INSIDE THE DOGHOUSE: Baseball Alum & NYPD Officer Benjamin Beiro Lauded As Hero After Saving Runner

In this edition of Inside The Doghouse, we caught up with former John Jay Baseball Alum Benjamin Beiro '11. Beiro is an officer in the NYPD Central Park Precinct and was recently recognized by the Department after saving a man's life in Central Park. The man was a participant of the TCS NYC Marathon 18 mile Training Series. Nearing the finish line, the man went into cardiac arrest and collapsed and Beiro and his partner were the first to respond. They began chest compressions and retrieved an AED. After a few minutes, the man's pulse was restored and he regained consciousness as EMS transported him to a local hospital. The man is doing fine, and he was even able to shake both officers' hands and thank them.
