All jokes aside... Gender isn't an "Identity". Gender has always meant biological sex. And there's only 2. Our "gender" roles were determined by which sex is stronger. If women had been stronger, our roles would be "reversed". (it's all relative) If there's an alternative universe and they came here, just because they "identify" with the men here, doesn't mean they gotta change sex. Just like if we went to their universe and identified with the women, we wouldn't have to change sex either. We are who we are inside, not for what's outside. Our personality has nothing to do with our sex. It's all society and culture. Clothing isn't even gendered, but we associate certain types of clothing with either sex. So when a kid wears opposite clothing, there's literally nothing to it. You can't say "oh, i guess they're this gender then" because that's just putting your own rules of what a gender is "supposed" to wear.

@@MS-sv1tr calling it a "delusion" is short sighted. i'm friends with trans women in real life and they're just normal people. unless you think of being trans as an inherent delusion, there's nothing delusional about them at all. and i knew some of them before they transitioned, they were far more shy and depressed, feminine but not comfortable expressing it, until they transitioned and became more comfortable being themselves - beyond just gender presentation and the effects of hormones, i mean less reserved and closed off from everyone. seeing that it becomes clear that they were meant to live as trans women. their experiences are not the same as biological womens' obviously, but acting as if their experiences are the same as a normal man's even pre-transition is just completely untrue when you've seen how they were like. they're wired to be closer to a woman than a man, so living as a man for them is just playing a role they were miscast as. so the fact that they're not mentally male is just as relevant to them being trans women as the fact that they aren't biologically female. but after years of hormones and living in the social role of a woman, they're far too similar to a biological woman both in appearance and behavior to act like they're "really a man" and not look, well, delusional.
@@MS-sv1tr and calling it "du jour" is also short sighted. transgender healthcare has been a field of research for a full century. look up christine jorgensen, the first american to get transgender surgery. that was in 1952, and it made the headlines. of course the media took a bit of intrigue into her story, but if you look up the newspapers from then youll notice they used "she" for her long before any discourse around pronouns were a thing. i guess before that discourse, it just made more sense to call someone who looks like any other woman "she". with this being the first time anyone in America would have heard of someone transitioning it was naturally picked up by the media. but what's notable is that the media never portrayed this as some sort of degeneracy or delusion that must be stopped, or branded her as an inherent deviant or danger like right wing media outlets do constantly now. their moral panic of media and political obsession over demonizing trans people, constantly trying to paint them all as dangerous, deviant, and evil, is a more recent development than that. so really, wouldn't *that* be the collective delusion du jour?

Based hat.
Whats the problem? Honesty?
People were upset that the author of their favorite childhood books wasn't participating in the collective delusion du jour.
