William Roberts is a real gem to have in the watch community. It was a pleasure meeting him (I had no idea ‘who’ I was talking to at the time). So polite, honest and forthcoming with his knowledge. Thanks for the advice Spacefruit!
I have a 145.012-67 I bought back in 1969 just before Neil landed on the Moon. It's been repaired a couple of times but I still wear it every day and it still looks new. I love it!
What a great video, and what an astonishing collection. I have had an obsession with Speedmasters since my early teens, now in my late sixties. I am hoping my wife takes the hint and finally lets me have one for my 70th! Mr Roberts is an amazing collector of these pieces. I live in awe of him.
This story gets me a bit emotional to be honest. To have longed for this watch more than 50 years and still to be hopeful to acquire one. I hope you get one real soon. I love my Speedmaster and think it’s the best watch in the world. You should have the same experience. If your priorities get even close to pulling the trigger on one of these I hope you do. Much love from a Speedmaster enthusiast.
Wei! Hands Down you have produced THEEEE BEST Speedmaster interviews (i.e., Davidoff Bros, and Mr William Roberts). Hodinkee Reference Points is right there, but nobody matches your personality, verve, passion, and excitement for gaining and sharing knowledge. Keep it up my man!
Watched this before owning a speedmaster a few years ago. Now I have a 3861 sapphire and im back watching this - what a feeling. So informative and sets the tone on how one should approach appreciating the omega speedmaster. Thanks.
Fantastic interview. Important unique collection with so much history you could write a book about it! Really great job guys and thank you for sharing with us.
Contrary to Mr. Koh's assertion, there are PLENTY of well worn, beat up Rolex watches (and I know he knows this). I bet a good amount of the ones that are pristine were probably bought to mark an important achievement or event in the owner's life and therefore was well taken care of. At any rate, it was an awesome interview! Even thought I now mostly collect Rolex watches, I still have one Speedamster and there is no doubt that the Speedmaster has a well deserved following.
Watch stories, meetings, buying make it all the more exciting, knowing you have what you always wanted to wear or part of your collection, and what a collection he has.
This video has me seriously considering a speedmaster. I’ve never thought of it honestly, not much of an omega fan but those watches have aged so well. It’s truly a classic design and I think I gotta have one
This is a lovely video, many thanks for posting this...and I may say, your website Speedmaster101 is simply superb. I only have two Speedmasters a 1976 model which my mum and dad bought me and a new 2018 version.....thak you so very much for sharing your knowledge on these beautiful watches.
Amazing video to watch Wei, over the years my watch collection has gone in different diffraction but now I am thinking more about an emphasis on more Vintage Omega Speedmasters after watching your most recent video as well on the 50th Anniversary. When I first met you in person you inspired me to buy which to this day is still one of my favourite timepieces one of the very first Girard-Perregaux that you unveiled, a breakthrough providing a revolutionary solution to improve isochronism in wristwatches - the Constant Escapement. The idea of Nicolas Déhon dates from the late 1990s I later learnt when he started to elaborate the first ELF (Echappement à Lame Flambée) design and was brought to life a few years later thanks to modern technology and silicon. I now have two of these, about to purchase a third, while they may not of retained the initial value, they will be in my collection for decades to come and handed down to my children and grand children. While the timepiece can easily be mistaken as an elaborate SWATCH to an untrained eye, I think it will in time be something that will be talked about in the same way as the great significance to modern American horological history, New York City and a watch worn by one of the most well known architects. I am talking about the massively iconic and rather under-appreciated Bulova Accutron Spaceview 214. A watch Sir Richard Rogers has owned for over 44 years and the crowning achievement in Bulova's incredible history of innovation in watchmaking .
Great video. Brilliant collection.I love my Speedy .The history that this watch has is fascinating. Incidentally ,William Roberts reminds me of the late ,great Tony Wilson the Factory records boss .
I must say, I wanted a speed master for a while and when I came across this video I went out a year ago to the Omega boutique and bought one. Sadly to say I bought it right before covid-19 and I live in a state where I can't really go out so I have never worn it and it just sits in a safe. Hopefully life gets back to normal someday and I can wear it out to dinner and what not. I didn't buy it to wear to work and get it damaged. Anyway this video inspired me to buy one and now I am on the hunt for a seamaster. OMEGA rules!!!!
At 17:50 He starts to explain why some Omega Speedmasters have the mk2 hands, this is information that has been hard to find. I was given my father's Omega Speedy pro, when he passed away. He absolutely loved the watch. And it has the mk2 hands, but also a later late 70s dial. On the cashback it has a 1979 service mark. This is all coming together now as the watch is an original 1969 watch.
Big Omega fan hope to acquire the new speedmaster in moonshine gold... Have a Rolex GMT2 anniversary dial 18k and the omega would make an excellent complimentary piece
Could William share the Portugal watch dealer contact? Im from Portugal aswell. And im looking for a vintage rolex day date presidential full gold. I have a particular taste for vintages. Ps: Im 23 years old and i have no vintage watch yet. So any advice on aquiring and keep them in good condition i do apreciate.
this is officially one of my favorite youtube videos of all time now
OMG Me too.
He reminds me of James May
lol thought the same thing
Exactly :)
#missdoubtfire RES IN PEACE
So correct.
I’ve watched this video over and over since it came out. Please make more long form videos with speedmaster collectors, I need it!

My love for speed masters has been reignited
I thought I knew a little about the Speedmasters. I was wrong.

Man, that is a amazing collection.
Fantastic - what a collection and what a guy!!
Quite how a video this genuine and of such high quality only has 37k views is beyond me. Fantastic work and some serious knowledge on display here.
Incredible collection. And honestly nobody can blame him for this. The most beautiful watch to collect in all honesty.
nothing more sexy than seeing 2 people geeking out about a joint passion
Well that was a great omega education. Thanks to everyone involved, that was great viewing!
Wow, two true connoiseurs and enthousiasts. So inspiring. Now I want a speedmaster too!
Fantastic interview. Important unique collection with so much history you could write a book about it! Really great job guys and thank you for sharing with us.

This guy's got true class. He's so different from those brash garish guys who show off their bling bling watches on RUclips.

I don't know how many times I have come back to this already
I’ve watched this video 4-5 times over the years
Insane collection. Thanks for sharing.
Wow.... amazing pieces... nice story, history and passion!
Mr. Koh I recently found your YouTub station and VLOG thru Hodinkee and am glad I did, an outstanding site !! Cheers

Great video. Brilliant collection.I love my Speedy .The history that this watch has is fascinating. Incidentally ,William Roberts reminds me of the late ,great Tony Wilson the Factory records boss .
That was awesome!, thanks
This was just stunning! Just like the watches...
Lost count of the number of times I've watched this film,my son said 'That's not a watch box, that's a watch coffin! LOL'
One of the best interview ever!

Only one word: Class

Why not just wear it? It’s not like it rare
I’ve got an early 60s gold seamaster that I wear everyday and I’m 23. The watch is bullet proof and imo deserves to be worn
Superb video!
That was excellent!

Thank you
Lovely!!!
Cool interview. Speedmaster101 is great!
What a Speedy collection & what a cool guy 👍🏼
If there is a better watch video on RUclips, it still has to be found.
Nice guy, great video!
Fantastic video
it truly is the most beautiful watch of all time. Adore my sapphire sandwich.
that.was.extraordinary!
Very nice.
What watch was William wearing?
Great interview. What a collection !
Beautiful collection of Speedmasters. May I please find out the best way to keep a vintage watch? In a watch winder or in a watch box?
Pure class..unlike those loudmouth crass RUclipsrs who brag about their expensive watches.
Those watches are almost as spectacular as his hair
That is pretty good hair.
yes
it's spectaculhair.
AyıBeden right
ayiVedin. This comment deserves a few likes, Mate.
Beautiful :)
Cool video chaps .
that omega with the blue dial is the fucking bomb
Did anyone else put their Speedy on just to watch this video?
bluemystic7501 Still saving for my first, so not able to yet
eyy you got me
Indeed silver snoopy
23:23 Find you someone who looks at you the way Wei looks at William.
Welcome back
Best value quality timepiece at the moment
Makes me want a speedy vintage with petina
Maaaaaan on the mooooon, man on the moon.. ACIII approved.
Great that.
The whole video I was like “who is Amiga?” lol
great actor RIP
The Speedmaster dial is not an original Omega design. It comes from the 1954 Rodania Geometer that came first.
Big Omega fan hope to acquire the new speedmaster in moonshine gold... Have a Rolex GMT2 anniversary dial 18k and the omega would make an excellent complimentary piece
Yes
Amazing video with a great personality!
Hello guys, how do they keep the hesalite crystal spotless and scratchfree...Has it been replaced by a new one or has it been buffed.?
Which reference is the watch that Mr. Roberts is wearing. It's a speedmaster with a light color dial but I am curious to know more about it.
Fantastic collection, but what happened to the bracelets?
Only now I spot the Aston Martin Zagato
Im pretty sure the missing moonwatch worn in Apollo mission is there!
nice watch casket
5:37 DAYUM!!!
no 1976 Apollo-Soyuz 145.0022 ? The only Speedmaster chronograph without the wording "Speedmaster" on the dial...
"this is a truly.. shagged watch" IM FUCKING DEAD 12:58
