- Woo! Finally put this up! This video was a class project of mine. As a final assignment, we were given free reign to do any sort of sequential art we liked - and I thought what better than to make an animatic for my favorite DnD stream? For my first animatic ever, it definitely ended up being more demanding than I expected, and while it's still quite rough, I'm hoping it's successful in visualizing the narrative of the clip. :') I'd definitely love to do another one of these in the future.
For those who have not watched High Rollers or need a recap:
This scene takes place after the party has returned from their investigation of the enclave of Matron Kalex (a drow researcher of demons), as ordered by the medusa Queen Sharisa. The group has managed to convince the captain of her guard, Resnac, to assist them in their plot to overthrow Sharisa for good: by tricking her into petrifying herself with a hidden shard of mirror, slotted between pages of research notes.
Episode 22: • Plots & Plans! - HighR... (Scene starts at 2:16:55)
Thanks to the guys at High Rollers for creating such a wonderful and entertaining story. I look forward to where the rest of the adventure leads us!
High Rollers airs on / yogscast every Sunday at 5pm GMT.
If you'd like to see more of my art, I post to @dumbfrickinart on Twitter!
I remember watching this live - great moment - you're now making me want to binge back through all the old episodes
Tmw you realize your DM stole this plot and added it into the campaign so your character pretty much knows what's going to throw down.
I'm not kidding. Only it wasn't as epic as this
Lmao
We all have to draw inspiration from somewhere, and let's be honest' you're unlikely to be as good as any of these players.
I'm immediately thinking of that spongebob episode where Patrick goes around holding up Sponge Bob to people and screaming"You look at it! Look at it! Look at it! I want you all to look at it!"
This is awesome!! Laughed so hard when marks like 'what do you say to her'? Trott; I say 'F*** youuuu!' and his mouth opens. Love it. Hope you've found much joy and success with your art!
As a professional 3D animator I can say this is a very well done animatic. I would easily work with this with no problems in creating a full 3D animated sequence but it would take months on my own. Great job and keep it up, 3rd Floor is always looking for animatic and pre-viz and post-viz artists and they work on stuff like Marvel movies and big releases.
this is amazing. I love highrollers and this is a great animatic.
this is also one of the longest animatics I have ever seen

You should tweet this to the gang! Mark especially will be stoked, I'm sure. Maybe you can even get them to play it in the break
I’m only on episode 7 of their new campaign and i love it. I guess ill have to go back and watch their first one too.
For the all the platinum opon Bahamut's scales, please make more of these!
But in all seriousness, this is phenomenal work, both with your visual cues in time with the actual rp audio over it and with your excellent art style, that to me fits very well with the overall ascetic of D&D; an old, worn parchment is what the color scheme reminds me of. My only bit of criticism is to work on a bit of your linework on the characters, especially in the more static poses, such as while the Queen was sitting in her throne and you can make out an entire forearm that was scrapped in favor of the better placement. Simply polish up those little bits and I think you could get quite a name going for yourself, and as a fellow artist, I can not be happier then to see the success of art in any form. Keep going strong!
Thank you for the wonderful comment and the advice! I'll definitely keep that in mind with my next one. :')
Great animatic for a great moment! The art style is excellent.
good ol high rollers
This is so well done! Hopefully the High Rollers crew sees this, it's really neat. What sort of class did you do this for?
It was my sequential art class! We studied all sorts of things including character design, scene design, storyboarding, and comic design! It was super rigorous but I learned a ton. :')
6:07 jiutou's reaction though 😂😂
This is amazing!
... Medusa is kinda hot...
I know I would betray my party for some of that Medusa if you catch my drift. XD
Well made!
Wow I feel kinda bad for the queen :(
This is so good
Lovely work :D
I'm so glad I've found this
I would have loved if mark did a boondocks reference as he was holding the boock and said"now read n'gga read!"
I love your art style!
Especially a lightfall movie
We need an aerois movie
Really nice :)
nicely done
Better than critical role.
Moooooooooooorrrrrrrrreeeeeeeee
Wait. "Snarfnibbler"? I'm guessing inspiration from Monster Hunter's Nibblesnarf.
Svirfneblin, at least is how it should be spell, are Underdark-dwelling Deep Gnomes. Mark has just called them Snerfniblin for whatever reason.
Max Ducks
I'd like to play a Nibbelsnarf :D
I fucking hate Nibblesnarf 😡🤬
Max Ducks no to ruin your fun but no, DnD existed long before Monster Hunter
@@caseyhudson4929 I'd heard it was supposed to be pronounced Sveblin (the irf is silent) but I still pronounce it the way I see it
looking for painter to draw pics in same style like in this video
We need an aerois movie
