Can you handle this? Ha! It's a joke. There was no gas and I had to do the most brazing intensive project of my life and there was no gas.
I think if I was doing this again I'd use heavy wall (like 1/4" thick) square pipe for the block on top. I didn't do that originally cause I was worried about the round corners of such pipe. However, in retrospect I think it would have been much faster to fill those corners in with weld or something, cause heating that solid block was a nightmare.

"This might be a disaster"
*drill go brrrrrr
"IT'S A DISASTER, AAAARGH"
That had be busting out laughing when he said that 🤣
I laughed too hard at this. Glad he didn't get injured...yet
Considering how many times he says "This might be a disaster" I am surprised how few actually are.
@@Tirandus in the trades it seems that acknowledging the risk is just about the epitome of safety practice.

Honestly the only youtuber I can watch for over an hour, many thanks for your hours of content through the years, I hope you get a netflix show
Can you imagine them trying to insure him? This guy gives saftey guys nightmares lol
"Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Daad, Daaaaad, Daaaaaaaaad"
I was waiting for the WHAAAAT!
DAMMIT NOVA!
omg seriously haha
I'm working! :D
Laaaaaaaaana!
Before i saw the comments i was gonna post about the same thing and sure enough the top comment is a winner. GG
Just realized it's been 7 years since I started watching Michael. Nova has grown up so much!
Recovering that clamp made me incredibly happy.
For years, YEARS, I have been worried about this man's back and I am so unbelievably happy to see him using a pully system to save himself from more injury!! PLEASE keep using those!
Couldn't agree more. Though the moment was kinda ruined by him sticking his foot directly under the hanging heavy machinery right afterwards.

The amount of finesse he has, while working with such bulky and unwieldy tools, is utterly insane.
53:06 legend has it she is still yelling dad to this day
Dad! DAD! DAAAAAAAD! DAD!
Atop a tree somewhere
Every coupple of months i have found myself going back and rewatching all of his videos
The level of your ingenuity while using tools and half tools to do things 99% of people cant do with top of the line equipment is amazing. If you had a full shop of top end equipment you could be one of the best armorers in the States easy. Incredible
This is such an amazing build. I thoroughly enjoy every minute.
Hi
When are you gonna send him the giant to scale Blades of chaos?

I think I figured out why we all like these videos so much. It’s because on a platform full of craftsmen with the best tools and most practical methods, it’s just more interesting to see a guy that works harder, not smarter.
"I AM IN A TREE, YES!"
Yeah, they're related >_
gotta say the apple or perhaps the girl doesn't fall far from the tree
I relate so much to Michael saying "this might be a disaster" and confirming the disaster literally a second later.
Love you and your family Michael. Truly a pleasure to be a part of it. Cheers , friend.
Michaels mind and thought process on the way things are done always amazes me. Like fixing the clamp. It was cool to watch it go from completely unusable to useable even if it's not shiny. Awesome work Michael.
there is something amazing and pure in these videos. I feel like at any moment something either stunningly incredible or incredibly stunning is going to happen in spectacular fashion...and Mike's vocabulary and word choice is off the chain.
The way Mike creates such intricate metalwork with minimal tools makes everyone want to be Irish!
"This might be a disaster..."
*A few moments laterh*
"DISASTER! AAAHH!"
LOL just finished watching Odd Life Crafting use a block and tackle to remove they're old boat motor out and here you are saving your back do the same thing :D, I have had a back injury for a number of years spinal decompression at a physiotherapy help so much, I went to a sports therapist, and it changed my life.
The saying goes “If you don’t have the right tools, Improvise” 😊... But seriously, you need to get yourself a Lathe fella, your Pillar Drill will be forever grateful 😂
"What day is it- What month is it- I've lost track"
Good god man lol
Great build so far Mike 👍👍
The reason why you're having such issue with pin hole is bc your parts aren't Clean enough. Any kind of Oils from your hands or gloves is going to cause porosity in the finished product!
The only way to prevent it is to thoroughly clean the part as well as the brazing or filler rods with acetone. Otherwise you're just going to keep chasing pin holes.
Another thing that would help is getting yourself some new gloves that you only use for brazing/tig work, that way you don't have to worry about contaminating the rods while feeding. Also a large propane torch works great for preheating parts.
Such great work, really enjoying this build
Michaelcuthulhu... the Macgyver engineer artist grinder God. Your videos are always awesome to watch. Thank you!
You say you're not a blacksmith, but what you did around 25:20 was pretty decent blacksmithing.
So, y'know, don't sell yourself short. 👍
You sir are the Bob Ross of Steel. Certified Legend.
INSANE amount of commitment with the TIG/blazing brass.
As much as I enjoy watching Mike put together & use his Poverty Nightmare Lathe; how much is a lathe, & is it feasible to fundraise for one?
Even a small and possibly not working correctly lathe cost about as much as new car, which doesn't even factor in the logistical nightmare of getting a very heavy and somewhat delicate piece of machinery to an island. But, it would be great to do somehow.
For the smaller pieces a cheap mini lathe could work. Note I said could.
I'm pretty sure he said he didn't have room for a lathe
Always super strong and built to last. What a joy to see.
Mick , you are truly the smith to the Gods .
Happy Embolg from Eire .
I'm really enjoying watching you build. You are like a mad scientist, I hope to be as good as you one day!! Thanx for all the sharing!
Love it you are the opposite to health and safety sideways drill thumb guided grinder the list is endless and yet no problems just awesome work
That's a quality improvised forge.
Edit: 56:26 - That's exactly how I was as a kid and I've never seen it from the outside like this... That is hilarious¡! 🤣🤣🤣
I love watching him build stuff, even when it's a small charity build.... He's one of the most entertaining people on RUclips and I love him and will watch every single video he makes. LoL
I've worked with metal so I know the difficulty of what your doing and you are an artist
Every time I'm more and more impressed at the lengths mike will go in order to not have to get a lathe.
Ur work is amazing, and all done with hand tools no lathes no c&c fair play bud every video i learn somthing new thanks man 💙👍
Who'd of thought your spirit animal is a psychotic dwarf giant slayer lol
Pretty sure he ranked up to daemonslayer by the end there. Though I think he’s going for godslayer now…
@@randombloke82 I'm clearly not up to date on my lore lol
@@randombloke82 if i remeber right when they finished the books out Gotrek takes Grimnirs place killing demons in a in between realm with both the axes Grimnir forged when he made this axe. Felix blacks out in a pile of rubble leaving a note about the epic doom.
Always a good day when there is a Mike video to watch!!
Love this axe, mike one of my favorite old school characters of g.w lore from my childhood.Amazing attention to detail
My god the noise from my headphones when you're doing the weld inside the tube around 48 minutes holy moly the pain.
I get so excited when I see you videos pop up in my subscriptions.
Remember everyone, Gotrek is strong enough to wield this sucker one handed.
Above his head, quite amazing.
Didn't Grimnir also give him the second one by the end of the series? But by then I'm sure Gotrek was nearly as strong as a god anyway so it wouldn't have been much of an issue for him to dual wield those axes.
@@NightmareBlade10 Not sure. I haven't read all of them yet.
Really appreciate getting 0 info on this youtube. No, seriously I love the hype beast shit you push but the stuff I hit the bell for and actually subscribe to just flies under from time to time.
Really enjoyed this part 2! Thank you for being so awesome!
1.1 million subs and only 556 comments. You all should comment more often. It really helps the channel out. Even if you just say...."cool neck massager axe" Right on brother and keep it up. I've only recently re-found your channel. RUclips has turned into algorithm crapfest! So you were gone from my viewing pleasure until now.
Michealcthulu, master of the angle grinder!
I mean, I'm pretty handy with the ol' grinder but you sir, have it down to a fine art form!

"Can it go this way?"
*moves the way he wants it*
"Ye"
Diameter × 3.14....
Enjoying this build. Awesome job.
Could we all come together and buy Mike a metal working lathe? Seeing him lift the drill press worries me
You are just brilliant!. I know it's poggered your back, but thank you for this one, viking axes, my favourite 💪🙏✌️
The cats play a pivotal role in the unfolding of this welding drama.
Love watch'n yr builds man, You my friend are one of a kind 🤘
Man at arms made the pale spear and mike making gotreks axe. Wonderful times for warhammer fans
"i need to go find which tree they are in"
*From distance*
"i am in a tree! yes!"
Mike tip for you , when sanding bar or tube , turn a sanding belt inside out and run it with a rubber wheel on a drill m8 a viola power tube sander !
Come on Michael, you know Nova is too old to fall for that "angle welder" gag.
On the other hand, I have to get me one of those.
Always love watching you make badassery
YAY PART 2 IS HERE!!!!! Damn the RUclips algorithm!!!!
I'm happy I'm not the only guy who still always jumps when the forge ignites.
JUST finished part 1. Bless you!
“This might be a disaster..ITS A DISASTER!!!”
I see crazy blades..... everywhere 😱
YAY! Part TWO! I wish i could like this Harder.
40:48 - When the NPC you saved on a side quest shows up on the main story arc.
Haha 53:00 "Dad.. Dad.. Dad! Dad! DAAAD!" While he's busy in a limited time frame needing to focus.
Those drilled domes at 8:00 look like they'd be fun to see sent over to Taofledermaus if they were 12 gauge sized.
05:09 Ants swarm and drag spiders into their nest for food, even big spiders. This little guy's "hello, fellow ants" act is very clever.
Hope your doing alright with the leg! Feeling your pain man on the new year I put an angle grinder through my calf but managed to get zipped back together luckly should be able to walk again after another month so happy days!! Also loving the build mate!
This guy has the best angle grinder skills in the world...
Am I the only one who wants to see Chris form Clickspring commenting on Mike's lathe techniques?
Up till now yes, now I do also
Michael kind of looks like Andre the blacksmith from the Dark Souls series
I hope you didn't notice that just now... But yes and that's why alot of ppl love him
Don't want to see m'work squandered...
Holy shit he does
That's just his day job to pay the bills...
Maybe ask hand tool rescue!
Think you might get lucky and have him fix that clamp up for ya! A little collab between you guys would be interesting.
EDIT: Nevermind. Evidently I should watch the whole video before commenting lol.
Love all your work Mike. Keep being you, you magnificent man=)
Nova is a legend.
Man I was almost sad that you found the broken grinder spindle. I wanted to see someone welding on a grinder. Maybe plug it in for extra spice. Maybe switch it on!
Goddamn michael, do I love your no frills fab!
awesome work! would love to see a Fume Knight Ultra Greatsword someday
man my favorite part is you whole astetic, like the gear you use (mask, ear pro, breather, backfan). but the tooling too, your lathe is beyond exelence, and you were even using the clamp you jsut cleaned up around 34 minutes in..
Loving the build. I think a cheap lathe is on the way
Michael you NEVER give any background information about the weapons and the fantasy characters that wield them or explore the lore and fiction surrounding them. Thanks for that, because it would bore me shitless.
Actual footage of a dwarf beneath a mountain forging weaponry of the gods
man your getting amazing love the tiny guy you built for the thumbnail
We all thought? Cool...Mike is showing us another use for a horizontal drill press.
So, idea. Cut the power cord to your drill press and splice in a foot pedal (saw someone do this with their dremel setup) so that your hands are free but you still maintain control over the machine.
this series of videos is the canon way a rune smith makes a rune axe
You have a TIG now. 2 words would be Tig Brazing!
The price of that folly is going to be you loosing a finger when you slip and one of those chuck jaws hits your knuckle. It's gonna explode like a grape.
In the quality lab when we need super clean cuts for taking cross-sectional measurements, we use an abrasive saw and a magnet to pull the work away from the blade once the cut is complete. Just a thought.
I've been waiting all week for this.
SNATCHBLOCKS ARE AWESOME - Thanks Destin! :D
I hate algorithms . I just want to binge whatch damn you
Weird watching this in January in Canada and seeing you outside with your shirt off.
This is really brilliant work 👏 amazing to watch . So cool
Legends say he lost his leg in battle many ages ago.. we still sing about him around the camp fire, from time to time.
Wow, What a monster project!
So educational... I didn't know spiders that mimicked ants existed. Turns out they do it to avoid the attention of ants, which are very lethal to many spiders
"Giant, monster gorilla hands" is basically the truth. Gotrek is said to be the wisth of at least two mortal men, if not more. And, though he is shorter than Felix, his rememberer, he is far, FAR heavier. To put it in perspective, he has a massive mohawk, described to be at least a foot in height itself, but even adding that to his height, he still only reaches the cheat of Felix. And Felix, though a tall man, probably isnt more than 6'2, 6'3. So imagine a being that is between 4'8 and 5', but weighs several hundred pounds of muscle.
He's done so much for so long with so little he's now qualified to do anything with nothing....
Very interesting video your builds turn out so awesome
