I tried it for a week and a half. ...And I had to come back and say "ThankYou"!!! My Shrooms, Zoas, Palys and Blastos are showing better color and are fully extended all day. THANKS BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this is an old video but I watched this 3 months ago and tried it . I don’t normally comment but this works an absolute treat , all my corals weren’t doing much or growing after doing this I’ve had everything double in size and polyps split untold . Well done sir good video
I just tried this tonight for the first time. Wow, thanks man! Cant believe how quick my corals reacted to it. The second the food hits while mixing it this way they react and start to open. Been trying to feed my scolys for a year with RR and mysis and they wouldnt budge! Tonight they opened immediately to eat. Awesome tip!
you can activate other corals feeding response by putting a tiny bit of reef roids in the tank while the flow is going. turn off pumps and feed acans and stuff first, by the time you finish, candy canes and chalices should have their feeders out.
Thank you so much for sharing about this feeding technique with Reef-roids. I'm now using the same, and I can surely see an amazing change in my nano reef. Again, much appreciated.
I watched this video 2 years ago and have been feeding this way ever since. its a great way to make sure they all get some. Little time consuming, but worth it.
I agree, I stopped doing it for a little while because of it being time consuming. But I started doing it again with some new frags and it really helps them out👍👍
Thank You! I have always liked the nutritional content of RR but not the mess - I have a nano, so the tank gets dirty fast. I used to spot feed with a turkey baster which still got food everywhere. your trick solved the problem, thanks!
I stumbled across this video just after you posted it and decided to try it since I was not seeing results from any other feeding method. I would have to battle my fish if I used pellets and some corals would never give a feeding response at all. After a couple weeks of doing it this way, all of my corals, even my ricordea's give an aggressively active feeding response. I have seen a significant improvement in polyp extension and color as well. This has even saved my Sun Coral as I always had a hard time feeding it. Thank you!
Dude I had acans that come from a tank that had crashed these guys were still alive barely .. half bleached colonies, lots of bleached corals etc .. I dipped & added them to my tank started using reef roids like this .. now two weeks later they are really coming back strong with a vengeance I've got baby acans growing all over these colonies, subbed :)
Thanks for the video! I stopped feeding my corals and nems in fear of putting excess nutrients in my tank but doing it this way instead of broadcasting will help eliminate waste. Just bought the syringes and am excited to get them and try the paste. 👍👍
I thought this was how you were supposed to feed reefroids lol Didn't know it was a rare technique and most just dump it in there tanks. Great video! Thanks for sharing it
thank a lot for the effort and info .... how many times we can feed this mix? like once per week or month/s? and is this enough for corals or i need to give them something else?
I was thinking great I've been doing it wrong all these years. That exactly how I have always done it. Glad to see that I am doing it right. Nice looking corals!
I know there's a thick rubber glove thats tank safe that goes up past your elbow. And there an extendable syringe that might work. I think its called the "Julian's thing"
Was the syringe 12ml, and can you keep and reuse what mixture you don't use? I know it's an old video, but just found this and going to try it with my Duncan and Zoas starting today. Thanks!
I wouldn't save the mixture, it will go bad. You can use any size syringe it just depends on how much coral you want to feed. And over time I found the zoas didn't really like it.
I am going to have to try feeding like this. I normally feed it much more diluted but to see your corals react to the food like that was really cool. Thanks for the tip and great video.
I know this is an older video. I'm just thinking about starting a saltwater tank, been doing fresh forever. I keep watching this video for the video, stunning, informative but GORGEOUS. I've been so scared to start so now I'm looking at what to buy first to transition, then how to care for. Thank you for this inspirational great video.
I was doin it twice a week. Then it was once a week the day before a water change. Now for the last year I dont feed them at all and they seem to be doin great
Torch don't eat? Crap I've been feeding all my euphillia for the last year. Wasnt sure if using a paste method of reef roids would be okay for them hence why I asked.
Quite a genius technique! I will be trying this paste tomorrow. I haven't fed my corals in a couple of weeks so they'll be starving for it! 👍💙🐠 P.S. Love the Betty Crocker spoons! 😂😉
This was a great video and now I know where I have been going wrong big time .... going to start feeding my Gonipora your way and see if I can make a difference 🤗🤗 can’t wait for you to get a new camera either Billy those acans are so beautiful 😀
Have you tried on frogspawn or hammers? What about nems? I know you said your fish eat some, so I'm assuming it's safe for aquariums with fish? Super interested in trying this stuff.
Received these same syringes yesterday, liked the idea of a curved tip. However, I noticed after a couple of seconds of feeding, the syringe gets stuck? Also, my reef roids is very watery and not paste-like, even though I added a little amount of water. Any idea why the syringe gets stuck and yours don't?
Directions are on the container. It really depends on how many corals you want to feed as well. I feed a lot of colonies and I use 1 tsp when I feed using my method
Great video brother. Where did you get that syringe from I have seen it sold just don’t remember where. I have been using it for a while and love it. I like the way you mix it to a thicker paste.
OMG I make it thick as well! So many people use the long feeding syringes and you just see them let out what looks like smoke or something with no consistency! The only thing is some of the corals dont seem to have a mouth and thinking that maybe I should do it that way for those corals and maybe they can absorb it better through their flesh. Like sps and my lobos, symphyllia and chalice. I love the syringe tip you use, looks like you can get around to some difficult to reach polyps with that. I think I saw one on amazon but didint really think how well it would work. Did you get it off amazon? The syringe I use is unable to suck up the thicker food I make as well so I have to add water and then I add the reef roids powder directly in the syringe and shake it up or use a pipette to stir it. I cant say whether or not it has increased growth because I have always done it that way and still pretty much a newbie as well! Love your channel!
I do all my corals like you did the zoa application; acloud floating just above the corals that falls right onto everything since there's no flow. So basically the same technique but 3-4" away from the coral instead of directly onto it. Works very well, but I'd like to see a side by side now that I've seen your method.
Just curious, when you sprayed the zoas with reef roids did you use the same thick batch you made for the acans or did you make a separate less concentraded mix?
Sjet it was the same batch but I sucked in some water before shooting it out so it was a less thick mix. But I have fed zoas the thick way and they love it
nice video! I like your method of using reef roids and can't wait to try it out. Where do you get that syringe, it has a neat angled spout that looks perfect for this. My syringe is from my kids tylenol and has a very short spout making it hard to aim the food at poylps that are facing down or to the sides.
So i tried this method on my frogspawn, duncans, bubble tip anemone, candy canes, acans, even some discosoma mushrooms and they all gobbled up the reef roids. Thanks for this video, very helpful!
+Dmitry Tumanov I watched em grab it and pull it in. They are encrusting ery fast and I have a low light low flow tank so I think the roids are helping
Awesome video. Two questions... 1. You do not have any annoying cleaner shrimp in your tank? If so, how do you go about not having them attack the corals during feeding? 2. Have you yourself or have you heard of others using reef roids for bubble tip anemones and it having a positive effect?
yaridong funny you ask that lol. I made sure this tank didn't have of the shrimp this time. Otherwise I used to feed the shrimp and then the Coral. And I've heard my method works with anemones
excellent video! and I use almost the same technique with the product, what I wanted to ask you is if you feed yourself at night when the lights go out? or in the day?
So you admit your corals are using Performance Enhancing Drugs? LMAO. Good video Billy
Dave's Nano Tanks lolol
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Roids LOL
I've been adding a little reef roids in my oatmeal in the morning. I feel a lot better and have even stopped being a coffee drinker. Amazing product.
Lol 👍
I tried it for a week and a half. ...And I had to come back and say "ThankYou"!!! My Shrooms, Zoas, Palys and Blastos are showing better color and are fully extended all day. THANKS BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gary roseborough awesome 👍 👍 spread the word 👍

Awesome. Just remember once a week goes a long way with this method👍
My son and I had debated how to best use the ReefRoids and your video has settled the argument. Many thanks! We have now subscribed to your feed.
Thank you👍👍👍
I’ve been doing the same thing for 5 years and it’s awesome. Crazy coral growth!!
😄😄😄
I just tried this tonight for the first time. Wow, thanks man! Cant believe how quick my corals reacted to it. The second the food hits while mixing it this way they react and start to open. Very cool technique for target feeding, im'ma have to try that
Reef Builders 👍. Your video looked to be more fun though lol
this is by far one of the best coral feeding videos i have ever seen. thanks
Eldridge Henry, thank you! I really like sharing everything that works and doesn't. And this definitely works 👍
you can activate other corals feeding response by putting a tiny bit of reef roids in the tank while the flow is going. turn off pumps and feed acans and stuff first, by the time you finish, candy canes and chalices should have their feeders out.
Derek Saunders 👍👍

Porpoise Hork that's awesome news👍👍👍. Tried to feed my huge trachy mysis yesterday and he was like no thanks I'll take the roids please lol
The corals love this when I tried it. Thanks for the tip! No more broadcast feeding.
EDK ReefMeister yup yup 👍👍👍

thank a lot for the effort and info .... how many times we can feed this mix? like once per week or month/s? and is this enough for corals or i need to give them something else?
Glad it helped. I would feed once a week max. And this with good lighting is all they need. I also rely on uneaten thawed frozen fish food as well
@@BillyPipes thanks again… is there any general special instructions in regard of feeding?!
@@AliMohamed-jg6bv just go slow at first. See how each coral responds with just a little food
Amazing advice, I tried this way tonight and considering this is the first time my corals loved it. I've never seen them puff up like this before.👍
👍I would feed em like every 6 days
I was thinking great I've been doing it wrong all these years. That exactly how I have always done it. Glad to see that I am doing it right. Nice looking corals!
👍👍
Great video and thanks for sharing. I'm just now getting into this hobby but doing all the research I need before I pull the trigger
Thank you
Txs for the video, can this method be use for torches and anemones as well?
Torches are hit or miss. I've never tried it on anemones before, they prefer meaty food like mysis
A very helpful video. Nicely done and the results you show speak for themselves
👍👍👍
how do i get it to bottom of tank with a 3 ft deep 215 gallon tank . any tips . also have a puffer trying to nip me while me hand is in
I know there's a thick rubber glove thats tank safe that goes up past your elbow. And there an extendable syringe that might work. I think its called the "Julian's thing"
Will this work for my Torch coral ?
I've never had luck feeding euphyllia
Hey Billy. I do it this way as well. Do you also spot feed other corals with it? LIke any SPS or say, plate corals? Or Scolys?
Lisa DeMayo plate corals, trachys, and scolys I feed the same way. Sps I spray the same way I spray the zoas at the end of the video 👍
Very good. what is the precise ratio between Water and reef-roids? and how often shpuld I do it?
The ratio really depends on tank size and how many corals you want to feed. And 1-2 times per week is plenty👍
@@BillyPipes Thank you. But I meant, for the teaspoon of reef-roids, how much water you mix with it? like how big is the Siringe you use? 5ml? 10ml?
Great video! Do you find that reef roids elevates your phosphates? Only reason why I stopped using it.
I always did a water change the day after I fed roids
Was the syringe 12ml, and can you keep and reuse what mixture you don't use? I know it's an old video, but just found this and going to try it with my Duncan and Zoas starting today. Thanks!
I wouldn't save the mixture, it will go bad. You can use any size syringe it just depends on how much coral you want to feed. And over time I found the zoas didn't really like it.
Amazing I am new and this just gave me hope, while watching your video I purchased some reef roids .. Cant wait!! Thanks and great job
G2 Customs 👍👍👍
This one vid answers a lot of my Roid questions. I was using way too much water in the blend and this makes far more sense.
Glad it helped
I am going to have to try feeding like this. I normally feed it much more diluted but to see your corals react to the food like that was really cool. Thanks for the tip and great video.
Thanks 😊 its still the only way I feed my coral👍👍
Such a great idea...I was just mixing it up and dumping it in the tank.....I'm about to go feed now!! Thanks!!
Brian's Aquariums that's how I did it at first. You'll love this way of doing it
Ive been dumping it in as well. BRB!!! haha.
Brian's Aquariums
Same...I was making a watery/cloudy mess of my reef roids! 😂💙🐠

Thank you. Good luck 👍
Can you use this method for torches? What about montipora? What about SPS?
I showed/told how I use it for them in the video 👍
Wow great video! So how often do you feed your corals?
1-2 times a week is good. But 1 time a week i think is plenty
brs and coral frenzy are inconsistent. this is just uniform. i love it.
Great video. How would you feed hammers and torches. Thanks
Thanks, and i never feed euphyllia.
Do you cut a little bit of the tip of the syringe?
Just a tiny bit
Good advice - thanks - your acans look awesome. Your meticulous feeding is clearly paying off!
Reef Eco thanks. Those acans are my pride and joy lol
Billy, please respond, i use the same syringe but the reef roids just clog the nozzle. Some help?
Where did you get this syringe? I have a Turkey baser that isn't any where near as clean or consistent as this.
I think they have them on Amazon
I was using it wrong!!! Just feed using your method and it worked!!!!
cnrv85 👍👍👍
Hey mate not sure if I missed it in the video but how many times a week do you feed your corals like this?
1-2 times a week is plenty 👍
Billy Pipes ok thanks
How often do you feed your Coral
I was doin it twice a week. Then it was once a week the day before a water change. Now for the last year I dont feed them at all and they seem to be doin great
Great tips thank you! Gona def purchase some..
How many times a week do you feed the reef roids?
Gb J thanks 👍. And 1-2 times a week
I might have missed it, but how many times a week do you feed them? Is your po4 affected at all?
Great video btw!
Thanks. And I don't really test po4 much
Great info I took your advice and bought some months ago I was using it with my mix I think I like your method better👍
Juss Less tell me what you think after about 2 weeks of this method
Billy Pipes ok will do
Great video. Thanks for the sharing .
Billy , does feeding roids increase the nitrate in the water if the tank is not running on skimmer ?
I've never tested after using it.
When you mix reefroids with water, what kind of water? Salt or fresh? Thanks
Saltwater right from the tank
I have a Biocube 14 how much do I add? Does Reef Roids expire? I have a jar that's probably over 5 years old.
I wouldn't use it if its that old. And a 1/4 tblspn should be 👍
Company just said it was fine..sent pictures.
How often do I feed my corals with this ? Thanks
Once a week is plenty
Am I to understand that I should feed corals just twice a week? I have 6 corals, any feedback you can give will be much appreciated.
That's all I've been doing and it's giving me really good results 👍
Can i use this technique to spot feed Torch, and euphyillia, aswell as bubble tip anemones?
Sam Maki torch/euphyllia don't eat . Anemone yes. Not sure about the bubble coral
Torch don't eat? Crap I've been feeding all my euphillia for the last year. Wasnt sure if using a paste method of reef roids would be okay for them hence why I asked.
Sam Maki give it a try with the paste method. It might eat it but most euphyllia don't benefit from spot feeding
Nice. The syringe you used is the key to letting you get each polyp even the hard to reach ones.
Arrick L I love that syringe 👍
Oddly SO satisfying to watch 👍
Thanks 😊
Should I feed my candy cane coral reef roids once a week or do they need fed more often ?
Once a week is good.👍
Should I take my time? Or go fast I’m confused?
Take your time👍
Hi
Thanks for the great info. Anything left from your frag tank , I'm in East Windsor nj
Alec Sapounas yup. Email me @ Billy.pipes@yahoo.com
So wen u feed the zoas or polips do u do a different bashed not as thick as the paste or is it the same paste?
Yes, but I pull more water into the syringe after feeding the lps coral to make it more watery
So which do you like best or better reef roids or coral candy billy.
I think they are both very similar
Hello Billy, any ideas who alls Reef Roids in the UK please. nice film. Tony - Salisbury Eng
I'm not sure. Maybe Amazon
How much do you put in with a 55 gallon tank.
I just go by what the instructions say
Quite a genius technique! I will be trying this paste tomorrow. I haven't fed my corals in a couple of weeks so they'll be starving for it! 👍💙🐠
P.S. Love the Betty Crocker spoons! 😂😉
BLUE DAMSEL lol...I love this spoons lol
This was a great video and now I know where I have been going wrong big time .... going to start feeding my Gonipora your way and see if I can make a difference 🤗🤗 can’t wait for you to get a new camera either Billy those acans are so beautiful 😀
PsychedelicBabe 👍. Do a video on feeding the goni👍
How many mls of water do you add mate?
Really depends on how much roids you're using. In my case it's 1 tsp roids, 10mls tank water
So I'm saying tho! How often are you using this? Once a week? Twice a week?
Once a week is good👍
Have you tried on frogspawn or hammers? What about nems? I know you said your fish eat some, so I'm assuming it's safe for aquariums with fish? Super interested in trying this stuff.
I haven't tried anemones but ppl tell me frogspawn and hammer eat it up👍
Soooooo you’re supposed to take shot of it after feeding?
🤮🤮
Would this work for bubble tip anemone???
Im not sure, its the only thing i didn't have to test with
Idk if it's been asked. Where did you get that syringe? Also do u feed the euphillya?
Brandon Garig I got my syringe from the dentist but I think someone put a Amazon link in the comment section. And I don't feed euphyllia
Hi. I love your video. Just a quick question. Do you dissolve reef roids in salt water or RO water to make that “paste”? Thank you
Saltwater 👍
Received these same syringes yesterday, liked the idea of a curved tip. However, I noticed after a couple of seconds of feeding, the syringe gets stuck? Also, my reef roids is very watery and not paste-like, even though I added a little amount of water.
Any idea why the syringe gets stuck and yours don't?
Sam Maki i.cut the tip of the syringe off a little bit
if you don't mind me asking how many times a week do you do that
Twice a week 👍
Do you leave any lighting on at night
No but I've been thinking about adding moonlighting
please i need a help i have a 120 galons fish thank what is the amount of reef-roids i need to used in my coral?
Directions are on the container. It really depends on how many corals you want to feed as well. I feed a lot of colonies and I use 1 tsp when I feed using my method
Great video brother. Where did you get that syringe from I have seen it sold just don’t remember where. I have been using it for a while and love it. I like the way you mix it to a thicker paste.
EAT SLEEP Reef thanks. I got it from the dentist. But eBay should have it
How do you get it to mix so thick?
I only add about 12ml of tank water to 2 teaspoons of roids👍
Awesome info Billy! Gonna do this starting today, see what happens, but I do like the syringe, where did you get that?!
Cleve Torres thanks. I got it from my dentist. Maybe check eBay

have you tried coral frenzy? just curious to know results vs reef roids
I haven't tried it. After the first container of reefroids was empty and I had such good results I just stayed with it
Thanks for the info. I just got some reef roids recently and was just broadcasting it. This will deffinately help me out.

Lps love the thick method👍
Great stuff man, thanks for sharing! For how long do you let them eat before you turn on the pumps again?
I usually went 10-12 max minutes with no flow👍
Thanks for the video! I've been using too much water & most of it gets wasted & just floats away. Can't wait to try your method.
Footlong_ Cheezesteak 👍👍👍
Just curious, when you sprayed the zoas with reef roids did you use the same thick batch you made for the acans or did you make a separate less concentraded mix?

So i tried this method on my frogspawn, duncans, bubble tip anemone, candy canes, acans, even some discosoma mushrooms and they all gobbled up the reef roids. Thanks for this video, very helpful!
+CrackerJack awesome! Try it once a week for like 2 weeks to see if they want it more than once a week.
Do you think this would work with acros? especially the ones that are not "hairy".
+Dmitry Tumanov yup. But I dust them the same way I dust the zoas towards the end of the video
How would they consume the roids though? Are you assuming that they will release a polyp, grab a particle and bring it back in the body.
+Dmitry Tumanov I watched em grab it and pull it in. They are encrusting ery fast and I have a low light low flow tank so I think the roids are helping
Sweet. Let me know if you want an AquaticLog account, I will gladly hook you up.
+Dmitry Tumanov what's that?
how often are you feeding the roids?
1-2 times a week
Do you mix it with tap water or the same water from your tank?
Tank water 👍
Very informative thanks for taking the time to make the vid!
Thank you very much 👍
Great video. I've been using Reef Roids the same way but mine is not as thick as yours. I'm gonna try to use less water!! Thanks Billy!

How often do you feed reef roids? Is the syringe one you can get on Amazon?
Mark Ruddy about every 5-6 days. And I think Amazon has the syringe 👍
Billy Pipes thanks Billy. Found both the roids and syringe (hope this comment doesn't set off alarm bells) on Amazon.
What size syringe are you using?
I’ve wondered how others were doing this, thanks for the tip!
Michael Cross I think it's about 10-15 mL
Billy Pipes I found them on eBay, it’s a 12ml. Thanks for the reply!!
excellent video! and I use almost the same technique with the product, what I wanted to ask you is if you feed yourself at night when the lights go out? or in the day?
Ive done night and day feeding. I think I saw better results when I fed at night only
I’ll try it later. I love your little nosy goby. Sooo cute!
