Fixing up a Viking Pop up Camper

- Found this cute little Viking PopUp camper on Facebook marketplace towards the end of summer. Too cheap to pass up, with clean title and in dire need of love. We spent about two weeks getting it ready for the first outing and while it’s still not even close to being done, it’s been camping numerous times so far! We love it’s compact size and easy tow. It’s lightweight and the jeep and the escape can tow it easily. The biggest concern is finding appropriate sized mattresses for the beds , and then addressing the low ride height. Found your video searching for improvements other people have made to their old vikings! I HIGHLY and URGENTLY suggest that you get bracers to support the metal beams on the outside. As you discovered, those cables are the only thing that will pop up the top, and unfortunately those cables are the only thing keeping that roof from falling. If those cables break, and youre inside...its game over. Lots of people have died from those cables failing

I've had two solid walled ones a rapido comfortmatic & currently an esteril 11 ft (80's) both are great for weekends & car show attendance.

Nice work. That wood flooring is a major improvement. This almost reminds me of the van conversion videos. Guys take everything from Sienna/Odyssey minivans all the way up to Ford/Chevy cargo vans and make campers out of them. It’s amazing what some of those guys can do with a minivan.

I hope to some day own one myself they just don't come up for sale in my neck of woods often and when they do they are quite expensive. Just bought a truck camper slide-in Viking sp080 (same logo - turns out after downloading the wrong manual - other people have used the name... ). Anybody know who actually made these in 1993? I'm guessing mine was *very* similar to this one, in its youth.
