first real moment of clarity about Peggy & their relationship. Pity it didn't come sooner. But then it would've been a very different story.
Moses Tripoli is Hanzee’s new identity. Moses Tripoli is the head of the Fargo mob in season 1. I feel like they could’ve hammed the Fargo boss up a little bit more because he gets limited screen time and forgotten quick and he dies off screen as you know when Malvo goes terminator mode in that episode he takes them all out. I remembered the “head in a bag” “that’s the message” line but it happens so fast and gets lost in so much other good stuff.
The universal language conversation ties back into the conversation between Lou and Peggy. They were both talking about their feelings, but they weren't able to properly convey it to each other.
"Be careful what you wish for" is the real message here. I don't think Hanzee ever really wanted "revenge." He wanted freedom--- from the family--- and ended up ultimately taking on the responsibility of becoming a boss. Peggy wanted total freedom--- a thoughtless, uncaring kind--- and ended up getting it taken all away from her. And then, of course, there's Mike. :D He really wanted to be the top dog, god emperor, Master of the Universe--- and got reduced to an insignificant drone. True to the spirit of the Coens, the characters who are plugging along with barely even the most modest of hopes end up doing *just fine.* (The exception is Hank--- who turns out to have one pretty wild dream.)
I just realized that the driver getting shot by Hanzi when Peggy and Ed try to get in the car is a blatantly clear reference to No Country for Old Men. The end scene in bed (with Betsy still alive, didn't die in the show as you'd expect) is one to the ending of the Fargo movie (Marge still pregnant) Both violation against the 'Chekov's gun' theatre rule. :)
Moses Tripoli is seen in one scene of season one. That's where we hear the 'head in the bag' speach for the first time. He's rubbed out by Lorne Malvo in season one when he kleens out the building in Fargo. The end of season two has Hanzee taking up his new identidy as Tripoli as he watches a couple of kids (the eventual Numbers and Wrench) fighting on a baseball field in a public park.
Ed breaking up with Peggy was taken from Raising Arizona toward the end when Ed and Hi have to go get Nathan Jr back. The universal language was a nod to the coen brothers film a serious man- the brother is constantly working on something called the mentaculus. The UFO is a nod to The Man Who wasn’t there. Obviously the car scene with Peggy and Lou is reminiscent of Fargo the film at the end. Hanzie shooting the guy in the pickup truck while chasing Ed and Peggy was a nod to No country from old men and Raising Arizona.
Multiple others have probably already beat me to it, but just in case, it's worth noting that: - Hanzee's new identity is Moses Tripoli - after his surgery, he eventually becomes the leader of the Fargo Mob (the guy with rather grotesque eating habits), ultimately killed by Lorne Malvo in S1. What he says in the S1 restaurant scene about Sam Hess's killers ("don't care X, don't care Y", "kill and be killed, head in a bag") echoes what he says in his last scene here. - The kids getting bullied are Wrench and Numbers from S1 - presumably he becomes their mentor after killing or maiming their tormentors.
Awesome! Some easter eggs - The kids in the baseball field were Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers. The identity Hanzi was given was the name of the Fargo boss from season 1. And he gives the exact same speech Moses Tripoli gives in season 1. Google Moses Tipoli. Also, really hope you continue with the series. Season 3 & 4 are both excellent in their own right. And both those seasons bring back some characters from the first two seasons.
I am having a tough time right now and I am glad you guys uploaded. I appreciate you and all the other RUclipsrs I watch so much I don’t know if I would be here if I was left with my thoughts.
Hey guys - I've started watching season 5 and am loving it, the first episode really pulls you into the story (no spoilers!!), Awesome reactions as always ya'll!!!!
I just wanted to tell you guys how much fun I have hanging out & watching good stuff with you. Yeah, I've seen all of Fargo... but just re-watching it "by my dammy" as my Mama used to say, is "a whole lotta no fun" (as I say!). It's just right to see an abbreviated version & spend the watching of it with y'all.
Mike Milligan is now just a small cog in a big wheel. He's in a small cubical like everyone else, he will dress the same as the others, and he's not in charge of anything. It is slow torture for him, worse than death. I'm watching Fargo season 5 now, it's great. Will see y'all when you do Fargo season 3..thanks.
I know you guys are super busy with the baby. But I think it would be so much fun if you did a post season live stream. It would be awesome to discuss the season and other movies with you guys live.
Great season, it's been great seeing you enjoy all the twists and turns! About Mike Milligan's arc in this season, I feel like coming back to this after watching season 3 really made me appreciate the significance of that ending, seeing as the entire crime aspect of that season is entirely contained in that corporate world. It really hammers down the larger scale evil in comparison to old school cowboy-style violence.
In the end, Ed realized that Peggy caused all of the problems that drew them in, as well as not being on the same page going forward. Every man has a braking point.
I like his quiet moment of revelation sitting there slowly loosing his life. Before it was too hectic to even be thinking of such things. The torrent his wife drew him in was way too fast to realize this mid-journey. Only at the end he's like fuck how did I end up here?
I was hoping to see what you, as new parents, thought of what Hank said about our children. But I always enjoy every bit of your post-viewing discussion. You're probably the only reactors whose commentary I watch in its entirety. Looking forward to what's next & hopefully, future reactions to every season of Fargo. As always, much love & appreciation from Kentucky. 💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙
Love your reactions. Fargo is great, the part when it time skips to season 1, idk why but it just got me. It's one of those things with Fargo in general, "Why is there a UFO?" Why is any of this happening.. I asked the same thing. It just is. You can't fix it. The randomness of life.
I don't know if its been recommended yet but The Shield is an excellent cop show that will surprise you again and again, it's less folksy and more gritty than Fargo. This episode in particular reminds me of several key events that occur in the show. This season of Fargo has been excellent to watch along with you, love your reactions and after watch analysis!
************************SPOILER ALERT**************************** I'm sure you noticed that a central character in The Shield ended up just like Mike Milligan, reduced from a slick, top field operator to an involuntary office drone. Except that character doesn't even have the illusion that his new place in life isn't a prison or an insult. And while Milligan may be able to achieve success in his new environment, this character in The Shield never will.
8:16 No, not the Detroit guy. He’s part of the farm crew, he’s Bear’s left hand man. He attacked the motel too but ran after the ambush. He was shown for several episodes following Bear’s orders.
Great reaction to one of my favorite seasons of any show. You said that Molly's grandfather's language creation was not related to aliens but perhaps it is. It's a common theory in ufology that perhaps another more advanced species is slowly interfering in our evolution. Introducing ideas (even telepathically) and making changes to our DNA. Watching over the generations and observing. Molly had the drawings and perhaps they were communicating with her grandpa. It ties into her mom's dream of the not too distant future and its great technological changes..
Around the same time NASA sent out deep space probes loaded with picto-symbols and artwork they hoped might be able to help any extraterrestrial civilizations help communicate with us.
I like Mike Milligan more than Malvo, they're both very similar. Dodd was a more meathead villain, Bear was a reasonable yet formidable villain, and Hanzee was the can't do wrong villain. I prefer season 2 way more. Yes the deaf kid/mute kid at the end is the mute/deaf hitman villain with a cool jacket in season 1.
Good to take a break i think, I'm sure you can figure out, Season 1 & 2 are a hard act to follow which is why you get the odd mixed views towards following seasons but I think they are great too and I hope you react to Seasons 3 to 5 and enjoy tying them into the timeline and appreciating their individual flavours and excellent characters. And yes, Hanzee (an almost jarring reinvention of) was killed by Lorne Malvo in Season 1 and the kids at the end are Numbers and Wrench. Thank you so much for watching this show, it's one of my favourites and I hope you feature more of Noah Hawley's stuff in future. I'm guessing 'Reacher' Season 2 is one of the upcoming shows. Hope so. :)
So Season 3 is controversial, it's more abstract and difficult to unserstand. It has this esotericness to it that S2 doesn't have. Imo its the best written season, it subverts the subversion you expect from Fargo. It's my personal favorite
Season 3 does have a real poignant ending. I also have a soft spot for season 4 and it's focus on cycles. How people do things to try and break them, but end up repeating history because of a refusal to look past themselves.
I want to add to the people saying you should watch Season 3 as well. I thought it was really good. And no spoilers, but it has one scene I nearly jumped out of my chair cheering for, and I've been hoping to see you react to it.
I love the Fargo series and your reactions are greqt as ususal. Season 4 is not that great but Season 5 so far has been outstanding. I know I've said this on other reactions but the Australian show Mr. In Between is a abosulte treat and I'm willing to bet you guys would absolutely love it. The episodea are on;ly 30 minutes long and the 1st season is only 6 episodes but by then you will be hooked! Give it a try! Keep up the great reactions, you are my favorite channel!!
the best part about the story that lou tells peggy of the pilot who saved his family and then crashed the helicopter and got out alive is that it actually happened. there's even footage of it in the 2014 documentary "last days in vietnam" by rory kennedy
Moses Tripoli in season 1 is the leader who, in the Chinese restaurant scene, wasn’t saying much but was eating that fish head!!! So the kids fighting on the baseball diamond, he took under his wing n they grew up to be ……. 😉😉😉😉
You got the relationship between Hanzee & Moses Tripoli. What you missed were the two pre-teens being attacked by the older teens. They were Wrench & Numbers. Anyway, and as always, I enjoy your reactions.
I really liked Fargo S5 episodes 1-3 so far! Reacher S2 drops eps 1-3 on 12/14 at 7:30pm and the other eps on 12/15. Hope to see that reaction soon too!
Thansk guys! So glad you reacted to this series. For me, season 1 is still the best. Season 2 was amazing but I think they dropped the ball a wee bit on the last 2 episodes. The UFO deus ex machina seemed a bit off for such an otherwise brilliantly written story. Still top tier though. No doubt.
Season 3 was a departure from 1 and 2. Ewan MacGregor in a dual role is great. Season 4 is even more of a departure. Disliked by many but still good. A little slow in places, but great ending. So far so good with season 5. Definitely has a more season 1 and 2 vibe.
There is a theory that Hanzee is Moses Tripoli from Season 1 after plastic surgeries and personality change. 27 years passed from S2 to S1 and he somehow worked his way up to be the head of the Kansas City crime syndicate. Obviously that was Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers in the baseball diamond and Hanzee basically used them going forward. Tripoli is in one scene from season one where he is eating at a table and it is believed he got killed by Malvo when he walked into the building while the two FBI agents were chilling outside. Edit: Also, you can also conclude that Betsy does die from cancer eventually in the 27 year gap from S2 to S1 since she isn't around in S1 at all.
I think Mike Milligan could have used D'angelo Barkesdale's "The King stay the King" speech at some point in his life... Pawn on the battlefield, pawn in an office. Still just a pawn.
With the palindrome thing, maybe it's also because it starts and ends really similarly, the scene with Lou and his wife saying goodnight, and the book and all that. Gonna watch season 3, 4 and 5?
I'd like to see a season set in the 80s or 90s where Mike has to contend with or work with or for Moses Tripoli within the Kansas City Syndicate. Maybe have the last Kitchen Bro try to get revenge after he learns who Tripoli is (possibly from Mike). Or a season set in the 60s or early 70s where we see how Satchel Cannon became Mike Milligan. Maybe see what Rapid City was that filled the young Ben Schmidtt with dread.
Season 3 is a little different, hopefully you guys continue. Season 4 gets hate, but it's actually good and it does have tie-ins with S2 (Kansas City origins). Right now Season 5 is going and so far it's pretty good.
I loved this season so much, 3rd and fourth season had some amazing moments but not as good as season 2 but still better than 95% of what’s out there. The creator/writer/director of Fargo made the best Marvel series with much many of the same actors as Fargo on fx called LEGION, imagine marvel but in the Fargoverse 😜
Moses from season 1 links with hanzei at end of the episode and wrench and the other guy can not remember his name are younger at the end of the finale hanzei helps them at the end of the finale of season 2
Season 3 is amazing! It's a bit more slowburn and weird compared to seasons 1 and 2, so some people don't like it as much. I would rate season 3 over season 2 though.
I was distracted the first time watching season 2, knowing the mother didn't make it to season 1. Once I found out she died after the season, the tension was gone and I enjoyed it more and more each time I watched it -- at least a dozen times, all the way through. For each of the first three seasons. I pre-paid for season 5 and it's shaping up to be on par with the first three.
Hope you continue with Fargo. Season three doesnt quite live up to the first two, but its still good. The casting and performances are great. People say season four isnt as good but I really liked it, and it has a great reveal at the end.
My only "gribe" is that they kinda say Hanzee has grazy future plans but they left it completely open, but To me this was eaven better than the first season, Still Fargo/Coen vibe is so pure and strong and stand on its own😄
I think it can go either way that either Moses Tripoli from season 1 IS hanzee or a front man/passed on pseudonym. It's not the important part. The interesting part is that Hanzee did indeed build the 2006 Fargo mob with Wrench and Numbers by his side. Only to be completely leveled my Malvo.
The saddest truths of Ed and Peggy's relationship is that she didn't love him anywhere near as much as he loved her. Its clear, IMO at least, that she settled for Ed and his small town dreams when she couldn't achieve her own big ones. I'm guessing she peaked in high school, was probably the 2nd hottest cheerleader and Ed was the dependable but not spectacular lineman on the football team. While the cheerleader captain got married to the star quarterback and went off to college, she ended up stuck with Ed. I wouldn't be surprised if she had secretly sent her photos to Playboy and agreed to marry Ed only after she got rejected for being too Mid-West Zoftig. Just as sad was that Ed was as deluded about his own big dream as he was about Peggy's love until the end. Ed's big plan was to own and operate a family butcher shop. But(as a critic pointed out back when this season first aired)he ended up dying in the butcher section of a big supermarket. The type of supermarket whose integral meat and poultry units made the independent butcher shops (like Ed's dream shop) practically extinct by the 90s. So in the end, Ed's dream was as unrealistic as Peggy's California dreams. Delusion was the truest thing they had in common.
Mike starts the season harassing a typewriter salesman and ends the season stuck behind a typewriter.
Don’t know if you guys noticed but the two kids playing baseball at the end are Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers aka the hit men from the first season
Just came to say the same thing 😂
Damn! You beat me to it!😂
Yep me too...
Another thing that people miss is Hanzee changes his identity to Tripoli shown by social security. He’s the Fargo boss in season 1. He has that scene where he’s sucking the fish head in restaurant in season 1
Was hoping it would be noticed but it's a reach to catch it, such great story writing!! And the Hanze reference already noted below is awesome
I just want to say, seeing as Fargo Season 1 had fewer views than Scary Movie alone, the fact you went straight into Season 2 knowing that wouldn’t change says a lot about your commitment to quality and the relationship and trust you have in your subscribers. Kudos to the two of you.
It sounds like they have careers outside of RUclips, which lets them do cool stuff like this. 😊
Thank you so so much! ❤️❤️
Scary movie is stupid! Goodbye.
Scary movie is bad teen movie wank. Terribly overrated, and undeserved financial success. Its like Twilight.
Kirsten Dunst steals the show this season, she is incredible as Peggy.
She's also the story's catalyst in many ways
She, Jesse Plemons, and Bokeem Woodbine all received Emmy nominations for their performances. Dunst also received a Golden Globe nod as well.
Lol, I loved that she wanted to go to Alcatraz. ;-)
Betsy Solverson's vision of the future was such a perfect reference to the vision of the future had by H. I. McDunnough (Nicolas Cage) at the end of Raising Arizona (1987).

Season 5 has also been great so far
wait season 5 came out so fast wtf, i havent even watch 4@@moneykenny119
Some people dump on 3, I think it's great. Please don't skip it.
@@ghadrackpotato9603 is one of the best seasons of Fargo
@@ghadrackpotato960 Same, it's phenomenal. Only season that was 50/50 for me is season 4.

Absolutely !!!!! Same maner of speaking . Wrench & Numbers too. Season 3 awesome too for more connects .
Yeah, that is the dumbest thing about season 2. Hanzee and Moses Tripoli are not alike in any way shape of form.
The universal language conversation ties back into the conversation between Lou and Peggy. They were both talking about their feelings, but they weren't able to properly convey it to each other.
"Good night Mr. and Mrs. Schmitt. And all the ships at sea."
"Be careful what you wish for" is the real message here.
I don't think Hanzee ever really wanted "revenge." He wanted freedom--- from the family--- and ended up ultimately taking on the responsibility of becoming a boss.

"Costco?"
Maybe it was Utah?
I love the 'Raising Arizona' dream sequence with first season cameos.

Oh my, it's been so weird thus far.
It's great so far.
Agreed!! More akin to seasons one and two with the pacing and the story thus far unfolding is engrossing!!!
I've yet to start S5 but that sounds very promising. S4 didn't grab me as much as the first two seasons.
Her dream sequence was an homage to Raising Arizona
I love how the last episode ended with "Run Through the Jungle". Just as much as, this episode opening with "War Pigs" 🎸🎶.

Me too! Season 3 is Noah Hawley at his strongest, I think! Season 5 is quickly becoming my second favorite season, too.
Season 3 i think its evil is actually more scary to me, because its more... real
Mannnn I've watched this so many times and always missed the hints that Hanzi is Otto's son! Great observation, totally makes sense.
FWIW season 5 is shaping up to be my favorite- at least so far- I’m only 3 episodes in so we’ll see 😅
Enjoyed watching season 1 and 2 with you guys
I love the Fargo series and your reactions are greqt as ususal. Season 4 is not that great but Season 5 so far has been outstanding. I know I've said this on other reactions but the Australian show Mr. In Between is a abosulte treat and I'm willing to bet you guys would absolutely love it. The episodea are on;ly 30 minutes long and the 1st season is only 6 episodes but by then you will be hooked! Give it a try! Keep up the great reactions, you are my favorite channel!!
Thanks for the video!!
See you later!!
Stay safe and Happy Holidays 😊
Can't wait to see your reaction to BATMAN 89.
The dream of Molly's mother is a callback to H. I.'s dream at the end of the Coen brothers' Raising Arizona
Yes I’am very much hoping yall continue with Fargo let’s go!!😎🤘
the best part about the story that lou tells peggy of the pilot who saved his family and then crashed the helicopter and got out alive is that it actually happened. there's even footage of it in the 2014 documentary "last days in vietnam" by rory kennedy
Are you going to do the rest of these seasons 3-5?
I really liked Fargo S5 episodes 1-3 so far! Reacher S2 drops eps 1-3 on 12/14 at 7:30pm and the other eps on 12/15. Hope to see that reaction soon too!
I liked the other two seasons more than this, but Peggy and the husband were amazing. I watched this for these two characters.
The finale absolutely
I think Mike Milligan could have used D'angelo Barkesdale's "The King stay the King" speech at some point in his life... Pawn on the battlefield, pawn in an office. Still just a pawn.
I like to see the Schmidts react to "The Wire".
What a season!
Random trivia: There was a character in the SciFi TV Comedy series "Quark" called Otto Palindrome. Def do go on to season three.
I liked someone of the No Country for Old men reference in this season
I hope you do come back for the other seasons of Fargo. They are good and underrated.
With the palindrome thing, maybe it's also because it starts and ends really similarly, the scene with Lou and his wife saying goodnight, and the book and all that. Gonna watch season 3, 4 and 5?
Yes, being shot in the heart is a very slow death lol
So... did you guys catch the three season 1 characters that were in the baseball diamond scene?
I would love to see an older Mike Milligan in another season beaten down and empty from years spent in that office lol
I'm sure someone told you, but Numbers and Wrench are the guys at the end.
Season 3 is a little different, hopefully you guys continue. Season 4 gets hate, but it's actually good and it does have tie-ins with S2 (Kansas City origins). Right now Season 5 is going and so far it's pretty good.
hope you do S3
I loved this season so much, 3rd and fourth season had some amazing moments but not as good as season 2 but still better than 95% of what’s out there. The creator/writer/director of Fargo made the best Marvel series with much many of the same actors as Fargo on fx called LEGION, imagine marvel but in the Fargoverse 😜
Moses from season 1 links with hanzei at end of the episode and wrench and the other guy can not remember his name are younger at the end of the finale hanzei helps them at the end of the finale of season 2
15:35 When you swing a hammer and break rocks for 10 years in 100 degree weather or negative. Sitting at a desk in air conditioning isn't so bad
I really hope you guys come back to Fargo, I like season 3, 4's ok but I loved 5.
The guy that survived was at the motel. They showed him running away. I thought he was from Buffalo New York not Detroit. I could be wrong tho.
I feel like Mike had the worst fate of all - office work.
At first, I didn't know if he was going to shoot up the place before the credits rolled.
Hope you continue with Fargo. Season three doesnt quite live up to the first two, but its still good. The casting and performances are great. People say season four isnt as good but I really liked it, and it has a great reveal at the end.
Season 3 and Season 5 are both great, but I wasn't crazy about Season 4, but watch it anyway, there's a lot of things I liked about it.
*Season 5 is pretty good so far!*
With the arrival of Christmas, I recommend this film for you to react to: P2 (2007), a very good thriller, brutal and underrated, you'll like it
Oof madon' its the final episode already?
My only "gribe" is that they kinda say Hanzee has grazy future plans but they left it completely open, but To me this was eaven better than the first season, Still Fargo/Coen vibe is so pure and strong and stand on its own😄
I think it can go either way that either Moses Tripoli from season 1 IS hanzee or a front man/passed on pseudonym. It's not the important part. The interesting part is that Hanzee did indeed build the 2006 Fargo mob with Wrench and Numbers by his side. Only to be completely leveled my Malvo.
which is kind of poetic thinking about how he took out the (rest of the) Gerharts. It's like you reap what you sow.
I like how we keep getting all these connections among seasons. There'll be more later, like Mike Milligan's origin story.
What if the break up was in her head to cope with his death ?
Is there any chance of reacting to "Secretariat" really good film based on a true story, thanks for all your reactions really enjoying them.
I was happy that Betsy or Betty was still alive at the end how is that not a happy end
Corporations are the 'new' gangsters !!!
Dont stop now season 3 is great
