Another interesting point I thought worth mentioning: The Kaldheim gods also don't have any kind of protection from removal such as indestructible or reshuffling when they die. I suspect this is partly for game balance reasons, but it's also a flavour win with Norse mythology in particular since those gods often went about the world and interacted with mortals, and they can die in the stories (and did, most obviously during Ragnarok).
Yeah! The gods of Norse Mythology had a great amount of mortality, which is why they were so great. Norse gods weren't like the greek gods, but more like fabled heroes with crazy abilities from their sacrifice. Odin cut out his eye so he could see the future and protect the realms better, Tyr lost his hand when chaining Fenrir, and even Mimir had his head cut off but Odin revived him as a head. It makes perfect sense that the gods in this expansion aren't indestructible, but they do have amazing abilities!
Yes, but I was also thinking how in the world of Kaldheim a lot of tribes, like the elves in the plane, dispise the modern gods and call them the usurpers. Maybe in the future we get to see the elf gods (I forgot their names in the lore) and they may have indestructible as they were the "original" gods and the modern gods couldn't actually kill them but just bind them like "Binding of the old gods".
There is some irony that the true God of Lies that was indisposed before the story even started and still is imprisoned in ice is arguably the currently safest god post-Kaldheim set, the whole "Koma fell into Karfell" thing aside.
@Mullerornis Right, but none of the gods probably do at this point given how doomed Esika was looking when the story ended. So he's basically still the safest compared to all the other gods even by metric save for Egon, who ages backwards anyway, and maybe Cosima, who is technically a Cosmos Monster. EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, in a fit of greater irony, by that metric Valki might even be safer than I thought given how harmless getting completely covered in ice tends to be in fiction and how flawlessly it preserves people without killing them unlike real life. So if anything, Valki probably still has to worry about aging less than everything except Egon as long as he's stuck in ice.
The next version of Valki should have a clone creature on one side, and a himself with a reanimate style ability you can play from the graveyard. "You thought I was dead? Oh no, you fool. You cannot kill the master of lies..."
To be fair, I wished the gods artifacts were separated cards. Since I play commander, sometimes I reaally wish I had both sides of the god on the table and that irks me a bit. That aside, I actually liked Jorn, he seems to be such a chill god to just spend a afternoon talking about nature.

We have to assume that before Esika's creation, the gods were not immortal. Alrund probably tried to commune with the World Tree early on, and has been enjoying the benefits of the elixir since.
@@MagicArcanum that's really interesting, thanks for the reply!
Aren't there also hints that the Elves were gods of kaldheim and the humans usurped that role? I wonder how that plays into it.
I'm working on the jorn deck I have high expectations
Let me know how it turns out!
I love story heim.
I finally have not-crappy-motel internet, it's story time!!
can you have reidane and her artifact form in a commander deck as long as they are flipped
Unfortunately you can only have one copy of the card anywhere in your deck of 100. If she's your Commander, you cannot have her again within the 99, even if you just wanted to play her artifact side.
Hey @Magic Arcanum, Ray it's God Time
I like your video, it's very cool, good job
And I like the north mythology 😎👍🏾 because you make a good job. I hope you doing good my friend? 😊👍🏾
but Ryan... what IS in that cup!
so u have not faced a deck using ruin crab & some ver that are mono blue focused on Land fall to mil u with crab & yes I know this was a thing B4 kaldheim but it is a popular blue Land fall deck type that could also run cosima
Can we get the story of Slivers in honor of them being reprinted into Time Spiral Remastered?
I already covered slivers on the TCGplayer channel so it might be a while before I get the chance to do them again here: ruclips.net/video/j9Gm7qZSZTg/видео.html
I'll tap 2 to equip 'Golden Mustache'
I have to say I like Egon, he's very cool.
Ryan should cosplay Alrund
mustache of the cosmos
So what exactly is in the cup?
I answer that in the AMA video :-)
Hey Ryan, what's your favorit God? 😊🙏
Out of the ones from Kaldheim? I think Reidane, because like I said in the video, nobody seems to read her card and my opponents make a lot of mistakes against her.
Cool thx 😁👍🏾
Jorn is dope, but power creep is so real.
oh how I wish Egon was a playable commander
@2:47
I'm sorry! The deck is dumb and fun and I can't help it! >
So toralf’s red flavor comes from being mad at his dad
Notice that both parents were blue but none of the kids were!
Sooooo... if I understand correctly, a god and a dolphin get three children, all of them being suspiciously human-like
Yep. And none of them are blue like their parents.
I'm sure i'm getting ahead but Lorehold right?
I mean the name alone pretty much demands my attention, so yeah lol
@@MagicArcanum indeed... When is saw the name of that house the first thing that came to my mind is i think Ryan is going to enjoy this 😮
Give us the history of the phyrexian
Birgi let's me storm, sooooooo Birgi
