    Brian! That was AWESOME. I'm a bit speechless that you were able to wrangle these 2 guys for such an in-depth interview. This gave me a much MUCH larger appreciation for Apple tech (not that I didn't already) and for where things are headed. The features integrated with AirPods Pro are unmatched in quality in our industry and only getting better. Can't wait to see more interviews like this.
    On another note, I have the latest APPro2 (lightning) and it doesn't seem like there's any reason to upgrade to the USBC version. It would be great if they could adopt the better BT5 in with other existing products like the iPhone and MacBooks... and give a reason to upgrade.
    Also, I did try the conversational awareness but it was a bit off-putting to me... so I turned it off. Maybe I just need to get used to it? I dunno... part of me feels like the video/music I'm watching/listening to should pause instead of having the audio duck down. It didn't seem natural what was going on for me. It also seemed too slow for me when it ducked down and I wanted the volume to come back quicker--perhaps that is something I'd like to see changed.

  • @iambujar
    @iambujar Год назад +3

    Small Feedback : Conversation awareness needs some big Fixes , i love the new feature but sometimes i start to sing the song while using this mode and guess what, my music volume drops coz Airpods think im talking to someone , they are way too sensitive to my voice even if i say something very quiet it picks it up !!

    • @T10107
      @T10107 Год назад

      *Agreed*. They need to introduce another option for conversation awareness.
      Apple can integrate voice isolation that will pick up only our voice, excluding others. So, for conversation awareness, there should be an option that activates when *someone else* speaks to *us*.
      Typically, if I have headphones in, someone else will initiate a conversation with *me*.
      If I want to start a conversation while wearing my headphones, I'd prefer the audio to pause entirely and for the AirPods to disable noise cancellation until *I press play* again. People sometimes need a moment to process what's been said, so I wouldn't want the music to keep toggling on and off during our chat.
      Apple could begin with recognizing common greetings for a quicker update and expand from there.

    With Apple hoping that people will use the AirPods *all* the time, there's one technical issue they need to improve on: battery-life
    I realize that has to be very challenging to do in a product that is so tiny, but it's a major reason I don't have AirPods.

    • @ThomasLeichardt
      @ThomasLeichardt Год назад

      @@briantong Seems like if they added 5GHz to the iPhone Bluetooth chip we would have lossless with the usb-c AirPods Pro 2… but did they, or will it come in the iPhone 16? They definitely have the tech, now the question is when will it come to iPhone, AppleTV, etc. Of course they might not be at liberty to say 😅 Great job on getting that info about the 5GHz connection, you’re the first channel I heard that on!

    • @mcnaugha
      @mcnaugha Год назад +2

      There is no 5Ghz Bluetooth. It has to be something else, e.g. Wi-Fi or something entirely proprietary. They’ve cleared added a 5Ghz radio to the revised H2 but it can’t be Bluetooth unless they’ve got a world exclusive on a future version of Bluetooth… and that would be huge news. Anything they do with any radio frequency must be publicly declared. 5Ghz is primarily reserved for Wi-Fi. I’d need to research to discover if any other protocols are approved to use it.
      It depends what they’re doing… saying the H2 specialises in audio and somehow that prevents the tech in the current iPhone from also doing it, doesn’t make sense. Digital Audio is still 1’s and 0’s. I can’t believe they’d only deliver lossless on the Vision Pro. That’s too niche. We’re crying out for it on everything else.

    • @ThomasLeichardt
      @ThomasLeichardt Год назад

      @@mcnaugha However we call it, the tech is definitely there if they can get the Vision Pro to do lossless with the AirPods Pro 2. The question then is, is the iPhone 15 Pro already hardware capable for it, waiting to be turned on by software, or are we gonna have to wait for the 16 for it? And what other devices have it/will have it? I mean, if they can fit that tech into the AirPods Pro, surely they can fit it into an iPhone, right?

    I have a question... both the lightning and USB-C versions have the H2 Bluetooth chip right? ...and it's the same chip, but only the USB-C version will run 5GHz for lossless right? Is that because there is physical hardware in the USB-C version, or is it because it's running different firmware (USB-C: 6A300 v Lightning: 6A301)? If it's just a firmware difference, could the Lightning version be upgraded to run lossless?

    • @aminosmz

      I think it’s a hardware related limitation so. They cannot give every detail about it, and I’m a bit surprised they’ve gone far in the details saying what frenquecy range they’ll operate, cause it gives insights for other companies about it et give them time to study this for their upcoming products, and Apple said they’ll give more details about it only in the coming months. It’s for sure not Bluetooth at this frequency range, they’ve not upgraded the chip itself but I think the antennas inside to support this range

    • @Martyntd5
      @Martyntd5 Год назад

      @@aminosmz I dunno, there is a video of the old version of the airpods pro being taken apart and I cant see what they could add or change? There is the battery, the microphone in the end of the stem, the antenna in the stem, the acoustic hardware, the touch sensitive stuff and switches and the H2 chip. If they have different guts it must be a new antenna in the stem. I'm sure other manufacturers have already reverse engineered them. I think the secret sauce is the H2 chip and I think that is the same aside from the firmware. I guess we'll find out in the fullness of time.
