The exhaust pop is caused by the mixture being wrong ( too lean) with the aftermarket muffler. Even the stock muffler is too loud for my taste.. having ridden bmws for 50 years...and they were always very quiet. Noise causes fatique, which makes you stupid, and stupid is dangerous. good for you for going the right direction !
I agree with you. I did recently switch back as my 2 sons enjoy the “stupid” noise 😀. But yes, when I ride long I’ll just switch back. Just takes a few minutes.
At that point in the video I was draining out the oil. And yes over 4 liters came out of the bike, the previous owner had over filled the bike. When adding oil properly as per the manual, you only need about 2.5 liters. This bike is very specific about how to properly drain and fill oil and also how to start the bike. 😀
Did your bike come with the faux tank well cover? I'm looking at a 2003, but the Seller only has the tank bag that straps into the well, and I think the hard cover looks better and makes the bike look more normal.
hi, i can't see nothing on the oil level on mine, it's not very clear to see where the level is i saw that it cover the min and max because i can not see the written no more, so i think it past it beyond the max level
My manual says nothing about pre soaking the filter. "Fully drain the oil and clean the oil-filter housing. Fit a new filter element onto the oil-filter cover."
I don’t soak but on car filters I add fresh oil whenever possible to reduce the amount of time it takes for the filter to fill up with oil and prevent oil starvation.
Per manual - Oil filter cover bolts, tighten to 10 Nm
My friend, as a longtime BMW owner if BMW recommends something I do it. They have thought this through.

Good stuff
At 2:42 , do you mean 4.5 pints or 2.5 liters? the manual says the capacity is 2.5 liters?

Hi, nice video. What is this thing next to your rear break, that fell off at 3:17 . I have the same bike but don't have that part on mine. Thanks.
Charcoal Canister. It is emission equipment fitted to US models.

No I bought that aftermarket. I believe they are no longer available.

Check your air filter and the area near the battery, it may be covered in oil. Mine was a mess! My other video of the first service talks about it.
Manual says the oil filter should be soaked before installing, looks like this step was nor made.

yes, good mechanics trick

Did your bike come with the centre stand?
Ah, I just found your centrestand install video :)
@@clasdauskas my '03 scarver came with a center stand
@@goatsticks101 did you buy the scarver new? or could a previous owner have installed an aftermarket one?
Likely done by previous owner. They did not come with one new to my knowledge.
