I rather skill than IQ with randoms because at least they might hit a shot 😂
😂😂 shooting tough this year
No! IQ all day.
Why do you choose IQ?
I love when teams play zone against me. I usually have my best games. Most people aren’t expecting a PF to take them off the dribble and shoot fading midranges lol
That middy Pullup kills zones everytime😂
Great video!!! Both are important but I think 2k rewards more than IQ. Having a good IQ is more than knowing when to back door, curl off a screen or slip the pick and roll. It's also about reacting to different looks and making adjustments. A lot of players get away with not being able to read the different options on a pick roll because they can fade from 30 or left right behind a screen until the defender is pulled into it. But when it comes to breaking the zone specifically in rec or pro am IQ is more important because you have to be able to shoot (skill) but you also have to get good looks (IQ).
Well said, i guess in my opinion the higher the skill level, the more of a difference IQ will make. Pure skill can win on the lowest levels of competition but like i said, the better the team you’re facing, the more IQ you’ll need
Yeah I agree with that 100 percent @@pointgod2_
It’s easier to develop a skill than developing iq. If I’m not good enough to do something I can figure out how to do it eventually by trying it. But developing iq is a mental problem
Although i agree it’s that way for the majority, i definitely gained IQ after i already was skilled. You’re right tho IQ is the mental game !
You can be as skilled as you want , if you dont understand how to attack a zone or move the ball doesn't mean nothing 😔
Very true, as important as skill is, i believe IQ is the game changer in winning vs better teams!
Tough Question, without skill you can make the right plays all game and miss majority of your shots.
But without IQ nobody will make the right passes or be in the right spots on the court
Yeah Id rather have high IQ and little skill than high skill and low IQ. I dont think there's anyone without either but in general you can teach people a skill...not so easy to teach someone or raise someone's IQ.
Outside of a random you can show a newbie with IQ how to get better at the game in my observation.
@NicooRico good point, IQ is a mental thing so a stubborn person can get better from repetitions skill wise but their mindset can limit their IQ. It’s definitely an idea worthy thinking about though in terms of which would you prefer
Everything is wrong with squads REC. Solo REC is bullshit too, but better than squads. As for skill vs IQ, I would rather play with players who have IQ because at least they can see plays happening and can move the ball around effectively, see cuts to the basket, etc. There is nothing worse than losing because of both bad IQ and no skill.
It’s tough cause like i said when you make the right play but they keep missing, leads to the other team out in transition for fast breaks!
@pointgod2_ Yeah, it's tough, haha. I still would rather lose playing team ball though. I honestly get more angry when we win and all I did was lock my opponent down all game and get no touches offensively. I have more fun playing like a team, I can live with the results from there. That's why squads is so terrible, because they will play buddy ball all game. It's a shit show often. At least in solo, nobody is online with a friend, and the ball usually moves around better. So I guess I still didn't really answer your question, I'm complaining about "buddy ball" lol.
I understand, playing Buddy ball is definitely a issue in squads rec. I see why you picked IQ because you rather make the right play. I respect the honesty of saying just playing defense isn’t enough for you.
@pointgod2_ 100% bro. I feel that if I'm reliable defensively, then I should be allowed to participate in making plays because I'm capable of doing that, too. I don't even care if y'all want to take all the shots. Just allow me to be a part of the offense by playmaking. Need to spread the love lol.
I.Q over skill. I have a 93% w in the rec. Most people i encounter dont understand spacing. I may not have the deepest bag but my quality of possessions are greater.
Quality possessions are a direct result from IQ, i definitely agree. What do you do if the right play is to make a pass to someone on your team who struggles to shoot? The defense consistently sags or helps off them. Just want to pick your Brain.
@pointgod2_ i would force the center to come out to the foul line and I would throw the backdoor. ( often the back can't use his icons quick enough to face the cutter and usually gets a bad jump or foul ). But I also just let them either iso , post or just plain shoot. Just give them confidence , maybe they will get out of the drought when you need them most.
@pointgod2_ also having them or ball screen then space usually helps punish the guy playing back.
I usually have the same approach as you explained here too, find a way to make their defender be involved in either a cut or on/off ball screens. Make them play honest defense. Respect 💪
Im taking iq over skill. Like the 2014 spurs(iq) vs these teams now that are new super teams that arent working
Fair enough
I feel like most IQ players can shoot honestly. I have 3-4 main dudes in my squad and we all can shoot. Our 5th person changes day to day. Sometimes can shoot sometimes can’t and generally have lower IQ than us.
I def know and run with a lotta guys that can shoot but have no IQ😂
I feel you but I’ve played with a lot of people who know how to space the floor but can’t time a shot for nothing. It’s good that they know what to do, but execution is just as important. It could just be who I’ve played with though, cause i agree with you to and extent.
I rather IQ because if a person masters IQ then the skill will just follow and i kinda disagree but not fully i think people should go to pro am if they want to run zone before they even see what the offense is capable of. Do you not have enough stick skill to lock someone down? Like in ball you dont automatically go to a zone everytime these squad automatically go to a zone and so far i only see xbox players go in zone and most of them are bad, but if i dont have the right players could still lose to them
My reasoning for SOME of the 2-3 teams still should play rec is because there’s tons of them who aren’t good enough to play pro am. It’s tough because like i said in the vid, their better than the average rec player, but not yet at the level of pro am. In an IDEAL world they would go to pro am and learn from their losses, but this community is all about winning over actual progression
My group I run with play man 95% of the time. Most of us are pretty good defenders
Shoutout to ya, man with rotations my favorite defense to play
No way a shirt is on the cam?😮
Rare occurance😂
Everyone on my team can shoot so we beat that zone every time
Likewise, what’s your thoughts on if those teams should go to pro am or not ?
