If they are advertising themselves as Trump supporters, no. I don’t inquire about people’s politics, but if it’s in my face it’s a turn off. I feel the same way about Christian owned businesses who shove that in your face, too. If I see a fish sticker I move on to a different place.
THIS. There's an account on here who runs a greenhouse in a pretty sustainable way in fairly extreme conditions - I thought he was permaculture - & he mentioned maybe doing on-site tours for those who want to learn more. He's not that far from me, & I do want to learn. But I can't get 5' into one of his videos without knowing EXACTLY what his politics are and I'd rather scrape my nails down a chalkboard for an hour than be stuck in a room with him. (I don't watch him at all anymore.) We've all got our limits - & I think he's saying pretty clearly that dealing with ME would be beyond HIS, so it works out all 'round. 🤣
I even asked for a therapist who was confirmed anti-Trump. They were shocked that I wanted that requirement. I told them my mental health would be better off talking in my own personal support group than be vulnerable with someone who buy into the amoral ideas espoused by Trump.
I think that is a completely reasonable thing to ask in a therapist. That any therapist (I'm a psychologist) would support Trump, except for red-pilled people (there is a man who clearly is conservative on YT who pushes a lot of not so we'll disguised misogyny. When a therapist talks about hypergamy, you know you have a misogynist and likely narcissist too. I won't be seen by a male gynecologist. I simply don't want a person to ho doesn't have my equipment to examine mine. Men prefer male physicians when having a prostate exam, there is no problem with that.
Nope. Switched veterinarians when they had Trump memorabilia on their counter and won't set foot in any business that had signs displayed. I live in a rural area and am very isolated, but that's preferable to breaking bread with the enemy. I did all handmade Christmas gifts this year with the few people left in my life and am done with supporting anyone financially or emotionally who doesn't support human rights.
Ew. My wife manages a hospital and proudly displays the corporate annual pride stuff year round. At her old hospital the signs, banner even the blow up Xmas pride daschound were vandalized regularly and replaced because screw them. If a pride banner makes you uncomfortable, the problem is you lol Her new hospital would probably be vandalized by people adding pride flags lol Deep Seattle office now. Her office is very diverse. I heard she might hire a cis male soon lol
If someone votes against my well-being, I take that to mean they don't care about what happens to me. And if they don't care what happens to me, they clearly don't need my business.
It’s okay to feel that way, and you don’t have to engage with them at all. I just ask that we avoid vilifying those who choose to. They’re doing the work to bridge divides that can benefit all of us.
Do you know who your doctor, dentist, hospital staff, mechanic, grocery store management, farms that that grocery store buys from, all the stores you buy from locally or online, etc all voted for? You have a choice to vote, and associate with whomever you please, but you do not know who the companies or individual of the majority of your purchases and interactions were voting for.
I'm an Australian and have my own business. I've cancelled orders from fellow small operators in the states that were making pro Trump/Elon statements on their Twitter business accounts.
For years I have refused to eat at chick-til-a and hobby lobby. If the establishment seems to have Fox News on the TV, I will not return even if the food was delicious. If I know they are right wing conservative, I am not spending my money on anything they have.
Where I'm at, I see business owners proudly put up signs that say "this is Trump country," etc. NO. I won't shop or even walk into a business with that much arrogance and attitude. I'm so tired of the stupidity in this country.
If they have pro Trump signs hanging in their business, I will go elsewhere. If I know from personal interactions that they are a Trump voter, I will go elsewhere. If I have an option between a business that I know from personal interactions has pro democracy owners vs. a business that I suspect is owned by a Trump supporter, I will go to the pro democracy one. I don't want to spend my money in a place where it could end up going to Trump in a donation or towards buying one of his products. That's what works for me.
@ParkrosePermaculture I live in a small ruby red town in Wisconsin, and there are a couple of supper clubs that have Trump signs in the bar. Also a bowling alley/pizza parlor where the owner wears Trump shirts while working. Hard pass on those businesses.
To answer the title question: No. Victims don't have a responsibility to reach out or initiate peace with the people who have or voted to have them harmed.
I worked at our local hardware store prior to 2016. When the owners started supporting trump i was lucky enough that i could choose to quit. I have not been into their store sincr then and i will not go back. That means having to drive 45 min instead of 20 to get to another store. I live in a heavily trump rural county and once i find out people are magats i have nothing to do with them. I would rather be alone then friendly with people that voted for trump.
So I'm going to Zero in on what you said at the end: if someone is paying their employees a fair living wage and is concerned about environmental ethics you should absolutely support them...but chances are they're not Trumpers if that's their business model. We have SHIT TONS of small business owners in Maine that are definitely Trumpers and they're CONSTANTLY complaining about how "nobody wants to work anymore". When really it's nobody wants to work for the slave wages they're offering. Just Vet your local Businesses as closely as you would a national chain. Don't give your money to someone paying slave wages just because they're a "Small business".
What would you consider to be slave wages? I mean when I was a teenager minimum wage was $7 per hour. Now it's like $15 per hour here in Maine... That is more then a 100% increase since the early 2000s.
@@UnityMMODevelopersYou notice that the minimum wage has gone up - but what about the cost of living? &, Historically, the minimum wage was still a LIVING wage - it had already slid considerably from that by the early 00's. So if it that doubling DID more than compensate for inflation - it still wasn't bringing it back to where it properly belongs.
@@UnityMMODevelopers it's $13.50 currently. Anyone paying you minimum wage is just saying they'd pay you less if they could. The avg one bdrm apt in central Maine is $1k/month: that's about half of a full time job at minimum wage. It's even more in southern Maine: my kids paying $1600/month. So it depends on where you live.
No, absolutely not. I dropped AT&T as my phone service because of their right-wing politics. I will not spend a nickel in the state of Florida, again. My spouse changed dentists because of their openly promoting Republican politics. No one who sees the looming threat of fascism should even think of ever buying a Tesla.
Yep local, is good and best choice… but if I saw a trump hat slogan or flags, I’d keep going and buy elsewhere even if it’s not quite what I want… I have that choice.. I’m lucky… as long as they aren’t the overt, I’d be nice polite and keep to the food or details and not go anywhere near politics… but if it’s in my face, I’ll choose to go elsewhere
If businesses are smart, they keep politics and religion out of their business. I support a number of local businesses in our area (we're pretty rural and have a small town close by, so I know there are a lot of dumpy supporters around) and have zero idea what their politics are. If see them displaying dumpy BS, I'm gone and will find another business to give my money to. So far none have.
Have totally changed my shopping habits! Cutting up my TJ Maxx,Marshall’s, Home Goods, Sierra card. No more Walmart, stocking up on canned foods. Really not doing much for Christmas, luckily bad weather was a good excuse to not travel to Republican relative territory.
Me too! I have a long list and some will hurt, but I will not be spending my money there. I also plan on emailing them to let them know why they are losing customers.
Unfortunately, I live in relatively remote rural Southern Appalachia, avoiding doing business with trumorons is next to impossible. I’m part of multiple vulnerable groups so I already hide/isolate. I do as little business as possible. I’ve radically cut back on consumerism in general.
I hear you. I live in a deep red state. We wouldn't eat if I avoided all the trumpers businesses. I can choose Lowe's and Costco over HomeDepot and Kohls. I have that. My answer is to buy less and make every purchase more mindful.
Lots of Canadians aren't going to Florida this winter. We don't want to do business with a Trumper state. The usual Florida weirdness wasn't a deal-breaker, but enough is enough.
Random conversations with acquaintances here in Australia say they are going to travel to the states in the next 4 years. We still have problems with trumpism here though .... A lot of young men here are listening to trumping from the tech bro culture. These vibrant young men thinking this old faker is some kinda person to get things done .... What a tragedy.
@@ParkrosePermaculture I think clever Trumpers will abandon the MAGA hats, etc. pretty quickly when the Cheeto does start doing what he is promising and the impact starts to be felt. The question is do you "forget" these people's former political associations or remember it and keep avoiding them?
Absolutely not. I've left a hair salon and a dental office. There are stores I will never enter. My MAGA relatives will not talk to me, although one has a trans child--what do they say to her?
I'm of the opinion that if a store owner makes it known they're drumpf supporters, they want buyers of their products and or services to be like them. They're too stupid to realize the money is green and that's all that matters when it changes hands! If there was ever a place where politics shouldn't be known or discussed, it's in matters of business because there are lots of people like me with a similar opinion.
Im a farmer and substitute teacher and I vote Democrat. I still try to work with the few republicans that are anti Trumpers. I feel so many people in rural America are ignored and it sets everything up for Trump and the Republican party to establish a base there.
We need a list of such businesses. I stopped my Amazon membership, cable tv, stopped HD years ago and also Walmart. Who’ s next? I leave in Oregon , does anyone have a list of local businesses in Oregon? And NO I do not support local businesses who support trump.
Id rather go without than give my money to either, personally. These people around me beat up lgbt people, including myself. Id rather be hungry. I'm not going to support in any way people who are racist and hateful. Rewarding them with business is not something im willing to do. I go to aldi, or fresh thyme and i travel and extra hour to do so.
I don't think that you made a disastrous choice, but I would argue against the efficiency of reaching out to people who have openly taken a stand for MAGA. I live in NY. I do have the luxury of avoiding anyone who is blatantly pro-MAGA, and I do avoid them, and their businesses. I have not found it productive to engage with them, and I am not hostile. At fifty five years of age, I believe that people learn best through failure, and not through rational discussion. I respect your dedication to your point of view though. As you said, this is very nuanced. I just had hip replacement surgery a few days ago. I did not ask my surgeon, or the rest of the medical staff if they were pro-MAGA. However, if I knew ahead a time that my surgeon was because he flaunted a picture/merch, or mentioned it, I wouldn't have used him. I'm sure that some could argue that if I believe so strongly in my views that I should've asked, but I think it's good enough that someone doesn't broadcast their fealty.
You have intelligent children. From what you said, your child made you stop and think about something in a way that you might not have… exceptional beginning.
We pick our battles according to ability and privilege. I have some privilege but my bandwidth is freaking low. I don't interact any more than i need to. If i lived somewhere majorly red, i would try so hard to GTFO. I wish the best to those who can't leave.
Yup, same. I couldn't care less if it's a little old man and some lamb, he's voting against his own interests, he's not giving a flyin' f about anyone but himself. If you have kids who are trans, now they're wondering why you're supporting a trumper.
No. I was considering SunRun for solar panels, but it is owned by Tesla/Musk. So nope. A small business though might be okay as long as they were okay with me being a never trumper.
Consider long and hard. I bought solar panels last year from a company that went under the name SunPower. They just went out of business. I paid out of pocket. When taking into account rebates and refunds, it will take around twenty years before I get my money back through savings. Here's the messed up part. Why did I do it? Considering the rising cost of energy, I decided that I'll make my money back faster by investing in them. Despite the considerable investment, I'm still not sold that this was the ethical route with regard to the environment, but that's a different conversation.
@@chrisdonovan8795You are correct about the time it takes to make up for the expense. I’m an environmentalist, but I just purchased my post-divorce home and at the age of 64, I’ve decided it is not worth for me to make such an investment.
I got Sunrun panels on my roof in 2016. They are not Tesla panels and Tesla does not own Sunrun. Sunrun uses panels from different manufacturers. I asked about Tesla panels when they put the panels on my house and was told Tesla panels were prone to starting fires and they didn't use them. Now Sunrun and Tesla are doing a pilot program involving Tesla panels and batteries.
@@annerose7571 I purchased from SunPower and got a battery back up system. When I asked about replacements, they said that Tesla was an option, but Hell, no. Good luck to everyone on avoiding Tesla products in the future. I have a feeling the game is going to be fixed.
With small businesses, I believe that it's also important to remember that the politics of one person may not be the politics of all who are involved. Our family business is owned by 3 of us and we cover the spectrum from center right to progressive among the owners (broader within the company as a whole). Because of the kind of work we do, which often requires us to work with people running for office from all parties, we generally keep a habit of not discussing politics with clients. (We have figured out ways to let the people we support know that we do as well as ways to do good for the community to balance the others.) When you demonstrate that you have an outstretched hand through your support of local businesses, you may be demonstrating and modeling for someone else that may be watching, like an owner’s teen child helping after school. There are certainly businesses that will make their views a part of doing business with them that it may be best to avoid if possible. However, building that relationship with the others opens the door that could enable them to listen and see you as neighbor/ community member. It's harder to close a divide if you keep building a wall.
@davidgray1515 I'm not sure how you arrived at that given that I specifically did not describe our business for privacy, but suffice to say that, were that the case, we would not be entering our 45th year nor would our work be visible in every part of our region. From your response, it seems as if you are not a very pleasant person to be around and are too quick to pass judgments before having enough information to do so. You had an opportunity to ask questions or engage positively. Instead, you opted to add more negativity into the world. I genuinely hope you are able to find a more positive way to move forward into the new year.
Small businesses have long indicated their religious affiliation, usually in a unobtrusive secret handshake sort of way. I take those on a case by case basis. The promoting of political parties or ideals in your business seems to be a more recent development with the advent of the astro-turfed "Tea Party." Before that, businesses were in business to do business and at least maintained a surface neutrality. Why go out of your way to alienate potential customers? So yes, if you're going to rub your beliefs in my face, that I don't agree with. You'll not get my business unless I have no choice, and then you won't get a penny more than I absolutely have to spend. It's a really bad business model.
I believe it was n one of your videos that you read a LONG list of companies who donated to Trumpy. I wrote down their names and am trying to boycott them. Thank goodness, I couldn't afford Amazon or Walmart anyway. It's hard but I'm trying. Regarding business owners who are Trumpy supporters, I will avoid them like the plague.
I have a list from 2016, of locally owned small and medium businesses and the list has only grown. I share them with like-minded friends and we don't shop there.
I worked as a planner for a big, public agency. People with a political agenda were hard to work with. I’ve become anti political, preferring to focus on solving individual problems. What has worked and what has or worked in the past? What does the science say? What do the subject matter experts say? Do you need to collect more data to inform a final decision? What makes more financial sense? What outcome is best for the most people?
I have been job hunting for way too long. The first and only job offer I got I turned down because my would be boss was wearing a big plastic trump bracelet.
For me it comes to value matching with my actions. It's about deciding where i spend my money. We can be in conversation to help them change - if they want to - but if they seek to do harm to me, then i can not support them with my money.
If this farmer was ethical in his raising of animals and the way he treats employees I see no problem with it. If it’s a business who would refuse certain people then no absolutely not.
I unsubbed a YTer after he started posting AI generated songs praising the visionary genius of Musk, followed by more songs praising his VPs. TBH, it was a little scary
I will always try to support small, local businesses and farmers over corporations. I've actually been thinking about this issue a lot this week. FAFO is going to bite them in the ass, and really, that's probably the only way they will learn. But when Trump's shit show kicks in and all of us start to struggle, THAT's when we need to not rub their noses in it and offer them the opportunity to join us in overthrowing him. Look at how it didn't matter what side people were on--Luigi was a hero because all of us are fed up with health insurance BS. We need to find those issues to unite on because I really do believe we all want the same things--good education, free/affordable health care, clean water and air, good jobs and financial security, etc... Lots of MAGA and a lot of Independents loved Bernie because he spoke to them about the issues they care about. Let's reframe this and look at it from the perspective of class, not politics. If we can unite the working class against the common enemy--capitalism and oligarchs--we could ignite a movement that might actually change things. If we continue to act like the elites they don't relate to we won't be able to reach them. And I hate to say it, but we need them to join us.
And yet, it’s very difficult to avoid that company if you are a DIYer like me. The other big boxes also supported rump i; one way or another, so it’s become a matter of clenching my teeth and buying whatever I need to complete my projects.
In the UK around the time of the brexit vote, Tim Martin the owner of the Wetherspoons pub chain was heavily pushing leaving the EU in his companies "magazines" in the chain. I stopped going there and when my mother would ask why I refused to go there. She said that Martin had the freedom to voice his political opinions. Which he does, but my mother did not like my reply of "Do I not have the right to decide where I spend my money?" There was a local brewery which invited the Tory Prime Minister David Cameron for a visit the day after Cameron won the 2015 General Election. A nearby brewery invited the then Tory PM Rishi Sunak during 2024's General Election campaign. I will never buy ANY of their products again. The businesses say that they are open to all sides of politics. Yet their high profile visits are with right wing politicians who do their damnedest to harm society with their right wing bullshit.
Agreed. Perfection is the enemy of progress. I moved from essentially Los Angeles to rural Tx in recent years and yeah, I’d be totally isolated if I was 100% no contact from any person or business with Trump association so it’s degrees. If I don’t shop locally then my choice is Amazon…nope. A small local business who voted for Trump instead of say Walmart that donated over $80k to Trump sure. But if I HAD a choice between a known Trump supporter and a known non-trumper the no-trumper would get my business but realistically I have to shop somewhere and it’s going to be the best of bad choices.
I live in rural Scotland right now, and I have been trying to think of ways to boycott USA products and services altogether. I already boycott house heating because of price gouging, and just recently I heard a rumour that Mr Trump would be forcing the UK into purchasing US gas and oil. Check me out: I have preemptively boycotted him 🤣
@destroyraiden I got a pay as you go meter installed and I only put in a set amount. I have three hot water bottles and underfloor heating in the bathroom so I can keep clothes from getting damp. I started wild swimming last summer to assist with acclimation, and I don't sit about much. And yes: lots of layers 😊
No. If I don't know, I now ask when my proposed purchases are on the counter if they support trmp. All yes responses, I walk away and leave their lost revenue at the counter so they know how much cheeto costs them in the real world.
I needed a plumber, so I contacted a company to scheduled an appointment. I asked if it was possible to have a non-Trumper, and the receptionist was shocked and belligerent. “We don’t do that! We don’t know about people’s political views! How would we even know how our employees voted?” I agreed with her (I’m not insane) and just reiterated if it was possible. She simply said no. I then told her that I’d use a different company. She snidely said “Good luck…” I called another company and was transferred to the owner who said that he didn’t vote for Trump, and that he could do the job. Who knows if he was lying to get the job, or not. But, if that’s the case, then at least he is the one scared of being himself instead of minorities and vulnerable communities. I’d rather a Trumper have fear of losing business than innocent, hardworking, empathetic people have fear of a tyrant. The funny thing is that later I received a call from the owner of the first company who said that he could do the job because he didn’t vote for Trump. I congratulated him, but told him that I had found another plumber. Again, maybe these people are lying so as not to lose work, but maybe they’ll think of the consequences next time and become better people. Or, maybe they’ll have to hide who they truly are… and, that’s fine too…
Yes, spending money on local Trump supporting farmers is better than spending money on large corporations that donate to MAGA. However, spending money on anyone who supports MAGA, is a mistake. There is absolutely no way I would spend even a single penny money on such people.
Not just Trump but Musk as well we need now to support small business more than ever before. We need to take back control of our lives and stop letting the billionaires rule us, Stop buying from Amazon and buy from etsy
I have no choice other than buying my horse feed from Trumpers. They have a monopoly in my area of the country. But when I have a choice, no. I live in MO.💙
My neighbors lawn guy has a Trump sticker on his work truck. I wont let him park it in front of my house, much less hire him to work for me. Business 101 says never ever put political stuff anywhere near your business. Its just stupid.
Right after the election I wanted to boycott MAGA owned businesses. Unfortunely, my plumber, painter, electrician and contractor are all trump supporters, not overt or in your face. So sad, but I need these people who I have knows for years. I live in a rural area.
Not even if u paid me. Actually will be boycotting any purchases from US companies as much as I can and not visiting the U.S. if he imposes tariffs on Canada and continues to disrespect us 🇨🇦
My advice to small businesses is, "Don't make your politics my business!". My primary decisions about being a customer are: how I'm treated, how is the pricing, how is the return policies, how ethical are your suppliers/employees, etc. That said, if businesses take it upon themselves to make their politics known to me, we are now in a different territory. Would that be a sole criterion for withholding by business with them? Well, it depends. I was not the one who chose to declare political opposition as, "enemies within" while declaring to be "a Patriot". If you, as a business owner, feel that injecting your politics into your business transactions is that important to take that unnecessary risk, then I cannot guarantee my reaction. Like anyone, I reserve the right to make choices based on any reasoning I choose, so it is then up to you if me knowing your politics is worth that risk.
Its not always possible to know if they a business is MAGA owned. I would prefer not to give them my money, However its not nessassary that simple/easy
Thank you for this. You discussed many of the things that I am grappling with and have been troubling me a lot! These discussions really help me untied these knots. But the knots keep coming back lol. Thanks again!
I would love go hear your opinion or other stories about Democrats that live and operate a business in a res state. We just cant leave yet, it would ruin our company and now that they are talking about changing VA benefits we just can move yet. I know for us here we are converting our backyard into a food supplying yard and ensuring we have as much of a buffer to the future crap show .
There is an asphalt pa ing company near my home that is owned by Trumpers since 2016. Giant Trump sign the entire time. I drove by a house with a sing from that company - they had apparently had their driveway paved by them. It sickens me. I will ever use them and will always recommend against them. Because they didn’t just vote for them or even just fly a flag during election season. Their giant Trump sign has been up for over years now. Gross. But I have the options should I deal use to asphalt my driveway. I think in a small local market with limited choices for the market, we have to make more nuanced selections.
I have a local store that imports food items from Italy. After traveling to and eating in Italy recently I learned first hand how their food is much higher quality than ours, so when I returned I started shopping there. Later a friend told me the owners are big Trump supporters and give tons of $$ to the Cheeto. So instead of just believing the skuttlebutt, I went in and asked the woman at the counter who has checked me out a few times. I said that I heard they support Trump and give money to Trump and is this true. She smirked at me and snidely said YES! I just said, "Too bad!" and turned on my heel and walked out. I will never shop there again and found a small importer online with better pricing :)
I live in a very small, red town with very limited options. There were a few businesses that were flying Dump flags around the election and it made it very clear what places I would NEVER do business with. There are also places that fly those "blue lives matter flags" and same thing. I would rather go without then give money to such blatant displays of hatred, ignorance, racism and bigotry.
Nope!!! I will not shop with trumpers. That is why I made a LONG list of big box places and small businesses that PROUDLY donated to trump, have/had flags, shirts, ect. to NOT shop at for me and my family. Let them make their money off the people they voted for, not against.
I have several coworkers that are Trump supporters, and we mostly keep quiet about politics at work by directive from above. I also sing at a small local club that is owned by Trump supporters. They don't go out of their way to advertise that, but it was clear during T's first term. Most of the musicians are very NOT Trump supporters, a few are. It feels awkward because most of them seem like good folks otherwise, and so we generally avoid politics. At this point we keep associating and going to the club because that's our "circle". I've also seen Trump supporters realizing that they've been played, so I hold out hope. Same for family members.
I live in a relatively red area so I know that a lot of the local businesses are owned and run by the people who voted for the fascist felon. However, some of them don't shove it in your face, and of course, some do. There's a auto repair place that the owner is definitely in the cult, he has signs and window stickers, had a big cult flag in front of his business...I definitely will never do business there. Other places that have never advertised their politics, I'll give them the benefit of not presuming their politics, and if I have reason to, I'll do business there. If they show me that they're in the cult, then I'm done with them.
I love shoping locally, small business, mom&pop shops, etc. However, there is a small family owned feed store that is MAGA crazy so I only go there if I have to! Keep in mind as a farmer, I'm at a feed store A LOT & to avoid them it's a 20 mile drive into town. So ya, I definitely go out of my way to boycott those kind of establishments. Politics is so toxic these days, I just go where it's about the product & services not what side of the aisle you're on!!
If I could find a way of identifying all Trumper owned businesses, and if I could find non-Trumper owned substitutes I would definitely do that. But right now I have no idea. Like for instance, the supermarkets and stuff I like shopping at Publix and it’s nearby the house. I do shop at Aldi’s and other stores too, but I don’t really want to go to any Trumper owned businesses. I wanted to buy spices at Penzeys, but kind of expensive and they don’t have very much of a choice.
No. It's bad enough we have Hobby Lobby and Walmart, Costco--all big supporters of fascism and Rs where I live. I try to buy elsewhere and avoid these businesses at all cost. It amazes me how Americans are so status-connected to Costco, like it makes them look more important. Very immature materialististic mentality, like teenagers have to some school clique. Bizarre.
Do you think there's a difference between buying from a mega corporation that supports fascism and buying from a small family owned business where the farmer or mechanic may have voted for Trump?
@andreah6379 I looked up Costco and they spent nothing on lobbying. The donations to political candidates were all by individuals, not the organization, and more money went to Kamala than to Trump. Also looks like a lot went to Democrats down ballot.
@@bevtaylor5466I heard they donated to Rethuglicons on a video called Rational Boomer, video made 12/20,& it was the guest hostess, Kirsten that mentioned this. Even that aside, I would bet they aren't neutral, politically.
If possible no i do not. But in my rural area Home Depot is the only hardware/wood store for 30-60 miles. Some of us have no choice. But i dont stop at any yard sale with any trump signs. I do not shop at small lical independent stores that support his ideas.
I wholeheartedly agree with so much of what you say. During Cheetos first reign of terror I threw myself into a local project to build a cooperative market in our rural community. I had a beautiful vision of this bringing our community together. It did not. The farmers have labeled the store that we worked so hard to build, granola. And so we have very little fresh local produce. So disappointing. Makes me not want to do anything with people who harbor so much animosity.
If they are advertising themselves as Trump supporters, no. I don’t inquire about people’s politics, but if it’s in my face it’s a turn off. I feel the same way about Christian owned businesses who shove that in your face, too. If I see a fish sticker I move on to a different place.

What is a "fish sticker"? Is that a regional church thing?
@@annmarieknapp Thank you for this.
Same here! 👍
If someone votes against my well-being, I take that to mean they don't care about what happens to me. And if they don't care what happens to me, they clearly don't need my business.
And you don’t have to care about them!
That part.
It’s okay to feel that way, and you don’t have to engage with them at all. I just ask that we avoid vilifying those who choose to. They’re doing the work to bridge divides that can benefit all of us.
@ so? You’re all
Good with enabling them? Yeah okay. No!

For years I have refused to eat at chick-til-a and hobby lobby. If the establishment seems to have Fox News on the TV, I will not return even if the food was delicious. If I know they are right wing conservative, I am not spending my money on anything they have.

If I walk into a doctors office or any business and they have Fox News that’s the last time I’ll ever be in there
Same. Same.
Same with us
Where I'm at, I see business owners proudly put up signs that say "this is Trump country," etc. NO. I won't shop or even walk into a business with that much arrogance and attitude. I'm so tired of the stupidity in this country.
I'm currently working on trimming my contacts for my own safety and sanity.
I’ve known several and once I was aware that they supported trump I never returned to their business/restaurant.
Exactly.
Same. A new coffee shop opened within walking distance of my house and once I saw their wifi password was a Trumper phrase, I never went back.
I am doing the same. If I find they are Trump supporters I no longer frequent their business.
Yeah I don't think I can shop at a business which proudly displays Trump/maga paraphernalia.
Nope! Not if I can help it.
You bring up some really good points here.
@@UnityMMODeveloperswhy are you trying to derail the convo? 0/10 bait
Trying hard to not give my money to any trump business. My first response is no.
I think this is where I'm at, too
If businesses are smart, they keep politics and religion out of their business.
What about Amazon?
Me too! I have a long list and some will hurt, but I will not be spending my money there. I also plan on emailing them to let them know why they are losing customers.
I recommend stepping away from "traditional" holiday dinners, too. You can accomplish a lot with beans and rice, or pasta.
I just closed my tjmaxx card. That was my store, but no more. Now, I'm saving so much money.

I'm of the opinion that if a store owner makes it known they're drumpf supporters, they want buyers of their products and or services to be like them. They're too stupid to realize the money is green and that's all that matters when it changes hands!

From your business description it doesnt seem you do any work or provide anyhing of value to society.
The promoting of political parties or ideals in your business seems to be a more recent development with the advent of the astro-turfed "Tea Party."
Before that, businesses were in business to do business and at least maintained a surface neutrality. Why go out of your way to alienate potential customers?
So yes, if you're going to rub your beliefs in my face, that I don't agree with. You'll not get my business unless I have no choice, and then you won't get a penny more than I absolutely have to spend. It's a really bad business model.
I try to avoid them if I can 👍

I live in Alabama so I have no choice but to interact with these people, but I don’t have to tell any of them that I know CPR if you know what I mean.

They won't learn even when they suffer consequences from it. They will rationalize it away, and blame "libs' or whoever else.
Well said, thank you.
Reframe it as what it really is: a class war, the 2nd Gilded Age vs blue vs red.
Home Depot has no problem being vocal about their trumpiness

Hell nah. Next question.
I live in rural Scotland right now, and I have been trying to think of ways to boycott USA products and services altogether.

No . I'm boycotting several business right now.
What are some trumpet-owned businesses?

No! How do we find out if they are?
The answer is NO
I live in a relatively red area so I know that a lot of the local businesses are owned and run by the people who voted for the fascist felon.
I bought new windows for my house and told the company they *better* not send any MAGA installers to my house or I’d take my business elsewhere 😳😂
@@ParkrosePermacultureNo. The result is the same, isn't it?
If possible no i do not.
But in my rural area Home Depot is the only hardware/wood store for 30-60 miles.
Some of us have no choice.
But i dont stop at any yard sale with any trump signs. I do not shop at small lical independent stores that support his ideas.
Same!
Funny how their feelings ❄️, entitlement & cancel culture doesn't weigh the same...
No. The answer to your question is "No. I would not hand my money to a Trumper."
Best,
JJ
Absolutely NOT!!
If I lived in a rural area, I’d have to move rather than associate
