First time I saw them live in Katowice, Poland, 17 feb 1987 . I was eighteen! Now I"m 52 years old guy and still listening this masterpiece!!! METAL RULEZ!!!
1.Battery 0:00 2.Master Of Puppets 5:11 3.Welcome Home (Sanitarium) 13:45 4.The Thing That Should Not Be 20:12 5.Disposable Heroes 26:48 6.Leper Messiah 35:04 7.Orion 40:44 8.Damage, Inc 49:07
I just personally agree 100%. I think it gets too much hate and for anyone to say that only casual fans have it as their #1 is asinine. I feel something about this album that I think goes beyond not only Metallica’s (consistently great and unique from Kill em All to Hardwired) discography, but metal in general. I don’t even think Metallica understood what this album was going to achieve. They wanted to take Ride The Lightning and do everything better, and I think there’s a level of supernatural energy on this album, and the others with Cliff. But this feels like Cliff wanted to make his final album great, and even though he didn’t know the tragedy that would happen in the future, no one did, I think this album may very well be his magnum opus. On Ride the lightning, he spent a lot of time just working with the band and teaching them new things. Kirk as well to an extent, but mainly Cliff, was the only member well educated in music theory. On Master, he didn’t have to teach them anymore, he was free to do his own thing, free to play his own unique bass lines and groundbreaking improvisation, and he did it masterfully. All of their albums are amazing in what the band wanted them to be, but this album is so powerful that it essentially wrote its own legacy. It just had Metallica write it as an album. This was very long but I’m just very passionate. I don’t just favor it because everyone else often does. I favor it because it has a level of magic and power that I don’t feel from their other albums. Something is supernaturally different about it. Needless to say without lightning this album wouldn’t exist, so that album has a very very important place forever in history. In short, I agree.
I had forgotten just how good & excellent this album/cd is after just now listening to it again! I am glad that I got to see them before Cliff Burton went overseas, they opened for Ozzy Osbourne on the Ultimate Sin tour in Fort Worth Texas.
Was blessed to see them live at xgames . Their live sound is far beyond any recording that exist . They are the one and only band that sounds better live .
Metallica at his best level ! (Keep "And justice for all", may be the "black album" may be not, then... How could I say what I feel ... without being negativ...)
Thanks for uploading! If you have a second, we tried our hand at an Eddie Van Halen tribute video. As fellow music lovers, we'd love if you would check it out. It's on our channel. Don't go too hard on us :)
