This is cool and all but people at home need to know this: If you happen to find a baby dumpster out in the wild DO NOT pick it up and take it home with you! Even if you don't see the mommy dumpster around she probably just left it there while shes out hunting for trash. Handling the baby dumpsters gets your human scent all over them and it makes it likely that their mothers will reject them if you try to re-introduce it back into the wild. So if you do rescue a feral baby dumpster its on you to take care of it, and boy those things grow fast and they grow big so make sure you have the necessary space. And while adult dumpsters will literally eat any trash you give them, the babies need to have their trash pre-processed. I recommend small bits of lint, paper sheddings and old pen caps to start.
And don't even get me started on imprinting...Baby dumpsters have to have adult dumpsters to imprint on, or else they grow up thinking they're humans and not dumpsters. You have to get this great huge dumpster puppet and rig it with a regurgitation mechanism to feed them and show them how to be dumpsters. Then they have to grow up in a natural street corner environment...Better just to leave them alone.
... yeah, I made that mistake. Endless nights with a whining dumpster scratching at my recycling bin. Up all hours teaching it to chug trash. Now I’m ratting the neighbourhood bins just the feed it. Please send help.

You guys, it has already been debunked and proven that mother trash cans will NOT reject their baby bin because of human sent. Their diet consists of human garbage and come in contact daily with them so they already have the humans sent 24-7 and will gladly take the baby back as soon as no human is present. Some idiots can't help themselves but to pick up a baby trash can and because of people like you spreading this false info, they take the baby home and the mother bin is never given the chance to come back. Now we have a dwindling population of trash cans as now some are too scared to even approach a brooding mama and will throw their trash into the water ways instead which has caused the trash cans to starve and now our oceans are polluted. All of this because of people repeating myths instead of doing real research. (I apologize for my long rant, and probably got too carried away. I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment.lol)

Really dig the Miniac shirt! I think the slightly too large scale won't be noticeable if you have Space Marines on your board as they tend to be pretty chunky.

Awesome! I'm a brit, and traditionally we don't have those types of bins (they started to be a lot more common 15 years ago ish) We have great big 2 metres odd round 'chimney' types. They're bloody huge metal tubes, and I'd imagine a pain to empty. Chucking a bin bag in them is pretty enjoyable though. So yours really doesn't look out of scale!
Possible tip for a version 2.0 dumpster - For the square tubes on the side, take a large plastic straw and cut it to length and then crease it flat and then crease it 90 degrees from the first to form a hollow squarish tube. Alternatively if you don't have plastic straws on hand, fold construction paper around itself using 25mm long piece for a 5mm square tube and cut the length to match the depth of the dumpster. This would give the hollow tubes needed on the sides for a slightly more realistic effect.

Registration marks are so helpful and useful on a paper cutters. At one of my work places we have paper cutters with marked different colors of tape that are marked and is used as registration marks when we’re cutting. It’s super helpful especially when we have someone who doesn’t understand what we mean but we don’t laugh at the person. This is totally unnecessary and only if the person had time they can take different sizes of binder board and glue them together then to the dumpster or carefully take an x-acto precision cutter or X-Acto #15 Keyhole or some other products from x-acto to hollow out the wood. Do whatever you want as long as you’re happy with what you made then that’s what matters.
i think the best videos are when you're showing the finished bits and it's hard to contain how pumped you are about the results XD aside from this channel as a whole that feeling is why i picked up this hobby in the first place. It's brought those small bits of joy back into my life that can really turn any day around. Can't swing the Patreon just yet but i do owe you a big "thank you" boss, keep up the great work!
An easy way to catch sizing errors isn't just to use a mini for scale, but to imagine the mini actually using the object. In this case, imagine the trouble the mini would have lifting a cover that already rests at head height, then keeping the lid elevated as you lift a full bag of trash over its head. The finished dumpster model doesn't look bad next to the mini probably because proportions and scales are often exaggerated for various reasons when dealing with miniatures. Small details are exaggerated for visibility. Thinner objects like swords are rendered thicker for durability. Larger objects can look smaller when the various smaller components are made to look larger. Exterior-only buildings may be created a bit smaller than what you'd need to house the desired interior. Scatter terrain may be sized as much for visible cover versus clear line of sight than realism.
You would be right sir. The complex I live in they are 2x the size probably because they pay the trash removal company less so they need bigger dumpsters too as they don't empty them as often.
since you ask for another project for a post apocalyptic terrain, what about a wrecked ship, one that is too wrecked and covered in rust that is just a siluette from what it used to be. loved the dumsters btw.
Great work! Nice piece of scatter. For graffiti you could print some out like you did with the signs. Also I found a ton of black and white line drawings of graffiti that you could paint color on.
Modern terrain suggestions: Roll-away construction dumpster filled with debris, trash cans, pallets, paint buckets, water-filled crash barrels, a rental storage facility, piles of tires, hay rolls, a roach coach (food truck)
Just so you know, there are indeed dumpsters that big in real life, we have them in our apartment complex but they have sliding doors on the sides for access. Cool build.
Nice result esp. the weathering 🤣🤣 My first shipping container build suffered from similar scales issues. Good not to get too hung up on stuff like that - craft on I say! And, I’m all for mixing metric and imperial - just sayin 👍👍👍

This along with some LED flames would have made a great New Year's Eve project a few months ago.
Mmmm saw that but the tiny dumpsters are precious
Simple, cheap & effective, love it !
Gonna be making some of these for Crisis Protocol. Great video!
Awesome work!! I'd like to see more modern terrain as that's what I'm working on right now. Making stuff for Fallout wasteland warfare. More specifically beds, couches and appliances would be awesome. Stuff that people arent allready doing on RUclips. Just want to mention, it's great seeing a fellow Canadian creating such great things. Greetings from Edmonton!
Making them slightly oversized actually works better in game terms imho because it will block line of sight/line of fire better.
Can't swing the Patreon just yet but i do owe you a big "thank you" boss, keep up the great work!
jeremy you could use the cotton swabs for the styrene after the rust for a diffrent project
My Q-tips are basically paper rods so for this build they might still work, but certainly won't be as robust as styrene.
Put my dumpsters next to space marines.....
That is pretty cool. Love your vids man.
Modern terrain suggestions: Roll-away construction dumpster filled with debris, trash cans, pallets, paint buckets, water-filled crash barrels, a rental storage facility, piles of tires, hay rolls, a roach coach (food truck)
Piles of tires is such a simple idea that I never see come up! Combining that with led fire would be pretty great.
Ooooh, definitely liked this. Surprised you didn't mention Infinity, as scatter terrain is practically king in that game ^_^
