  • 3GPP Release 14 introduced Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS). CUPS brings many advantages. It's been implemented in 4G (LTE Advanced Pro) and 5G. To enable CUPS, 3GPP also defined a new protocol named Packet Forwarding Control Protocol (PFCP).
This talk will explain the motivation for CUPS. We will look at how the core network architecture changes due to CUPS. Then we will go into the details of PFCP including some tips for developers.
This talk is highly domain specific. It's meant for telecom professionals or students interested in telecom protocols and networking.
