*AIR, are you here?*
Thanks for the videos, but did you hear if Ishida has ever talked about becoming an on-screen actor instead? He looks pretty good, so he could have made a career like that just fine. (Lots of Japanese are not tall, so the height should not be a major issue.) Or did he specifically dream of becoming a voice actor from his childhood after watching Astro Boy or Fist of the North Star anime or something?
A-san became fond of voice actors because of "Mobile Suit Gundam" when he was a kid. That's quite curious that he got his seiyuu award for voicing Athrun Zala in "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED" many years after that. He entered the drama department at the Japanese University of Arts as wanted to become an actor but during his student years he understood that he didn't like to act on the stage and he felt really uncomfortable when people watched him. That's why he changed his mind and while he was studying in the university, he entered Ezaki Production in 1988 (which was renamed as Mausu Promotion in 1990) where be became a voice actor. I think Ishida-san is a great stage actor and he could take part in movies, too, but he strongly dislikes so much attention and he still suffers from lots of attention as a voice actor. He thought that he could just voice his characters without meeting people, but nowadays voice actors are as popular as film actors, so they have to take part in photo shoots, interviews on TV and radio, shows and whatnot. Ishida-san often tries to skip all of this stuff but it's not easy to do it. :)
@@AIR-we4oi Thanks. Indeed, one of the videos on your channel is about Ishida being "stalked" by a media person during his work day. It was obvious that he is an introvert, a shy person, but it is in the Japanese culture to be behaving modestly in such situations, so I was not sure until your explanation.
Akira Ishida has a similar voice to Takahiro Sakurai.
