The only people allowed to stay were members of the sponsoring groups? That's news to me. I'm neither a College Republican (or even a regular Republican) nor am I in the YAF. I was allowed to stay because I was not disrupting the event. I was taking pictures and video and I was not a part of any of the factions that were involved in the conflict.
