I was very impressed that one is able to make decluttered items look so aesthetically pleasing . I love your visual and artistic sense and admire your ruthlessness with "stuff".
Decluttering videos never age! Yours was one of the best I have seen...not only calming to watch, but the way you did it by categories...I was inspired to check through some categories that I forget about ...like sewing 2 sewing boxes, and to check again my pen & tape supplies and other related office items.
my niece and i (she lives in germany, i live in austria) are on day 28 of „the minimalist game“. i‘d started it on february 1 and just off-handedly mentioned it to her after i‘d been doing it for a couple of days. she decided to join and we keep encouraging each other and even got our husbands to contribute. whenever we were in danger of flagging a bit, we came back to this video and got a second/third/fourth… wind to keep going. i know i am only joining the league of people who‘ve already told you that, but i can‘t help myself: benita, you make such a difference in our lives! you never preach, just lead my example. the calmness and aesthetic of your videos are both so soothing and yet really get me going to change things for the better in my home. appearances by mini and bonus never fail to make me smile. so, inspired by you my niece (a mom of 2) and i („addicted“ to all things decorative) managed to declutter 400+ each. most of it will go to various recycling places or be donated. this was such a great challenge and one i‘ll try and repeat in the not too distant time. THANK YOU, BENITA! all the best to you and the furry ones - monica
I started my Minimalism challange opposite way - First day 30 items. I thought it would be easier to find one item to decluter last day than 30 items ;) and OMG I was right the last few days were very hard.
It’s insane the amount of extra stuff we accumulate. It really makes you reconsider what you buy in the first place (and what freebies and gifts you accept). Thanks for another visually pleasing and inspiring video Benita 😊
The dental moulds! 🤣 I’m so with you! I cleaned out my closet over the weekend and am embarrassed at the stuff I keep. I had the shoes from my sisters wedding (20 years ago). 🤦🏼♀️ What perfect timing for this video. I’m going to start the 30 day challenge! Wonderful video Benita!!!❤️
I'm a minimalist too and thought, I wouldn't have enough things to get rid of to play the game. You gave me some great ideas so I'm going to try it. Wish me luck! Love your videos.
I feel ya!! I live in a tiny house and I’m constantly decluttering. Over the past few months I’ve taken two car loads to the charity shops and it keeps coming! It’s an addiction lol!
The past weeks, I have been decluttering, it feels good to see those half empty closets. After this video, I see I have still have to do some more, I have problems with my books. I also have the help from my cats. Thanks for the tips!
Love this video. My son is buying his first home shortly so I will be declutttering and minimalising in his favour. He thinks I'm being a good kind mama but little does he know I just want rid of my extra crap 😂😂
Decluttering also makes me happy. We have downsized 3 times over the past 15 years...the last time I was the most ruthless with letting go of items....donated, sold, recycled....and still was appalled at how much I had to unpack. Needless to say....the decluttering is still on-going. This video has inspired me to keep going. Thank you.
It IS an ongoing thing! I still have my son’s stuff in the basement and if he gets a place with a better storage space I’m excited to see what I actually still own.
You were my favorite blogger and now you’re my favorite vlogger! I love the MinsGame and have done it several times over the last couple of years - just when I think I don’t have enough to do another round, my adult son challenges me to do it with him while he does his house. I love a challenge! Thanks for another great video!
Oh the pens made me chuckle. I too have a habit (or obsession or sickness or….) of collecting pens. I’ve got so many it’s ridiculous. They reside on my desk in repurposed 28oz food tins that I’ve covered in colourful paper that accents my office decor. I really should declutter them - you’ve given me the nudge to get it done! I did take a boxful of glasses and cookbooks to the thrift shop yesterday. Spring has sprung let the decluttering begin. Thanks Benita!
Never in a million years I would of thought you could have all those things to declutter!!! 😱😱😱 Your house and lifestyle is so simple. So well done! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 💚💚💚💚
Great job Benita, you make decluttering and letting go look easy! I belong to a FB group, 365 Days of Decluttering Crap. The group is really about baby steps, just declutter and post 1 item a day. Of course i do more than that, but it certainly motivates me to keep going. Loved your artwork and I'm glad your son will have some use for it!
I have played this minimalism game a couple times over the last few years. I always think I’m not going to meet my daily quota, but then surprise myself at what I find. It’s a very satisfying process!
Swiss Minimalist (40+) for then years now, looking for new and experienced inspiration: Glad I found your channel! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas. 🤗
Thanks for your beautiful and inspiring content! I have done the 30-Day Minimalism Game several times and this past month I did it again. Love it! My house and spirit always seem to say "Thank you"! I am thinking of a new game/challenge for myself- "How Low Can I Go"? I am especially going to focus on my wardrobe and developing a very small capsule wardrobe. I also am intrigued by the idea of owning only one thing of most items in my home. Let the games begin!
I just finished the 30 day minimalist game! I cannot believe that I got rid of 465+ items. It was so easy to do. I know I’m going to start it again because there’s still lots of stuff in my house! For years all I did was put stuff aside and say “I will get to it eventually”, and I never did so it piled up. But finally I am getting it done! Thank you so much for introducing this game. I have never played a game that lasted 30 days, but it was fun.😀
Brilliant! I watched this before, and today am ready for a minimalism reboot. Game on! My favorite day was 24: pen hoarding. Thanks for the laugh, and now to sort through my pens, markers, etc.!
I’ve played this game last year and it felt great to get rid of so much stuff! I declutter every once in a while now and make videos on my channel too 😌 great job!
Love this video! My first thought was no way could I find 465 items to declutter, but after watching this I believe I could. There is so much stuff we hang on to that we don't use or need. Definitely taking up this challenge as I look forward to having less and less.
What fun. I just practiced this for 30 days, this September. It started out easy, but the last couple of days were hard. For September 30, like you I added 30 buttons from my button box. 465 things, heaven.
since living in a small studio apartment with no closet space (well, there are 2 things you could wagely consider closets ...) I was forced to get rid of a lot of stuff (yes, I was a hoarder and a keeper of stuff "just in case" and "in 7 years time it will come handy"). So watching your video I was going, mentally, through my apartment and thinking what else could I declutter. Then I realized - all my freshly decluttered stuff is cluttering the basement storage ... so ... yes, that I will tackle in spring :D Thank you for your calming and inspiring video :)
Great video and a great idea. I should try it. I used to listen to The Minimalist podcast, but stopped. Maybe I should pick it up again. Thanks for sharing.! 💖
wow, that was impressive. I couldn't imagine what you would be de-cluttering by day 30, but you did a great job. I really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing.
I grew up so poor and with so little and I also had to share what little I had with 3 younger sisters that it’s an impossibility for myself to become a minimalist. I hold every possession to be so near and dear that I can’t bear the thought of getting rid of anything.
This is a fantastic idea that will help me be organised and systematic about decluttering. I can’t wait to do this. Less clutter = calm mind. Thank you for sharing. ☺️
The Georg Jensen elephant bottle opener is so fun. It would take me so long to declutter that! Exactly why I need to watch all of your videos on repeat! Great job!
It feels very spring like over here already. Don’t mind a mild “winter” but at the same time it feels very strange not to wear socks at this time of year!
Lol about first aid kit 😅 Buttons are so surprisingly expensive! I've had to give a call to all the grandmas to get her me some button collection when my sons were toddlers, they've spent such a lovely time sorting through the buttons and sewing them to random stuff 😅
Started big this month. We decluttered 2 e-bikes, a fancy car bike rack, and some bike-specific wrenches. We opted not to sell all that, so delivered to our local bike collective today and got a “good karma” comment. They will sell and use the proceeds to fund their programs of free bikes for children.
I loved this video, You make it seem so simple. I am keeping things of sentimental value, my mother passed away 4 years ago and all her things are in my basement. Clothes, bins of crochet,I just can’t part with it… need your advice. please. I love all your videos since I found you. Am so so sorry to know you weren’t well. I hope and pray you are doing much better now, what an amazing strong Woman you are …. Please take care of yourself… once again you are a breath if fresh air and beautiful soul….
I am enjoying the decluttering videos. It is nice to hear your voice - I really enjoyed your blog when you were doing that so I am pleased to see your channel here. Hello from 🇨🇦 Cheers, Alana
I was so surprised that you managed to declutter so many items, made me rethink my possession. I have some things that can definitely go. Our microwave died on Thursday morning and before picking up the new one on Friday I got rid of the old one. I don't always do this and then I get upset with myself 😠 for having junk in the house 🤦🤦🤦. You make it seem so easy and beautiful to declutter, it really motivates people 👍😊
I know that 'feel' you get when you have decluttered, it feels like you are much lighter and cleaner. I consider myself a minimalist, but not sure if I could do this challenge. I may try 1 thing for 30 days and see how I go. Thanks again Benita, really enjoyed this.
I am on day 13 and love the how there are more things to declutter than we think !! Every day, I post the items to make my friends on FB. At the end I will share this video to them !!
Your decluttered items are beautiful - I’ve done this challenge multiple times and the last time I did post it on Instagram but as more items were added each day it got more chaotic looking. I was thinking about doing it again and your video is inspiring me to maybe do it in video format.
This was fun to watch Benita. I have done this challenge twice. Loved the button decluttering day. I am a minimalist and ever so happy. Switzerland has good recycling ways but it seems that Sweden is really orgainised with recycling. Loved the way your cute cat was walking around and kind of checking on things. Cats do not like changes or any upheaval. Kind greetings.
@@BenitaLarsson Cats love their lives not to be disrupted in any way. Love their names - Mimi and Bonus. Guess they surely understand Swedish. I had 2. One that came from South Africa adapted to English and Swiss German. Whereas the Swiss Ragdoll cat only understood Swiss German and was rather complicated. All the best.
I think I first heard of the Minimalism Game about two years ago and thought back then that I would never be able to find enough things to get rid of. Since then I have probably let go of 5 times as much. 😂 Loved your blog, love your channel.
The thumbnail was basically it but a lot of small things went into bags so you can’t really see them individually. I would not have loved them ALL out 😂
I had a good laugh at your first aid kit. 2004. My oh my. Nobody needed to be saved in that time. I got a thing with buttons though. Like a little treasure. Love that challenge.
Cool video. But I think the key is not what to throw away, but how to responsibly consume. Otherwise decluttering will just cause more waste and more pollution.
You created a real art piece with your minimalist game :-* It is very pleasuring to watch! Great work! You did a very good job! Thank you!!!!! Sending love to Stockholm from the South of Germany :-*
I am doing the minimalist game right now. During March. But making a video? I am better infront of the camera than actually shooting and cutting videos... Not like you! :-D
We did this too! We moved from an 1800 square foot house to an 800 sq. Ft. Apartment to a 325 sq ft travel trailer! Lots of downsizing! We still had enough to make it to day 28!
I also have put things aside for my son. He’s not quite at the age where’s he able to move out on his own yet but I have decluttered so much of my kitchen items that are in great condition that they will be of great use to him. Also my husband often gets given Christmas gifts through work associates, for example sets of glasses, steak knives, etc. so I’ve set these aside for him as well. We have the space to store these items and it will save him money down the road.
Came to realize that we need to continually declutter and downsize and organize🙈 It is a process and enjoying your 30 day challenge and considering doing this for March, as Feb is short month and I have been doing big decluttering projects as Kitchen and bathrooms was Jan. Feb is my large hall closet and books, so will put March in as a 30 days challenge; Thanks 😊
It is an ingoing process. Especially if you’re downsizing, you need some time to assess what you actually need and use. A year after my move I now pretty much know what I’ll want and need to keep. Have fun in March!
I didn’t think you’d have enough items to do a 30-day challenge! 😉 I think you’re more willing to acknowledge that tastes and needs change, so you’re able to let it go. ❤️
I feel like a lot of your decluttered “batches” would make such beautiful gift baskets 😬 Maybe that’s weird. But I would CERTAINLY love day 10’s kitchen decluttered items in a gift basket, among many of the other days. So much for me decluttering 😆
Oh Benita ...I bow to your cathedral of minimalism !!! 🙇♀️ 🙇♀️ what an amazing video . I think I am going to try this game ...I can only dream that my home ends up looking like yours but we can try . Wonderful video thank you
I really love your DITL | Routine | Scandinavia | Stockholm | video's. Would you please make a winter DITL maybe? Greatings and hug from the Netherlands !
I was planning to but winter is not happening here this year so there wouldn’t be much difference to the fall one. It’s only early February though so there might still be time!
I also did the minsgame challenge in January. I was glad I was at the end of the game. Not expected that I would have so much to let go but it was necessary because I move to a smaller appartement next month :-) So many recognizable items, such as the books, the sewing supplies and the buttons. I had never decluttered these last ones before ;-)
I was very impressed that one is able to make decluttered items look so aesthetically pleasing . I love your visual and artistic sense and admire your ruthlessness with "stuff".
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Who needs the ‘Calm’ app when they can watch one of your decluttering videos!
😘😘😘
So true!!! Benita makes her videos in a way that it calms one down. 💚💚
🤗
Jane Wallace less expensive option too! Calm is $$$
How you managed to make a 31 day decluttering video so engaging, I’ll never know. So visually appealing!
Thank you so much!😊
Decluttering videos never age! Ooh, I like that idea!
What a genius idea!
I'd rather do this that way if I ever do something like this
Great idea. On the first days you are motivated the most, so i think that way it‘s way more fun
Yes! I'll start tomorrow with 30 and ease my way down! When I did it the other way I loved it I was too hyped up from the mounting challenge.
It’s insane the amount of extra stuff we accumulate. It really makes you reconsider what you buy in the first place (and what freebies and gifts you accept). Thanks for another visually pleasing and inspiring video Benita 😊
Yeah, I turn so much down these days and keep a list on my phone of things I do need and only look for them when I shop.
Ooh, have fun! And yeah, day 3 was eeep!
Even your decluttering is aesthetically pleasing! 😍
😂 Haha, I aim for beauty!
I'm a minimalist too and thought, I wouldn't have enough things to get rid of to play the game. You gave me some great ideas so I'm going to try it. Wish me luck! Love your videos.
It’s when you dig into those places like boxes, kits etc that you tend to find things. They look like one item but really they are so many pieces.
#24 - “What’s up with the pen hoarding?” I laughed in recognition. 😆
Hahah same🤭😅
I feel ya!! I live in a tiny house and I’m constantly decluttering. Over the past few months I’ve taken two car loads to the charity shops and it keeps coming! It’s an addiction lol!
It does feel good 😊
The past weeks, I have been decluttering, it feels good to see those half empty closets. After this video, I see I have still have to do some more, I have problems with my books. I also have the help from my cats. Thanks for the tips!
Cats helping out is the best! :)
Love this video. My son is buying his first home shortly so I will be declutttering and minimalising in his favour. He thinks I'm being a good kind mama but little does he know I just want rid of my extra crap 😂😂
Very cleaver, haha!😂
One of My sons see it as clutter the other is a bit sad he has nowhere for it to go. I get so upset about having nowhere for it to go.
I can't tell you how much your videos have inspired me. Love your impeccable style greetings from Australia
Thank you so much!😊
A recycling bin in your building is a great idea.
That room is one if the best things about living in this building! I love it so much!
It's good that you have places to recycle too. I find that the hardest part here. As little recycling or sharing.
That was my problem living in houses with no car. This makes it so easy and convenient.
Thank you.

Aww, you’re so sweet! How fun to do it with your son!
I find your videos to be super calming and inspires me to be more aware of what I need and use. Another great video Benita😊
That makes me so happy to hear!

I love the idea of sharing items you don't use anymore with neighbors. I wish my complex did that!!
It’s such a good thing!
You gave me again more inspiration to declutter more!!!
Yay, have fun doing it!
I love your videos, Benita! I click instantly when I see you've uploaded a video♥️
Thank you for the inspiration :) Love from Northern Spain!
Thank you so much!
Wow, this is so neat and beautiful! I love how it's not only so linear with numbers but also a different category every day. Really inspiring work
I found it easier to dive into certain area on the different days! Thank you so much!
Great video and a great idea. I should try it. I used to listen to The Minimalist podcast, but stopped. Maybe I should pick it up again. Thanks for sharing.! 💖
Do try it, it's amazing what stuff we hold on to!
wow, that was impressive. I couldn't imagine what you would be de-cluttering by day 30, but you did a great job. I really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing.
I would never have thought there would be that much stuff you could get rid of. I'm just amazed.
I know! Crazy the amount that surfaces when you really dig deep!
I grew up so poor and with so little and I also had to share what little I had with 3 younger sisters that it’s an impossibility for myself to become a minimalist. I hold every possession to be so near and dear that I can’t bear the thought of getting rid of anything.

It feels very spring like over here already. Don’t mind a mild “winter” but at the same time it feels very strange not to wear socks at this time of year!
Benita Larsson I know! We have had 5 days of +20°C temps here! Our very first winter in Spain was very kind.
Thank you, Benita. Great video. I am not a minimalist yet but I will follow your example and declutter 465 items!
Have fun! 🙌🏻
Great video! Beautifully filmed & edited! Love the voiceover. 😍

Haha, he’s only interested in the frames to put his own art in😂
@@BenitaLarsson 😂why am I not your neighbor??? 😅Then I could inherit what's inside the frames!!!!

I love that you play me 😂

I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
I love you have a recycle room where others can have
FABULOUS!!! I am already done...I have nothing left...I miss decluttering 💚
I agree, decluttering gives the best feeling, makes you feel lighter

I did it!! I did my 30-days and posted every day on FB and many of my friends are inspired !! Sharing your video on FB to them now
Haha I like that. You must be ‘ruthless’ to un-clutter. Bravo
What an inspiring video, especially since I am decluttering for a move. Well done!
Thank you so much! Have fun moving!

do not like changes or any upheaval. Kind greetings.
Yeah, Mini and Bonus didn’t appreciate all the piles and bags everywhere’s 😂
@@BenitaLarsson Cats love their
lives not to be disrupted in any
way. Love their names - Mimi
and Bonus. Guess they surely
understand Swedish. I had 2.
One that came from South Africa
adapted to English and Swiss
German. Whereas the Swiss
Ragdoll cat only understood
Swiss German and was rather
complicated. All the best.
I think I first heard of the Minimalism Game about two years ago and thought back then that I would never be able to find enough things to get rid of. Since then I have probably let go of 5 times as much. 😂 Loved your blog, love your channel.
😂It’s amazing how much stuff one still has when one digs deep, isn’t it?
Great idea! Challenge! Start right now.
Yay, go for it!👊🏻
WOW, loved it Benita......keep them coming....very well done ..so happy that I have subscribed. Love from Canada xx
I would have liked to see the whole pile at the end! Very relaxing and beautiful to watch n
The thumbnail was basically it but a lot of small things went into bags so you can’t really see them individually. I would not have loved them ALL out 😂
Benita as a reader of your old blog I am shocked you could even do this challenge 😂😘
I had a good laugh at your first aid kit. 2004. My oh my. Nobody needed to be saved in that time. I got a thing with buttons though. Like a little treasure. Love that challenge.
Yeah, and also not much saving to do around my house. At least not with that kit :)
Cool video. But I think the key is not what to throw away, but how to responsibly consume. Otherwise decluttering will just cause more waste and more pollution.
Another fantastic video! ❤️ I love the postage stamp print!
Thank so much! Yeah the stamp is a good one!
Thank you so much! Have fun playing the game!
amazing and FUN to watch
I made this challange last november and Im ready to do it again next month. It fells so good have less.
Brilliant idea, love the video💕
So glad to hear that almost nothing went to the trash 🙂
It’s so great to have the system we have for recycling!
I truly felt the pen hoarding and buttons.
Yeah, what is up with all of those!!😬
I am here watching to declutter and yet the hoarder in me wished I lived next door so I could grab the silver cutlery and the art supplies .😜🤪🤓
😂👍🏻👍🏻
So well done! Wow, the things I found in my bathroom cabinet! But I made a list of all the herbs I need to buy anew and that's great! Thanks Benita! 😄
I’m so glad you liked it!
I love the white framed picture of the grey cross. Wish we were neighbours!
I’ve heard that a lot in the comments 😂
We did this too! We moved from an 1800 square foot house to an 800 sq. Ft. Apartment to a 325 sq ft travel trailer! Lots of downsizing! We still had enough to make it to day 28!
That’s so great! I’m excited to see how far I get next time!
I love your Minimalism lifestyle!!!!
That’s great! I did the same with gifted items when Wille was younger. He had a full set of white fluffy towels when he moved out on his own,
Came to realize that we need to continually declutter and downsize and organize🙈 It is a process and enjoying your 30 day challenge and considering doing this for March, as Feb is short month and I have been doing big decluttering projects as Kitchen and bathrooms was Jan. Feb is my large hall closet and books, so will put March in as a 30 days challenge; Thanks 😊
It is an ingoing process. Especially if you’re downsizing, you need some time to assess what you actually need and use. A year after my move I now pretty much know what I’ll want and need to keep. Have fun in March!
great video ..and your first aid kit lol you did make me laugh , cant wait for the next video
That was a bit embarrassing! Imagine if I'd actually need it at one point!
Wow, well done ! You showed how easy it can be. tfs 💗
When you really start looking you realize all the “hidden” stuff.
beautiful video composition!!!!!!
Oh Benita ...I bow to your cathedral of minimalism !!! 🙇♀️ 🙇♀️ what an amazing video . I think I am going to try this game ...I can only dream that my home ends up looking like yours but we can try . Wonderful video thank you
Have fun and good luck!
So inspired! Challenging my Facebook friends to join me doing this. Would love to see your face😉
@@BenitaLarsson I just watched your nieuw DITL Winter video and enjoyed very much! Thank You!
I also did the minsgame challenge in January. I was glad I was at the end of the game. Not expected that I would have so much to let go but it was necessary because I move to a smaller appartement next month :-) So many recognizable items, such as the books, the sewing supplies and the buttons. I had never decluttered these last ones before ;-)
Those buttons! Seems like everybody has a button collection!
