@@bandageddhey are not romantically canon the author asagiri has denied it....just because they care for each cause they were the only constant they had when growing up in a n abusive environment such as the mafia and their bond strengthed after surviving so many life threatening missions together so ofc they grew to care and trust each other, wouldn't you if you were in either of their places? It's so obvious why they care and trust each other so much deeply....they are at the core the same people, they might not understand each other's emotions or feeling so well but they understand each other motives and intentions cause they had to if they needed to survive together as partners in mafia so ofc they work great....ship them however you want or interpret them however you like but strictly speaking canon wise they have a deep platonic bond and ofc they do after all the shit they have been through....dazai and chuuya are the only constant in their lives when they were in a bad places mentally and in the mafia so ofc they have this unique special bond they don't have with anybody else...its like the bond you have with your bsf in childhood when you go to her house to escape your alcoholic dad and make paper airplanes or dance or comfort each other, the only difference is that they did it subtly.....reducing it to romance cheapens their whole bond and the layers they have...Their relationship is far more complex than a simple romantic or platonic one....in canon they have no romantic feelings and are platonic but it's not a simple platonic relationship, it's a deeply layered platonic relationship that is also rivarly in it's nature....also dead apple was clearly fanservice and doesn't make a ship canon and the studio has been pretty obvious about the fanservice alsooo asagiri the author didn't really write those parts in dead apple anyways....
