- Just joined Season 6 of Overwatch 2 and don't know what this new game mode is all about? Worry not, here's a two for one explanation and guide!

these maps are super strategy based and very csgo-esque. Looks to be very promising so far, though I can see some frustration if communication isn’t either teams strong suit.

No more startegy required than a normal capture point map or payload map.
A gametype having fundamental "ways to be played" that may not apply in other game modes doesnt make it (more strategic)
Its like me saying push is "super strategic" and "CSGO" like simply because its optimal in cases to not run robot to fight from advantageous positions or so the other team has to run further too touch on OT. Its just an idea promoted by the game-mode.
@@morky3673not only that, but bringing a free-to-play audience into an IP like Overwatch was bound to dilute the playerbase's knowledge of basic mechanics; getting good teams with the game's abhorrent matchmaking is an increasingly tall order no matter what ELO you are.
One thing I found happening a lot in Quick Play is the teams having a fight on the opposite side of the map compared to where the active point is. I was playing with a friend and we got to just afk on point while our team was battling the enemy on the other side on the map
Flashpoint is a huge Ball buff.

This is going to be a nightmare on qp. Even in comp if you arent on comms it will be hard. Even on comms you will have teammates who dont have ears or eyes

Comms in overwatch are not exist so it will be hard everywhere
One time I faced a ignorant enemy reaper he always charge in alone and hit support players like me (Moira) 20 meters away I keep telling him that he uses shotguns not rifles he took it personally and start to trash talk then the whole team both mine and the enemy team start to trash talk back he raged quit
He has 0 kills 0 assists 13 deaths and 408 damage I somehow remember the stats accurately
It is a nightmare. I've never won a single game in this mode out of 10 or so that I've played. Despite playing as adviced on priorizing living and trying not to stagger I always get matched vs way better players who can wreck us way better at dueling and supporting each other.
Heck I think I've only been able to capture a single point in all my playthroughs.
the first game i played lasted so long i had to take a break. That one game went on for like 30 minutes
Tbh that's should not be happening the games I had so far where really short
You must’ve had some crazy overtime then cause the longest I had used all the points + back and forth from all teams and it only really lasted about 15-20.
Each point is capped in like 2 minutes. How did it last that long?
It's the same as control point maps but instead of loading you into a new map they make you commute.
Is it just me, or that mode needs mini map like in moba games to find this mode easier to grasp? that would be a huge advantage for new players and implementing it could open possibilities to introduce "new" modes, like tower defense or bomb planting

Oh god, any game modes that require people to understand how a mode works is always a nightmare in OW. I mean even getting people to stop pushing the robot when you've won is hard to explain over coms...this is gonna be a nightmare!
Well bc it sounds counter intuitive to stop pushing the robot to win but I get what u mean you already won theres no need to keep pushing and make it easier to get the bot back

6 seasons in and people still stack on pushbot like its payload to "make it go faster" also. OW players make me lose braincells.

People are focusing on the points waaay too much. Don't risk your life unless it's to force overtime, especially if your character doesn't have mobility. Always prioritize winning the next fight over contesting.

I have played this gamemode a few times and I have never seen a 3-1 or 3-2 game its always 3-0. I think the points should be a little slower. Mabey add 10 or 15 seconds.
The time between points unlocking also needs to increase, if you lose during ot chances are enemy will start next point too
Please do this for all points!
Or just never touch point and take fights 100m from point with the tank 💀

Winston is really good on both maps and counters Illari.
Its seems we have reached a similiar conclusion which is good, it took me 3 plays to figure out how everything went, tank was the biggest headache as i am more aware of where my teammates at so it gave me a headache just trying to read on what everyone was doing, support it became clear on how easily it is to l.o.s my team and dps it became aparent on so many flanks/highround and cover there is, in my conclusion is that to be the most effective, is by sticking together and securing one area at a time , whether it was a dive,poke,brawl comp it didn't really matter as it seemed to benefit all 3 comps, its just you are lien to follow where the team is at and play around it and any type of staggering is more punished, so dying is really punsihed compared to other maps.
Pushing slowly will win you more of a fight and you only get 2 team fights anyway so dying in first can be heavily punished and give you massive disadvantage, if you are defending point you are more at a disadvantage then compared to attacking the point, there are so many chokes and entries and once the everybody figures out the options it will become apparent, if you aren't regrouping and waiting for a re-engage, you are 9 out of 10 times going to loose.

Good hero comps for Flashpoint:
Lifeweaver + Lucio: Lucio can speedboost to garuntee a faster tank push onto mid, after that it's a mad scramble where Lucio can dance around the center to contest for a while. Lifeweaver does decent healing now, can make high ground, and if someone falls back he can life grip them back into Lucio's range.
Bastion + Mercy: Bastion's survivability is already crazy, mercy's damage boost is more useful with his auto-heal now.
Pharah + Junkrat: Splash onto low targets or tight points. Extremely proficient on the dipped point on suravasa and the boxed in point on New Junk City.
Zarya + Illari: While Illari isn't great for Flashpoint, landing a Falling Star combo (Grav Surge + Captive Sun) with a charged zarya to proc it all at once is bone breakingly powerful.

I tested the maps and they are just unbalanced, in New Junk City there is a spawn 120 m away from point while the other is just at 80m. Test ut yourselves but thats why in refinery if you are at the right (seeing it from the point) battles will be on the chokepoint with the ball in the center, and if you are at the left battles will be in main.
I hope this mode never comes to Comp although, I know it unfortunately will...
I have played 3 ocasions and 3 times our advantage goes turnover hard because of a Junkerqueen/Doomfist/Ball

this mode would be great if more than one point would be active at a time, causing teams to make decisions on how many and who to send to a point etc. to clarify i dont mean all points at once, but first point opens, then maybe as that point is reacing 75% ish on capture (cumulative) the next one appears and it is timed in a way that it unlocks at soon as the first point would be finishing cap. then point 1 closes and point 2 is open but there is time between where teams must decide if they send people ahead to be at the next point as it opens or play it safe on point 1 and finish cap before going over, potentially getting there late
This is a really interesting concept, I wonder if it's possible to make a mode like this in workshop to see how it plays

A good widow and torb will mop this mode. Lock down areas and you will run this game.
Torb is severely weaker in any place with routes that give corners to peek the turret from. He's best at playing a crossfire on choke heavy, mid to long range angles. Imo.
Is it just me or does anyone else’s team members just go full retard and not even bother capturing the point? My team members just refuse to go to the point and will just fight near it or just be way off somewhere chasing a genji or tracer.
i like the guide but i don't like the gamemode. i would even take 2cp over it.

it's because it's only available in open queue right now, all tanks have reduced health in all open queue modes to reduce tank spam

My first impressions if this mode have not been good. For starters "big maps" does not automatically make the map good. It just means we have the push problem of running around a lot. It also means that hero's with no mobility are at an extreme disadvantage. I dont think that was considered in the creation of these maps. Its such a long walk that theres a good chance that when you return to your team, they'll already have been wiped out.
Stone walling is a serious problem in the mode 2. I played 5 matches on the mode and all of them have been the same. Enemy takes the point, we cant kick them off. We take the point, they couldn't kick us off. Whoever took the point first was basically going to win it. Then theres the mentioned size problem where if you do lose the team fight and wait for the rest of your team to group up the point is already at 40% meaning you have 2 attempts at best to even attempt to take it.
Also the mode is an absolute slog. We were in a game for nearly 20 minutes thanks to the fact its best 3 out of 5. Needless to say they were awful experiences.
The maps are only big because they have 5 points on them, you don't ever spawn any further than you do on other points so getting to where the point is is never really an issue.
bro i once died right before they caped and spawned in old spawn but the point was somewhere else and they made me walk actuall 220 m on ana its literally how long the pushmaps are from spawn to spawn when you follow the arrows this mode is horrible on low mobility heros

This game mode should not be in competitive. Teams will give up after first lost point, if not after 1st team fight lost. It looks also pretty "snowbally". I think it is actually worst then 2cp. This belongs in cod not overwatch competitive lol.

It's basically 5 CP if it's close. 3CP is you steamroll. JUST BRING BACK 2CP at this point.
