I had no idea rubbing the chest can be calming. My boyfriend’s family adopted a dog that’s been through some serious trauma and he gets quite anxious easily. Poor Sydney yes, but poor Sam too. WHO leaves a dog outside all day without a shelter? But at least things seem to have ended well. Doggie day care looks like a fun time.

I completely agree. They were completely clueless but in a kind of naive almost childlike way. Once shown what to do, they really stepped up to the mark.
@@sweeperboy Well, the wife was only 24. She probably just graduated from college not too long before this episode aired. And it was likely that while she was in college, Sydney stayed at her parents' house. The parents took care of Sydney while the wife was away, the wife would come home for weekends, holidays, and vacations. And Sydney enjoyed being the only dog around the house and she was perfectly with the way everything was arranged before this couple got married. Dogs and cats are highly attuned to any changes within their living situations. They easily can get very stressed out due to things like that, because they don't entirely understand what's going on. So with the couple getting married, moving into their own home, and then deciding to bring a new baby dog in on top of it, that was way too much, way too soon for Sydney to handle. Especially since Sydney was an older senior dog who was likely used to being the only dog around the house. And dogs can be like kids to where when the couple got a baby dog, Sydney probably was paranoid and terrified that her "parents" got a brand new dog just to replace her. She wasn't happy about it, and the dogs being left on their own for long periods of time didn't help either. I don't think the couple really gave Sydney the proper amount of time to adjust to Sam and learn to live with him, they probably expected that the two dogs would just instantly get along without any issues. And that's not how it always works-with either kids or dogs. If you do have a senior dog that is used to being the only dog in the house, it's crucial to see how they will take to a younger dog in the house. Sydney was obviously not ready to have another dog in their house. She probably wasn't even adjusted well enough to her new place before they decided to get another dog. You really have to understand your dog and just accept that they won't always take to what you want to do. These owners were clearly not bad people this time. They just didn't know what was going on and didn't handle things the best way they could've. So when they were told of better ways to make both Sydney and Sam happier, they were more than happy to do it. They just needed a little more help and guidance they weren't getting and help with what they truly didn't know.
Their mistake came from being goodhearted and not letting Sam rot away in a shelter, if memory serves he came from there. Another option would have been to get a good family for him soon. He is such a good boy, and a beautiful dog so I guess that can't be that hard when a family can vouch for him (if his only mistake is that he cannot stand up to a Jack Russel).
Yep! I have a chocolate lab that will go in my pool any chance she gets, she will stay in for about 5-10 seconds if she was in my pool circling then get out

Try to change to positive reinforcement if you can. This works too when you ride, give him some walk parts, with long reins and cuddles for a short time, especially after he made a good work session or a hard training part. I bet he will like that, many horses search for these short quiet moments to calm down from training that needs a great amount of concentration, and everyone loves to hear what they did good, way more than to hear what they did wrong Hope it helps you and he gets less anxious, and more self-confident, positive reinforment helps to boost self-confidence
nerihyuga I don’t think that’s gonna work too well with him. If he does something wrong, I have to correct it. Normally, I’m taught to punish it rather than correct it. If I don’t at least correct it then he will continue the behavior over and over. Most of the horses I ride do that. Most of them have simply been hardwired to think they’re going to be punished with pain every time they make a mistake. That’s what I want to change with positive reinforcement. Give them rewards when they do what I’m asking and correct when a mistake is made so they can then get the treat when they do what I ask. That’s what I want to train. Hopefully I can convince his owner (my lesson instructor) to let me try going bitless with him. Honestly it's mostly that they look like people who don't get how distressing anxiety is. If they never had trauma or severe anxiety in their life, it's likely they just can't understand how horrible it feels.
Wait, the owner has had the dog since she was 12, and Sydney herself is 12, so the owner is 23-24, and has a house that nice!? What!? I'm 23 with a full time job in a crappy apartment barely managing to make my bills on time!
I do too! I feel bad for both of them. She's stressed that there's a new dog in her house, and probably jealous and worried that she's going to lose her family. And he's such a good hearted, laid back, sweet boy, and is stuck outside all day.
Lakenya Mitchell of course but Sydney was there first, she is old and does not like other dogs but they brought one in regardless. So their solution to their mistake is to lock Sam outside in all kinds of weather not fair to him...to either dog.
My last dog, bless her soul, probably died because of consequences of stress. I loved her so much. Wish I could go back in time and change things, but with her I learned how to be better. This makes me cry because I got her when I was so young (6 years old) and so ignorant about how to properly take care of a dog. She had a good life but now I see how it could've been better. I'm never making the same mistakes again. Ever. I watch Victoria's videos religiously now. Love you guys
Why are people never happy with the status quo? Sydney as an older pup just needed to live out her years and then they could have got another dog after a mourning period.
It's really common to get a second dog and usually both profit from it - the older dog gets stimulated in a good way from the younger one and the younger dog can learn from a well behaved one
A lot of people smile/laugh when they’re unsure how to react in a situation. And especially with the cameras she may be nervous and not showing her inner reaction. Or it could be denial.
Poor dog Shes strong Nice Cute And seems friendly I'm thankful that Victoria does this cause it helps everyone I just think the dog was overprotective or he doesn't spend enough time with the dog it was probably misunderstood I love all animals no matter what they all deserve love Just cause it is stressed doesn't mean its mean or aggressive It just needs help
it’s so surprising that people assume a shaking dog isn’t weird. if a human shook 24/7 you’d notice and either ask them if they’re okay and avoid them.
I am experiencing this myself and am seeking help for it. I’ve been in a chronic state of stress for most of my life and I have to go to a psychologist because now I have developed chronic nightmares. Always exhausted, always fatigued. I have experienced a relaxing state once last month.... I felt dead because I don’t recognize that feeling of relaxation. Sad how something normal is foreign. The pooor pooor poooooor puppy 😭 breaks my heart.
Stress having such a huge impact on senior dogs really worries me for my old pup who's scared to death of thunderstorms. She shakes uncontrollably, pants heavily and will pace the house.
You know, in the other clip I was like "Keep that little rat away from Sam. He's such a good dog!" Now I see this and realize the poor little thing is old and scared out of her mind by a much bigger dog. Sam is well behaved, but she's still intimidated by the presence of a much larger animal that could easily take her down if he tried to do so.
Great episode! I love seeing owners appreciate Victoria's advice and really make all the changes she recommended. It really shows that they are first responsible people and also that they really take the life of their dogs seriously and are willing to do what it takes to make them happy and healthy! Well done!!
I completely agree with Victoria that no dog should be at daycare every single day. I work at a daycare and we sell “packages” so you can bring your dog (x) amount of days a week at a discounted price. Quite a few parents send their dogs every weekday, sometimes also on weekends, and those dogs are SO crabby by the end of the week 😅
Would have loved to see them put a doggy pool with a little water in it in the backyard for Sam. Not to much water since one has to be mindful of hyperhydration even more so if it's warm outside, but just covering the pool ground so he could cool down his belly.
I can't believe that due to this video now ik what my dog has because his vet said that he was just trying to get attention but after looking up chronic stress on dogs I realize that my dog has all the symptoms, so thanks Victoria now I know what I can do.
My Lacey, a Labrador-Dachshund mix, is the center of my world. I can't imagine confining her to my bedroom all day OR being left outside and unattended to. Lacey is free to roam around my house, but she prefers to stay in my bedroom. My bed is under a fan, so it's cool in the summer; and in the winter, she sleeps on her bed (my reading chair that I decorate with pillows and blankets) by the heating vent. Lacey is a pampered little puppy and I would never neglect her in any way. She's my fur-baby!
I have a part Jack Russell that is a rescue and has lots of things that stress her. She is terrified of thunderstorms. We had enough rainstorms that part of the town flooded and some dogs were left in their flooded homes. This happened when she was very young. I know she had a home before the dog catcher caught her. I believe she was a one of those dogs left behind because she tries to get out of the house during a storm. The only thing that calmed her at first was to have her leash on. She is slowly getting better but it is very slow work. This given to me some more things to try.
I suffer from chronic stress and anxiety too due to an illness called dysautonomia, it is a serious problem to treat and because of it I have depression too so I know how Sydney feels and the blasé reaction to it by her owners is shocking.
Hehe, Victoria really doesn't beat about the bush. That's due her love of dogs, and it always shows in her smile when dogs are showing their happy side. These peeps finally did the right thing so far, but I hope this isn't the final setting for Sydney and Sam. They're both loved by their owners, so I hope they can become doggy buddies, that would be for the best.
We live in Florida, it gets hot here, our outside dogs have huge fans that blow into their shady places to keep them cool, they love it, they will lay right in the wind.
Victoria’s intelligence is so attractive. I rub my dog’s chest to wake him up in the morning after I say his name. He’s a very mellow, nearly blind senior and he almost goes back to sleep when I rub his chest.
I mean our husky stays outside all day. She hates being inside and loves it outside no matter the weather. Half of her kennel is shaded and has a dog house and the other side is nice and sunny so she can choose where she wants to lay throughout the day
My jack Russel hated being inside he would sit by the door until we let him out, even on hot days so I would just put a bottle with ice in his water, grass and shade helps keep them cooler, also hosing them with water he hated that too.
I have an almost 15yr old mini poodle named Cindy, who shakes quite a bit and has bad attachment/seperation disorder. We're convinced she's also immortal too because she's not spayed (not our choice)
That’s typical for an elderly dog to be shaking due to anxiety and stress. My dachshund was 19 years old, he was blind and deaf but he could sense who was in the house. One time my mom came over to see him and he was going in circles and started crying because he knew that wasn’t me standing there. My mom asked what’s wrong with him and I said oh he’s just stressed out because he can sense your presence. He died of natural causes related to old age October 2023.
Love and blessings from India Victoria .... After seeing ur vedios my dog is well behaved and after seeing vedios I understood my dog is going through anxiety as we lost one more pet so we take care of him well now
Love the doggie daycare, look at the forecast and choose the hottest, coldest and rainiest days. I cannot believe they had to have Victoria tell them he needed a shelter. Ugh
Wait, if she’s concerned about him being in the heat outside that shade thing is great but what about if there is a torrential downpour with high winds? That thing offers no protection from the elements really JMO
Let’s hope that they’re watching the weather and prepare in advance. Perhaps the sandbox has flaps for the side but still not the most adequate protection. Perhaps they take him to doggy daycare on those days.....👍🏼
What I find kind of odd is that prior she said "shade doesn't give any protection, it's still hot, I'm sweating". And they got him a shade for sun protection and she was like "wow that's great".
If you thought Sydney was a handful when you saw her attacking Sam, here is the other side of the story!
I love you'r video's Victoria! it really inspires me

I wonder if she would still have stress if she was a more laid-back breed... Like a pug.

Honestly it's mostly that they look like people who don't get how distressing anxiety is. If they never had trauma or severe anxiety in their life, it's likely they just can't understand how horrible it feels.
I think they are just naive and needed someone to open their eyes for them. I feel they "got it" when Victoria did so.
No kidding The guy looks like he understood but the Lady looked like she was smiling.
Wait, the owner has had the dog since she was 12, and Sydney herself is 12, so the owner is 23-24, and has a house that nice!? What!? I'm 23 with a full time job in a crappy apartment barely managing to make my bills on time!
But she married a trust fund kid..
Also depends on where you live.
This is about the dogs!! Not about you ! 😣
@@xDarkTrinityx Also depends on what she does for a living.
Girl same here I am watching youtube videos snacking on potato chips lol
I know it’s not Sydney’s fault but, am I the only one that feels bad for Sam?😕
I do too! I feel bad for both of them. She's stressed that there's a new dog in her house, and probably jealous and worried that she's going to lose her family. And he's such a good hearted, laid back, sweet boy, and is stuck outside all day.
I feel bad for them both they're such sweet dogs and deserve the best home environment
Lakenya Mitchell of course but Sydney was there first, she is old and does not like other dogs but they brought one in regardless. So their solution to their mistake is to lock Sam outside in all kinds of weather not fair to him...to either dog.
@@patveldon6843 Great assessment 👏
No
My last dog, bless her soul, probably died because of consequences of stress.
IT wasn't your fault. We All learn from our mistakes. Wish you All the best
@@armindaoramas9292 Thank you for your kindness!
Oh my god, Sam is sooo precious 😭😭😭
7:22
that is so cute.... omg! her face
shout out to all the Jack Russell
Poor little girl. She looked so scared. I'm glad Victoria was able to work her magic and help her to feel better.
Poor Sam, in the heat!
It's not fair with Sam ! 😒
H0RSEMAN0FWAR 86 they had caves/dens they stayed in so similar to a doggie house
@H0RSEMAN0FWAR 86 their wild animals dogs adopted are supposed to be in a home not outside
Poor Sammy. He’s a good boy
How and why is she smiling, almost loughing, when Victoria explains how anxiety can damage...
A lot of people smile/laugh when they’re unsure how to react in a situation. And especially with the cameras she may be nervous and not showing her inner reaction.
Or it could be denial.
Yeah, that freaks me out too 😕
I was thinking the same thing
The husband reminds me of Gabe from the office
Blackkat I was trying to figure out the nicest way to insult him. Think this is it
Omg yes!
Who got stressed by the dogs stress then you learn about the health risks and stress out even more
Poor dog
Shes strong
Nice
Cute
And seems friendly
I'm thankful that Victoria does this cause it helps everyone
I just think the dog was overprotective or he doesn't spend enough time with the dog it was probably misunderstood
I love all animals no matter what they all deserve love
Just cause it is stressed doesn't mean its mean or aggressive
It just needs help
it’s so surprising that people assume a shaking dog isn’t weird. if a human shook 24/7 you’d notice and either ask them if they’re okay and avoid them.
Aww so sad the dog is facing stress. That is so sad. I’m glad Sidney is receiving help and getting distressed
The look on Sidneys face is like help me 7:15
I really loved when Victoria was explaining about the chronic stress, it was so professional, as her! ❤️
My dog is like that too...he’s very sweet....I love him more then anything...
Stress having such a huge impact on senior dogs really worries me for my old pup who's scared to death of thunderstorms. She shakes uncontrollably, pants heavily and will pace the house.
They could also put in a kiddie pool for the dogs!! That would help
You know, in the other clip I was like "Keep that little rat away from Sam. He's such a good dog!"
Now I see this and realize the poor little thing is old and scared out of her mind by a much bigger dog. Sam is well behaved, but she's still intimidated by the presence of a much larger animal that could easily take her down if he tried to do so.
As someone who has anxiety I can’t imagine how much agony that dog is in I could never live in a state of constant stress without lashing out poor pup
Great example of the power of engaging the seeking system to override fear, rage and panic and the use of conditioning relaxation.
Would have loved to see them put a doggy pool with a little water in it in the backyard for Sam. Not to much water since one has to be mindful of hyperhydration even more so if it's warm outside, but just covering the pool ground so he could cool down his belly.
Sam's face at 8:08 makes me want to cry 😢
They look like the couple, that gets brutally murdered in a horror movie.
🤣I can't unsee it now
PLEASKEKSKS why did u think of this LMAOO
Really admire how this couple listened to Victoria & implemented all of the things she recommended 👍
This has to be the most proper couple I have seen so far! Good for them and the dogs!
I suffer from chronic stress and anxiety too due to an illness called dysautonomia, it is a serious problem to treat and because of it I have depression too so I know how Sydney feels and the blasé reaction to it by her owners is shocking.
I appreciate you for showing both sides of the story so clearly. Thank you, team!
Poor Sam he doesn't know why he has to sit out there without the people he loves all day
Don't bring another animal without your first one consent. It's also its home!
Did anyone else see that dog do a whole backflip 9:19😂
I just noticed 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh! I saw other bits of this episode and thought Victoria was unusually short with the people, but this makes more sense.
I lovr your videos and i love how you help people with their dogs
I really enjoy this channel it make's me learn about dog's
Victoria’s intelligence is so attractive.
I rub my dog’s chest to wake him up in the morning after I say his name. He’s a very mellow, nearly blind senior and he almost goes back to sleep when I rub his chest.
I mean our husky stays outside all day. She hates being inside and loves it outside no matter the weather. Half of her kennel is shaded and has a dog house and the other side is nice and sunny so she can choose where she wants to lay throughout the day
It depends on the location where you live, if that's fine or not. And your dog has a dog house, the lab has literally only the yard.
They should leave the outside dog a kiddie pool too, to cool off in!
Megan kept saying "okeh" in the same voicw and it gave me anxiety .-.
The doggy day care is soo cute! Now I wanna bring my dog there and my dog can have fun with other dogs!
For anybody wondering, this episode is in season 1, "The Chief of Jealousy"...
Love and blessings from India Victoria .... After seeing ur vedios my dog is well behaved and after seeing vedios I understood my dog is going through anxiety as we lost one more pet so we take care of him well now
Jack Russells are the BEST!
Give that dog a pool too... That's a pretty simple answer as well as the house.
Love the doggie daycare, look at the forecast and choose the hottest, coldest and rainiest days. I cannot believe they had to have Victoria tell them he needed a shelter. Ugh
I love watching this
I would totally get a kiddy pool and a pump to keep the water flowing.
I want to see the full episode so much! 😂
Awww poor baby 😢
Literally when after any time victora talks you just hear megan saying ok ok ok... ok...ok...ok...ok😂😂
No one:
Wife whenever Victoria is giving directions:
Ok. Ok. Ok. Ok. Ok. Ok
Sam is going to love that sandbox - and so will every cat in the neighborhood.
There's not sand in it.
Best dogs❤Such a versatile breed and awsome farmdogs🙏
I need to change careers asap and open my own doggie daycare!
Shes so cute
I am Sydney in dog form. My life in a nutshell.
Victoria is the goddess of dogs
It would still be hot in a shelter but its a tad better.... thank god for the doggy day-care! Also, Dog parks are free!!
Love these videos I have an amazing cavapoo Charlie
I hope he's a rescue and you didn't support any reproduction of a mix breed with one of the unhealthiest breeds that are out there.
Probably one of the most normal owners in this Chanel
Poor Sidney and poor Sam
I love giving my boy massages on his chest and tummy he nearly falls asleep 🥰
Sydney sounds like me. I have anxiety so my body is always stressed and anxious.
Poor Sam, and Sydney
I like this show !! I see every video
So pure my heart is melting💞💞
Who the hell gets a pet without thinking about the pet they already own. I feel bad for both of them.
Poor little dog. It's terrible being stress, instead of feeling bouts of stress.
Wait, if she’s concerned about him being in the heat outside that shade thing is great but what about if there is a torrential downpour with high winds? That thing offers no protection from the elements really JMO
Presumably, they have access to weather forecasts and can plan ahead.
Totally sad when getting dogs but don't have same treatment
My Doberman would laugh :D
Its good they have refrigerator
The dogs are very cute 😱😱😱😱
