Hey, Katherine! I sell scrubs/medical shoes for a living. I’m sorry you had this experience with Dansko… whoever sold these to you didn’t educate you on how to wear Dansko. The company recommends, quite like contact lenses, that you slowly break in their shoe. Wear them for a two or three hours then switch back to your normal shoe of choice. Every day, increase the amount of time you wear them. Wear them around the house… do your laundry in them.. vacuum the living room. Slowly break the leather in.
Also, Dansko’s are handmade in Italy. You can try on 3 different pairs of 38’s and each one might fit a touch different. You should try again! That pair just might’ve been too tight for you.
I wish I would’ve fitted you and sold you a pair.. give ‘em a chance again. They’re a great product. They correct the way you walk and stand and take pressure off your ankles, knees and hips.
The key is to slowly break them in. If that isn’t for you, maybe you like the instant gratification of memory foam lol.
Think of it like a mattress. A soft foamy mattress feels so good as soon as you lay on it, but in the long run, it doesn’t support your spine the way a firm mattress would. That’s how Dansko is. It may take some time, but it’s better for your feet and joints even if you think your foot anatomy is ‘weird’. I
Hey, Nicholas! Thanks for watching and thanks for your insight!
Dansko's are made in China, not Italy.

As a former nurse, and now a podiatry student who wore Dansko, I can tell that you didn't try them on in store did you? I think that's the biggest issue at hand. Dansko is a tricky fit and if you don't try them on making sure that the band of leather at the midfoot fit snug, you will have this problem that you had.
If you bought the 2.0 like what your video suggest, I highly recommend you take the insole out. It is possible to do with the 2.0 Dankso clogs and I believe you will get a much better result. Do let me know how it goes! :)
Hey Rathvitou! You are correct that I did not try them on as Dansko sent these to me for free in return that I make a video of how it goes 😊
Thank you for the tips though! Hoping it will help others out there too!
I have been wearing Dansko clogs for the past 10 years of my nursing career and love them. They are the only shoe that has helped my sore feet. However, I just got a pair of Hoka’s and I will be trying them on this weekend at work. Hoping they are just as good for me as Dansko’s are.
How’d it go?
I have wide flat feet with bunions. I love Dansko for their arch support. My feet definitely are swollen after a long day of procedures but I think if I wore compression stockings (which I don’t) my feet would probably be less swollen.
Cotton socks cause swelling like crazy!!
Misleading title. Why would you put 30 day review when you only did one day? Be honest. No need for clickbait.
You got the XP. Should try the Classic. It’s a better shoe.
I'll look into it! Any other brand recommendations?
Im a retail manager love them. There are 3 types. For different needs. Classic Professional, XP-extra protection and lt-lighter weight.
Thanks for sharing!
I love all your reviews on commonly worn nurse things!
Same. My feet hurt soooo bad after wearing mine for a full shift. They’re just sitting in my closet now…
I have a high instep and wear Dansko pro heels almost exclusively. I don't know what I would do without them, actually. Sorry they didn't work for you!
I am a larger woman with wide feet. I love my Dansko clogs with compression stockings. I could never wear sneakers.
Glad to hear you love them!
Clogs are great shoes, but I agree with the nurse, the full clogs hit the same bone, but the slide-on clogs do not have the problem. But Dansko clogs have excellent arch support. Clogs are back in style. Boston clogs are very popular gen z
Thanks for your thoughts!
Thank you for the honest review. I too have the same foot anatomy. I will stick to my B.O.C clogs. Those are so comfy!! And a lot more affordable. 😍
Its usually a fit problem. They should be tried on in store for perfect fit. A pinky width between heel and back of shoe. Correct positioning of the arc support, plenty of wiggle room in toe box. USUALLY the issue.
Thanks for the insight!
Dansko clogs need to be broken in. I also have high instep, so I bought a shoe tree that opens top to bottom to stretch the instep. It became comfortable after 2 days of stretching. Dansko clogs fixed my lower back pain after I got use to it. I wish I could wear it outside of work lol. Maybe go to an official store and try out the sizes to get a better fit one without the need of shoe tree stretching. wish you the best.
I agree, they absolutely need to be broken in. That's great that you had success with them helping your lower back pain. Thanks for watching!
Omg I can relate when I tried Hoka’s my feet hurt so bad half way through a 12 hour shift.
I just heard of those! They look comfortable though!
I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in my thoughts about Danskos. I have high arches, as well as very narrow feet, but these Danskos have a crazy high arch. I can’t imagine that anyone with a flat arch could even tolerate them for 1 minute! I have gotten used to them, but don’t wear them everyday. I switch off w/ running shoes. The tops of feet at times hurt, too. I’m disappointed as this shoe is pretty expensive not to fit/feel right...even after it’s broken in (I’d say a few weeks). I’m really curious as to what kind of foot works well in Danskos!!
Thanks for your thoughts on this Kristin!
I've had them since November, these shoes are terrible, my feet hurt so bad....maybe when they break-in about 2yrs from now
Thank for your honesty. I have fallen arches, so these might be for me. Are the insoles removable?
Hey Anita, thanks for watching! According to their website, they do have a removable foot bed that can accommodate orthotics. Although, I haven't tried it!
I agree with the nurse, but Dansko arch support is great
Some people love them!
My wife's uncle is a doctor and he stopped wearing them after numerous ankle sprains. I've never tried them but any shoe that literally has no flex is out for me.
oh my gosh i can imagine they’re practically like heels. i have some regular clogs dansko and i’ve twisted my ankle luckily it wasn’t a super big sprain
Maybe that the single chunk of PU foam doesn't do much molding. I hope everyone here has had a chance to experience boots/shoes like Nick's or JK (their forefronts are amazing). They are comfortable after the stacks of leather inside, mold to your foot. They have softer white outsoles too. I can stand on concrete for 12 hours a day, and use them in the gym too. They last dozens of years of worn indoors - especially hospital floors. PS. never break in a shoe while working!
Thanks for your thoughts!
I tried Danskos years ago and by hour 4 going up and down halls, rooming patients, just your basic med assistant things, I was limping. So much pain! I went back to my Brooks. Now I wear Balas and are very happy with them (but not the cardio workout I go through to get them on).
LOL! Thank you for your comment Gail! I also had a hard time putting on Balas, but overtime it felt like I mastered it :p
I have dansko pros and I soaked rhwm in the sink with scalding water for about half an hour. Then put on 2 pairs of socks and put them on until dry. Then, I condition the leather upper and they fit like a glove
Interesting! Thanks for sharing!
I'm trying to encourage a friend into Danskos. Probably won't share this lol.
Haha, some people love them! I was just not a fan of them.
In my opinion Dansko style clogs almost just as that's bad to wear on your feet as Dutch wooden clogs. Even if they're different materials they felt uncomfortable on day one. They are both heavy. Last of all they both feel better the longer you wear them.
Some people love them and others hate them, I'm glad there's a variety of different brands and styles to choose from!
@@Katherine_Ann I didn't say I didn't like them. This is what I noticed about them and read. I wore both style clogs they feel too similar.
I'm so happy to know that someone else has my same weird foot anatomy!!! I too have a high top bone and the exact same vein like you. When danskos hit me there wrong its very painful my foot swells to. Your not alone! 😒😕
So happy I'm not the only one, LOL!
I think this whole experiment would have made more sense if you wore the clogs at home for a while before going and using them at work.
Hey Tyler! I've always been a firm believer that if you get a pair of shoes for work, you should be able to wear them right away for work. Call me stubborn 😂 but that's what I like to do 😊
Thank you for your input though!
Perhaps break it in outside of work. There are also many different shoe styles there, I hope you try another.
I've definitely tried many styles catered to health care professionals!
@@Katherine_Ann that’s a shame. I really love my dansko shoes. I’m a bit giant in general for clogs, but I really love their dress shoes. That and Hoka are a god send.
my wife is a nurse manager she went to crocs couldn't do the clogs anymore!
It's interesting what people prefer!
Those ones hurt my feet. I just purchased the Dansko Kane and I love them from Zappos. I have a medium arch but Im not a nurse lol 😂
Thanks for watching and for your insight!
@@Katherine_Ann no problem
i’m a man and i’m a size 14 shoe and wide foot/flat foot too
😔
I returned mine after one day of wear.. lol. One side fit perfectly.. while the other was too tight. Weird.
That's why her initial video said they recommended trying them on and size to your larger foot. No ones has 2 feet exact same size.
Cool shoes and socks!
What is it like going down stairs with them on
Hey Monty! To be honest, I cant remember, I'm not sure if i ever has to wear them on stairs!
@@Katherine_Ann Just saying would u
@@montywormald7089 hmmm! Probably not 😂
Can you wear them in the rain?
I would imagine you could but I never tried it!
welll maybe now
Make sure you stay tuned... it'll be HUGEEE
👌🏻
2 days!?
Yesss :(
@@Katherine_Ann I sent you an email on some insoles. Check it out when you have a moment.
Terrible review.
Hi J, thanks for your feedback. How could I have made this better?
