Knowing the real story of Anastasia and the fact that she died makes this song so much sadder. Because, like, in the movie she’s hopeful she’ll find family and be happy, but in reality she was murdered
Ughh my heart, this will always be one of my favorite animated movies ever. I love this scene and song so much, I used to sing along desperately while dancing hysterically through the living room. As a 90s kid, I'm really glad I grew up watching movies like this one and the Prince of Egypt
The sad thing about her life is she had such a horrible end, and while the movie was so far from accurate as she died, the research didn't' come out until the 2000s she died. I had the hopes as I was a 90s kid that she lived and history wasn't so bad. The sad thing is the elegance of the 1910s that the Romanovs and the many other Royals of europe was vanguished in a desire for a new system that in this the extreme case was a genocide of the aristocracy. The problem is that we keep making these romantic things, while suffering is real, and is needing to be reduced...the murder of people is never necessary.
Yes, but they also killed their doctor, cook, valet, maid and dog... People of those statuses wouldn't be able to start a revolution to take back the government. Especially a dog! It was evil slaughter :( Such a sad moment in history...
I believe there was also a belief that the family was dabbling in dark magic. If memory serves from history class, the youngest boy was really ill, and the family met constantly with a questionable person (the namesake of the villain in this movie) for healing. So the entire family and staff were probably killed because they were believed to have been tainted by dark magic.
Um, no, but I can see how you might make that mistake. :) Rasputin was believed to have mystical healing powers through prayer, and Alexei's mother turned to him for help after regular doctors couldn't cure painful bleeding from his Hemophilia B. However, she started relying on him more and more and believed his prayers were working, and Rasputin visited the palace very very often. The ruling class of Imperial Russia started to turn against him and not like him, since he started getting more privileges than they had. They were also afraid of him influencing the government somehow, and wanted to stop this. He was shot to death for this in 1916 (a year before the Bolsheviks took power in 1917, and two years before the execution of the Romanov family in 1918). Rasputin, however, did not have anything to do with the family's executions. Their deaths were purely political during the Russian Civil War when the Bolsheviks took over and established communism in the country.
By the way, I'm a 2000's kid and I also watched this when I was little. It's one of my favourite movies. Not only the 90's generation enjoyed this movie.
"Anastasia" is living proof that a movie doesn't have to be brand new in order to be good. Far too many young people today shun these masterpieces just because they're old, or because they're not action-packed.
Butsutekkai38 I find that a bit rude! They don't shun old movies, they've never heard of the old movies! I'm thirteen and I love all the old movies like this! My little sister will as well when she sees them!
I always thought that this was a Disney movie for the longest time until I was in high school. Anastasia is so underrated, even though the animation in it is just simply stunning, and the music is beautiful! And “Once Upon a December” is easily one of the best songs ever, it has this haunting feeling to it that draws you in
I'm gonna make sure my kids watch this movie. Anastasia is an instant classic, from the soundtrack, to the animation, to the relationships and storyline. It is truly a great movie and it breaks my heart that some kids in our current generation don't know this movie.
Ursulet Olivier only the grand mother Maria Feodorovna 😉she died in 1928 after the Genocid of the Romanov ,actually they say that she have never accepted the fact that her son and his family was assassinated 😕
Knowing the History of The Last Czar and his family, it was equally tragic learning the truth...and it wasn't until 2009 that DNA confirmed the tragic truth that they all died at the hands of The Communists that the remains of Anastasia and her brother Alexi were reunited with the rest of the Royal Family and laid to rest...they (The Last Czar, The Czarina, The Prince, and Princesses) are now saints in the Russian Orthodox Church....
I know their deaths were so tragic and I also hoped that two of the children were still alive, but I felt the same way when the DNA test confirmed they all died at the hands of the Bolsheviks
My mom sang this to me too, because I loved this movie growing up. This song is very special to me. When I was five, I sang this to my grandfather over the phone when he was dying. And I lost my mom last year. So, it reminds me of those I lost and I hold it very near and dear to my heart.
This song reminds me of my mom. It was "our" movie. The distance Anastasia feels when her memories, someone holding her safe and warm as a child, is how I feel about my memories with my mom. So familiar, the feeling, but you can't quite touch it again. My mom died in February. I miss her more than words could ever describe. Love you mom, hope I'll see you again soon.
Correct. Not to mention she was a mix of Russian royalty, German royalty (from her mother), and the great granddaughter of Queen Victoria (also from her mother). And as a Grand Dutchess, I believe she technically outranks a princess.
Actually, the reason for this character's existance is the real Anastasia Romanova, who is considered as one of the princesses (she had 3 sisters and a brother if I remember correctly). And Romanovs were Russian royal family, until they were killed in Soviet Union due to Lenin's order.
Caitlin Beadles Did they ever find her? I remember a report saying that she was dead but other scientist or whoever refuted the findings. Maybe she lived a long time and died peacefully.
Andre Ford Well, the whole mystery about her started because when they found the bodies of the Romanovs, a few were missing. Based on the remains, Alexi wasn't there, along with one of the other girls, either Anastasia or Maria, they couldn't tell at the time. But around 2007 they did find additional bodies whose DNA did match the royal family, so unfortunately Anastasia or Maria did die. But it's nice to dream, isn't it? At least their all together now.
My favourite Christmas song, used to watch Anastasia every year at Christmas since I was little even though I know Anastasia isn't a Christmas movie I tend to treat it as one
I’m 15 and my little brother is 9. I watched this movie for the first time when I was younger than he was and I completely fell in love with it. My parents introduced it to me since they watched it when they were younger. I plan on showing this movie to my children one day. The hunchback of notre dame, Anastasia, the prince of Egypt, and many other are all masterpieces that should never be forgotten.
This song is so beautifully made. If you pay attention to the lyrics and how Anastasia sings this with the music... It paints such a clear picture and story of her memory of home & her grandma!! Even the title makes sense with the timing of events! A true masterpiece with the subtle hints of the scene where Anastasia tried to flee Russia with her grandmother but got left behind as she tried to get on the train, only to be knocked unconscious unable to leave Russia. It's ingenious how they matched the lyrics to the scene of their memory together in Russia, only for it to be used later again in the movie when they reunited in Paris ('Together in Paris' key for the music box even had a purpose) and they both recall this song together in a much happier tone. This movie was well executed and well ahead of it's time. The quality of being able to bring together kids and adults to appreciate and enjoy this movie is outstanding! It may not have been popular during it's release, but those who've watched this movie always go back to it. Truly Timeless and marvelous! 👏✨
The theme of my childhood. I still remember having an Anastasia doll with a stand that danced to this song on a small blue cassette tape. I played it so often, I can't remember if it works anymore.
Pocahontas and Anastasia are both my favorite movies, both underrated and hated because of it being historically inaccurate, they're both great movies that deserve much more love.
This is my favourite princess movie by far. I love the history, I love that they found a storyline that doesn’t rely on the romance and the princess doesn’t need saving, I love the beautiful dresses and the flashbacks, dreams etc I just love the way it makes me FEEL Best of all I love the soundtrack. It is THE best soundtrack for a princess movie I’ve ever heard. Beautiful songs from the protagonist AND the antagonist.
This song is literally a masterpiece it makes me cry heavily every time and I don't know why not to mention how good the movie. I was born 7 years after this movie came out and I think it is sad how we can't have movies animated like this anymore and teens my age never got a chance to watch these amazing movies it just makes me want to cry.
Огромное спасибо создателям этого мультфильма! Проделать такую работу с изучением истории другой страны достойно уважения. У нас в России этот мультик очень любят, особенно эту композицию♥️.
This was the age of animation were the story was important not the effects or the overall realistic nature of the movie. I can see the movie in my mind with just the music and i haven't watched Anastasia in years. This too me is what makes animation a great thing, it can paint a world that otherwise would have been impossible with this world. EX: the Pixar theory
Yes sadly most people who look back at this and find out it was not Disney look down on it as if it was made to be a knock off however that was not the intended reason the creator made this for
I wish people of my generation would watch this movie, it makes me cry ;( These are the movie you need to share with your kids. I loved this movie the last time i watched it I was like a month ago. I should watch it more LOL. Anastasia holds a special place in my heart, as it has beautiful music that I sang and danced to in my bedroom ( I still do). I had a crush on Dimitri when I was around when i was 5, the first time i saw this film.
Saw Anastasia again for the first time a couple of days ago and last night this song and "In the Dark of the Night" were taking turns playing in my head all through my shift. Once Upon a December is most definitely my favorite song in the entire movie, and the singer's voice is absolutely gorgeous.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It's just so beautiful, so haunting and the lyrics are absolutely wonderful. I can listen to this song over and over again and not get tired of it.
@@bdayishere1018 Anastasia Romanov was part of the last Russian royal family, the Romanovs. They were all gruesomely murdered because their enemies feared that if a member of the royal family was left alive they could at some point reclaim the throne. Some people held out hope that the young daughter, Anastasia, somehow made it out alive but apparently that wasn't the case
One of the most haunting and beautiful animation songs ever. I wholeheartedly watched this film at least ten times in 1997 as a little girl. It also informed my interest in (the sad and true) Russian history later in life.
I played this song to my 3 year lad niece to put her to bed (she doesn’t speak English) and she really liked it, it calmed her down. But after listening to it for a few times in a row she suddenly told me: “I don’t want to start crying listening to this song. Can you please play me something more cheerful!” I was lost for words 😳
This is my siblings and mine favorite movie we used to watch it every Christmas as a trading. I miss watching this with them. "Things my heart used to know." Once upon a December 😢
I loved this film when I was a kid, it made me want to read up on all the history surrounding the story which in turn gave it even more appeal. The song itself is haunting but beautiful.
This movie was my favourite when I was little ('02 baby here) and I used to watch it every day but then kinda forgot about it until a few months ago, when in school a guy started playing that song on a piano. I almost started crying. It brought back so many happy memories and it also helped that the guy played the song FLAWLESSLY. I unfortunatelly don't know who the guy was, but thank you for that amazing moment ❤️
I always loved this movie. But of my generation of course many haven't seen it, as it's not "cool" to still watch these movies. Anastasia holds a special place in my heart, as it has beautiful music that I sang and danced to in my bedroom in pretty dresses and curled hair. I can even remember having a little crush on Dimitri when I was around 8 and first saw the movie ;). I'm now 15 and I still watch the movie every weekend, I can probably recite all of the songs by memory. I wish that this was a more well known movie as it surpasses every other animation that I have ever seen.
+Sukritta Panutrakul Just listening to this music again gives me chills on how beautiful it is. My generation is around , as you probably know, The whip, Hoverboards, Netflix and Chill, but in my mind, which nobody seems to understand is,when I think how these people were actually alive, even though their story was altered, it is just amazing how there were people before me, there were actually wars, they aren't just subjects you learn in a history book.
I just watched the movie today for the first time in years. I was so lucky to have a mother that introduced me to classics such as this, even if I am a 2000's kid. I wish more parents did their kids this service like mine did. This scene makes me cry every time. The beautiful vast ball room and the glowing dancers magically bursting through the paintings, ugh.. Gets me every time.
I have always felt a connection to this song and this movie. I never quite knew why, but for a long period of my life I thought I made this song up. I would hum it and dance to it in my head and none of my other friends knew what it was. It wasn't until just a few years ago I learned that it came from this movie, and I had no idea how I already knew the song, but once I saw the movie I loved it too. Turns out, when the movie was released I went and saw it with my Grandma (she passed away when I was in Elementary school) I never remembered the movie because I was too young when I saw it, but I remembered this song, and with the song came the memory of my Grandma which is why I love it so much. In a way, i kinda pulled off my own Anastasia story XD
I love this movie it's amazing and i hate the way kids my age haven't even heard about it or think it's old and boring. I think its amazing and i will show my kids this just like my mother showed me 💗😊
I'm an early 2000s kid and this song has made me cry at the end every time. the animation is so beautiful and even though it's incredibly inaccurate, the storyline and characters are beautiful. This movie is underrated and deserves so much more attention.
This is such a beautiful song with beautifully haunting lyrics, it's been in my mind ever since I watched the film when I was little. Very underrated film.
I didn’t watch this as a kid since I was born in 2007 but I have watched it recently and it’s beautiful this song is so enchanting and the villains song ‘ In The Dark of the Night’ is incredible
Me being Arabic most classics I watched as a child were subbed so it's amazing that I can listen to the original songs now because these songs are breathtaking
I LOVE this scene so much. Especially when Anastasia's family comes out of the photo and Nicolas II dances with her. It makes me want to watch an entire movie based on the events before the Reds stormed the palace.
I loved this film when I was little. I forgot many of the details when I became older, but the one thing I always remembered was this song - it's so beautiful... they practically transcribed the character's desperation, sorrow, nostalgia, and mystery into the melody. I think it's the defining track of the movie.
I loved this movie. I’m introducing it to my children in the future. So glad when I was swiping through movies to watch I got interested. The songs just made me feel so calm.
This, Swan Princess, Prince of egypt and Help im a fish were absolute favourites of mine and still are to this day! I still watch them and sing to the soundtracks.
This is hands down one of the best movies out there. Little me loved it. I was so sad when my parents told me the real story of them. Still one my favorites of course. But yeah. Mad chills everytime I hear it.
I love how it goes from her remembering things to the ballroom to her singing about what she wants to remember. It’s a rundown of the movie in a 2 minute 48 second song.
By far, one of my favorite movies. It surpassed, and still surpasses a lot of Disney stories. The emotion in the voice actors, the animation, and the songs are wonderful and have held up so well. My dad has since passed and ever since this song makes me cry when Anastasia dances with the ghost of her dad. If only it was possible 😢

I want to choreograph something for this at my wedding. It'd be similar to the movie, but not quite the same. It's slowly coming together. _music box_ My husband and I are standing dead still, in a music-box-statuette pose. I'm in pure, snow white, whereas my husband is wearing cold winter colors--teals and blues. _"Dancing bears, painted wings--things I almost. . . remember. And a song, someone sings--"_ My husband and I begin slowly turning, in a music-box like style. _"Once, upon, a December."_ We begin to waltz. A smooth, simple waltz. Our faces are polite smiles, as if we are two people dancing for a pure formality. As if we're statuettes on a music box. _"Someone holds me, safe and warm. . ."_ My husband and I begin to step closer to each other, our faces and and postures becoming more intimate. Our movements are more smooth and in tandem--we no longer look like we're mechanical. _"Horses prance through a silver storm. . ."_ Our movements become swifter, maybe even adding a hop (I'm dabbling with that one) _"Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory. . ."_ My husband pushes me off and I spin, maybe flaring my dress, as he continues to dance as if I'm still with him (this is still in progress, I may just continue the choreography from the previous line) _choir comes in_ My father, dressed in reds and creams (warm colors that contrast with my husband's, representing the past I know and the memories that won't leave me) steps in and waltzes with me in place of my husband. _"Someone holds me safe and warm, horses prance though a silver storm. . ."_ I break away from my father and dance with my husband. _"Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory. Far away, long ago, glowing dim as an ember, things my heart used to know--things it years to remember. . ."_ I break away from my husband, standing between my father and him. They are dancing around me. My husband comes up and brushes his hand over my sleeve/dress/something as if he's complimenting it. I rock step and put my hand over my mouth as if I'm laughing in delight at his gesture. My father comes up and takes my hand and tries to embrace me in a dance, but I break away from him. _"And a song, someone sings. . ."_ I turn away from my father (the warm past I knew, the inviting, familiar home and memories, I loved) and face my husband. _"Once, upon a Dec - e - m - ber. . ."_ He kneels before me and takes my hand. Both of us have warm smiles on our faces. Behind me, my father turns away from me, looking forlorn, and he walks away. The idea of this is a courtship, a fight between the two of them for me. My husband is the cold, unknown future, whereas my father is the warm, loving life I've always known. My father doesn't want to give me up to him, (I myself am afraid of the uncertain life and do not wish to leave the warm hearth that is my family and memories) but in the end, I choose my husband.

Not only the 90's generation enjoyed this movie.

anastasia is criminally underrated. all of the songs slap, the animation is beautiful, and the story is so exciting
Sophie Hobbs Now now dear, no need to get emotional. I was only speaking from mine own experience.
Or that they don't follow the original story.
Im 11 and i LOVE old films and musicals!! Especially calamity jane!💟
My favourite movies are old ones and I love this
I always thought that this was a Disney movie for the longest time until I was in high school. Anastasia is so underrated, even though the animation in it is just simply stunning, and the music is beautiful! And “Once Upon a December” is easily one of the best songs ever, it has this haunting feeling to it that draws you in
wait it's not disney???
stinky addison no it isn’t. It was released by 20th Century Fox
Scotti Brown Till March 20th 2019.
This song is so haunting and magical, in a good way.
I'm gonna make sure my kids watch this movie. Anastasia is an instant classic, from the soundtrack, to the animation, to the relationships and storyline. It is truly a great movie and it breaks my heart that some kids in our current generation don't know this movie.
I loved this movie. The true story is so sad though.
Yup. Nobody survived ^^'
Ursulet Olivier only the grand mother Maria Feodorovna 😉she died in 1928 after the Genocid of the Romanov ,actually they say that she have never accepted the fact that her son and his family was assassinated 😕
Q
That's...that's depressing.
Moha Shetty I agree with you so much
Knowing the History of The Last Czar and his family, it was equally tragic learning the truth...and it wasn't until 2009 that DNA confirmed the tragic truth that they all died at the hands of The Communists that the remains of Anastasia and her brother Alexi were reunited with the rest of the Royal Family and laid to rest...they (The Last Czar, The Czarina, The Prince, and Princesses) are now saints in the Russian Orthodox Church....
I know their deaths were so tragic and I also hoped that two of the children were still alive, but I felt the same way when the DNA test confirmed they all died at the hands of the Bolsheviks
Yeah, so sad that they died and not lived a long fulfilling life. The Bolsheviks didn't need to mercilessly kill the children.
Man people love romanticizing the aristocracy...
worse was what they did to the people
@@emhu2594 bruh why kill the kids?
My mother used to sing this to me every night before I went to bed when I was a little girl . When I found out there was a movie I was excited
Also known as: parenting done right :) You are a lucky girl :)
230th like
My mom sang this to me too, because I loved this movie growing up.
Anastasia was not a princess, she's the grand duchess.
And as for duchess thing, Anastasia was a "Tsarevna", which is commonly mistranslated from Russian as Grand Duchess, but really means Grand Princess.
Caitlin Beadles
Did they ever find her?
Like Disney's Pocahontas movies Anastasia is based on a sad true story.
And both are horribly inaccurate
For example John Rolfe being a Diplomat instead of a tobacco farmer but I understand why Disney changed his occupation.
+sangbum60090 not unless you believe that Anastasia might have survived and that the evidence that she died is fake.
That moment when her sisters emerge from the portrait and start dancing with her I am a weeping mess..
My favourite Christmas song, used to watch Anastasia every year at Christmas since I was little even though I know Anastasia isn't a Christmas movie I tend to treat it as one
I was obsessed with this movie as a kid. Now in 2020, I still find myself randomly singing this song.
same
I just saw this movie again today and I've now had the songs stuck in head since 9am
Because once upon a december you weren't stuck inside and free. Back then you were confined to your home.
The best song of the entire movie in my opinion.
So beautiful
One of the very few fantastic animated movies and songs outside of the disney powerhouse
it's belongs to fox, although now fox is from disney
@@kmponce hakuna-matata lol
Pocahontas and Anastasia are both my favorite movies, both underrated and hated because of it being historically inaccurate, they're both great movies that deserve much more love.
Pocahontas is straight up disrespectful. They made a love story with her rapist
The sequence where she dances with her dad never fails to make me ugly cry
Am i the only one who realized her reflection is Anastasia wearing a dress opposed to her in a coat and tied up hair? Pure cinematic...
This is my favourite princess movie by far. I love the history, I love that they found a storyline that doesn’t rely on the romance and the princess doesn’t need saving, I love the beautiful dresses and the flashbacks, dreams etc I just love the way it makes me FEEL
Best of all I love the soundtrack. It is THE best soundtrack for a princess movie I’ve ever heard. Beautiful songs from the protagonist AND the antagonist.
Couldn't agree more, it's so lovely
This song is literally a masterpiece it makes me cry heavily every time and I don't know why not to mention how good the movie. I was born 7 years after this movie came out and I think it is sad how we can't have movies animated like this anymore and teens my age never got a chance to watch these amazing movies it just makes me want to cry.
I love her end note…The way she holds it and carries it little by little…so beautiful
This was one of my favorite childhood cartoons. Watched it over many times. And love the music.
Honestly one of the most underrated songs in a animated movie.
Madeline Agreed.
You have good taste, ma'am. This has some of the best music I have *ever* heard.
Saw Anastasia again for the first time a couple of days ago and last night this song and "In the Dark of the Night" were taking turns playing in my head all through my shift. Once Upon a December is most definitely my favorite song in the entire movie, and the singer's voice is absolutely gorgeous.
Dancing bears,
Painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings,
Once upon a December.
Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a silver storm,
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory
Someone holds me safe and warm,
Horses prance through a silver storm,
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory.
Far away,
Long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
Things it yearns to remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It's just so beautiful, so haunting and the lyrics are absolutely wonderful. I can listen to this song over and over again and not get tired of it.
She was a real princess but was gunned down by people. It's a sad story but the movie is still good. It's not entirely accurate tho...
but she wasn't a princess... she was a grand duchess...
Lisa Johnson she wasn’t gunned down by just “ people” she was gunned down by Bolsheviks, who were communists.
@@trashpanda9615 not communists...socialists...because communism doesn't have greed.
What happened
*3 year old
genetical memory of ancestors :)
Don’t doubt the intelligence of children
This song!!!! It reminds me of my childhood! I always liked Anastasia more than the Little Mermaid or Cinderella.
I believe this song rivals any Disney song and is just as great.
Same goes for the scene that accompanies it. Masterpiece.
I'm from the 2000's and every time someone talks about let it go I always bring up once upon a December and how magical it is ❤️
When she danced with her father I got a little teary eyed when I was little and I still do 😭😭💕
This is my siblings and mine favorite movie we used to watch it every Christmas as a trading.
+Hannah M Yep. 17 and still watch this as well as many old Disney and Dreamworks animations (COUGH COUGH Treasure Planet) every weekend :)
+Hannah M I'm 20 and I still watch it!! I love this movie, and its songs.
+Hannah M im with sukritta age wise on this one lol, watched it in world history class once and fell in love with it!
Hahhhaa I'm 17..n I still didn't watch dis movie
Oh my gosh you did!
I love this movie it's amazing and i hate the way kids my age haven't even heard about it or think it's old and boring. I think its amazing and i will show my kids this just like my mother showed me 💗😊
I just watched Anastasia and it is now my fav movie. 2020 anyone?
Such A Beautiful Piece Of Melody~
One of the best song I've ever heard
This song is Beautiful that it still plays in my head happily😊😊😊
I'm an early 2000s kid and this song has made me cry at the end every time. the animation is so beautiful and even though it's incredibly inaccurate, the storyline and characters are beautiful. This movie is underrated and deserves so much more attention.
This is such a beautiful song with beautifully haunting lyrics, it's been in my mind ever since I watched the film when I was little. Very underrated film.
learning this in choir. its awesome

First movie with soundtrack I really appreciated in my childhood. Still can't forget 'til now! Really great movie
The way the ballroom dancers sound like they’re harmonising their cries sounds mournful and calling out rather than sweet is such a good detial
Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't this the palace flashback sequence?
Yes! She dances with the ghosts! 😊
yeahh
Yes!
I was born in 2005 yet this movie is my personal favorite. The song has a really melancholic tune to it but it's so good.💕
This song used to put me to sleep as a child. I love this movie and this song. Just beautiful.
I loved this movie. I’m introducing it to my children in the future. So glad when I was swiping through movies to watch I got interested. The songs just made me feel so calm.
Used to watch this as a kid all the time. Now I'm 25, just rewatched-still chills, tears and joy. I appreciate it....so much.
This, Swan Princess, Prince of egypt and Help im a fish were absolute favourites of mine and still are to this day! I still watch them and sing to the soundtracks.
I still have a DVD of this movie. i had gotten it when I was about six/seven. This was my favorite song...
Ah, the memories.
This is hands down one of the best movies out there. Little me loved it. I was so sad when my parents told me the real story of them. Still one my favorites of course. But yeah. Mad chills everytime I hear it.
WHY IS "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared" RECOMMENDED UNDER THIS VIDEO LOL.. Amazing song by the way, always loved this movie since I was a child
mine's a whole bunch of Disney songs, lol
Out of all the musicals I've seen in my life, Anastasia's my favorite of them all.
This song will always have a special place in my heart! Sang this song to get my first solo in chorus.
I love how it goes from her remembering things to the ballroom to her singing about what she wants to remember. It’s a rundown of the movie in a 2 minute 48 second song.
Haunting Melody
By far, one of my favorite movies. It surpassed, and still surpasses a lot of Disney stories. The emotion in the voice actors, the animation, and the songs are wonderful and have held up so well. My dad has since passed and ever since this song makes me cry when Anastasia dances with the ghost of her dad. If only it was possible 😢
This is always my favorite song to sing from this movie because the music and it just rocks
Natalie Abigail Sosa happy birthday cake myself mom and my sister are all in the same place as the one I love to be here and I am not going to be here and I am not going to be here and I am not going to be here and I am not going to be here and I am not going
I love the instrumental for the song, it is so good!!! Especially after across My memory
December 1, 2019 and I'm here getting violently slapped in the face with nostalgia even though I've had this song on my phone for over 10 years.
I got into the whole History of the Romanov royalty cuz of this movie. Tragic I tell you.
One of the best songs that Disney has never been able to match ever and never will ever
This brings back SO much nostalgia from my childhood!
I was a super fan of Anastasia😍😍😍 so sad kids today dont get to enjoy these classics as much
Man I know I'm not the only one who cries to this song, especially at the end of the song "and a song someone sings....once upon a december"😢😭😭😭😭
This movie makes me cry, and not just because of the story but because of the music and the animation, the movie is so beautiful
I want to choreograph something for this at my wedding. It'd be similar to the movie, but not quite the same. It's slowly coming together.
_music box_
My husband and I are standing dead still, in a music-box-statuette pose. I'm in pure, snow white, whereas my husband is wearing cold winter colors--teals and blues.
_"Dancing bears, painted wings--things I almost. . . remember. And a song, someone sings--"_
My husband and I begin slowly turning, in a music-box like style.
_"Once, upon, a December."_
We begin to waltz. A smooth, simple waltz. Our faces are polite smiles, as if we are two people dancing for a pure formality. As if we're statuettes on a music box.
_"Someone holds me, safe and warm. . ."_
My husband and I begin to step closer to each other, our faces and and postures becoming more intimate. Our movements are more smooth and in tandem--we no longer look like we're mechanical.
_"Horses prance through a silver storm. . ."_
Our movements become swifter, maybe even adding a hop (I'm dabbling with that one)
_"Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory. . ."_
My husband pushes me off and I spin, maybe flaring my dress, as he continues to dance as if I'm still with him (this is still in progress, I may just continue the choreography from the previous line)
_choir comes in_
My father, dressed in reds and creams (warm colors that contrast with my husband's, representing the past I know and the memories that won't leave me) steps in and waltzes with me in place of my husband.
_"Someone holds me safe and warm, horses prance though a silver storm. . ."_
I break away from my father and dance with my husband.
_"Figures dancing gracefully, across my memory. Far away, long ago, glowing dim as an ember, things my heart used to know--things it years to remember. . ."_
I break away from my husband, standing between my father and him.
_"And a song, someone sings. . ."_
I turn away from my father (the warm past I knew, the inviting, familiar home and memories, I loved) and face my husband.
_"Once, upon a Dec - e - m - ber. . ."_
He kneels before me and takes my hand.
I hope it went as the way you describe it. Well it's been 3 years so XD
That is a awesome idea!
This movie is so underrated. I love this song so much. For some reason it makes me want to cry, I don't know why.
