It was the middle of the night, December 16th, 2008. It had been a week since my dad had died and my break up with a VA nurse I'd been dating...she'd felt my daughter's needs were always going to come first, and she was right. That's part of being a single parent.
So, as my daughter Zoe slept, I sat at my piano, in a very dark disjointed mental place, and in just a few minutes this song came out of nowhere. I think it was my subconscious trying to comfort me.
I love the vocals on this recording, and I couldn't imagine it being sung in any other way. Just beautiful.
