    Hey! Thanks for watching!
Let me know if you have any questions about seasonal jobs, full time work, ect. There are so many ways to work and still be nomadic!

Hi Sebastian! New subscriber here! I saw the VW and was instantly a fan! I LOVE VWs and have owned 3 bugs and dream of owning a Westfalia campervan one day. I'm currently living in our cabin in the Yukon, so I understand the cold, lol! One of the bonuses of driving your house to work is having lunch 'at home'! Love it! I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos!-Sue

@@HoneyandMe Hi Sue! Welcome to the community! I’ve come so close multiple times to owning a bug but could never pull the trigger. One day though!
I bet it’s beautiful up there! I know I enjoyed my time driving through the Yukon. I’m hoping to make another trek up there and the NT eventually.
I get a significant discount for lunch at the airport but I still prefer to go cook my meals in the parkinglot. And that way I know I’m getting a good cup of coffee too!

I live in Europe and in culinary school while working full time so I want to live in a van save up and then hopefully do some seasonal cooking work in awesome places. Perhaps Scandinavia in the winter and Spain the summer!

The jobs on the north slope of the Brooks Range in Alaska (oilfield work) are two weeks on and two weeks off. All the food, housing, housekeeping, and recreation are paid while up there. Some of the guys don't even live in Alaska on their 2 weeks off - Thailand, Philippines, Latin America, etc.

@@Sebastianstonum One of our sons is in the Process Technology program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. It's a 2 year program. If you do an internship with one of the oil companies as a part of that program then you are guaranteed a job.
They average $85k the first year. Five years later they average $135k.
We met the recruiter for Hilcorp last week at the internship meeting. In his presentation he explained that every five years there is a $100,000 bonus to every employee if the company makes its production goal. They have always made it.
The other avenue for young guys is one of the union apprenticeship programs. Local 301 is the operator's union and plumber pipefitters are in local 375.

@Sebastianstonum My take is that home ownership was turned into bank robbery under President Carter and President Reagan. It's not about affordable housing or good value housing. It's about taking all the money you can from a bank. I have done this for vehicles I want including my Ram Promaster.

Good look at your day to day working! mmm blackest coffee... only way to wake.
Nice an airport gig.. w good pay.
some ski resorts have good ones with housing, or RV hosting.
(4-10's always loved, best thing to a 3-day good PT job.)
    Good tips on the work!
...and the only meal for someone in that climate! when in Rome... :)
Your situation you can eat like a king... n libation? preferences?
Been to WY, CO, Montana, (Big mountain/ Glacier area.. n Big Sky) ... Mammoth, Tahoe,, Whistler, in UP, MN snowboarding. guessing if you are working at a resort or city snow removal? at first.... but yeah like any BIG Mountain resorts, Coastal cities sunny warmness.. for surfing.. F... expensive....
WY especially.. so any common workers, you are saving a S,,, load doing your thing, with the stipend. YEs and the commute from affordable? housing is silly.. ha
Had commented on your last video on the cool modest cost effective upgrades, the pop up camping edition offers half the work for the built ins! and smart with extra spares as I had on my 1990 vanagan.

    • @Sebastianstonum
      @Sebastianstonum  13 дней назад +1

I think working at a ski resort would be cool! And it would cover the season pass which is even cooler! Some local jobs offer ski passes too that could be an option.
The housing out in here is crazy! A lot of people live 1-2 hours away some further and they drive out here to work for a few days then drive home for the rest of the week.
I’m trying to save up for future trips!

My buddy in Duluth, MN from college I boarded with since the late 1980's had taken off after graduation, and always had deep frier/ cooking jobs. So he packed up his IZUZU trooper, (cool ride also back then..) I sold him my sweet late 80's trek 8700 bonded aluminum mtb bike (in 1993') with all Deore top components.. index shifters, n nice neck/ aero bars, seat. a, 2 finger light bike, when I upgraded to the first gen. fisher RS-1, full suspension, with first gen. rear disc break, and full Italian CAMPY components hubs!,
His ended up getting stolen when he got to Montana..... but Big Sky he had gotten a cooking seasonal job, and yeah free lift!! and housing bunk/ hostel style. Lifts then were 85/95 a day! That resort had to supply housing as per how isolated it was for the most part. so if not wanting to Dish wash! then a line cooker or fire job may be good! then free food may be an additional benny!
      :). Lift/ food/housing, cha ching!
      Cheers!
look forward to checking out your past, and future shows.
