This is totally how dnd works. Especially the cleric not being able to find a spell
See this is why whenever I play a cleric I made a spell list and put page #s down like a referance guid. Never had a problem keeping track of my thousands of spells. But dnd beyond is still way way faster.
I’m the cleric in my party and a spend half the game trying to find my cure light wounds spell.
This is the best way HR could have done this ad. Everything just worked together perfectly.

Only thing about D&D Beyond I didn't like was you would have to buy all the books again, I don't know why they don't do it as a flexible subscription, depending what books you wanted access to, it would be much better.
It's due to the way the licensing works. Remember D&D Beyond isn't an official WoTC thing. It's owned by Fandom. So if you buy a book, you're buying from WOTC, but if you on D&D Beyond you're buying from Fandom. It's like buying a book on Kindle and then going into a book store and asking them to give you a free copy cos you already own it. Different companies providing same material. Also, no way for them to verify older purchases. How do you prove YOU bought the PHB you have and you're not just using your friends copy? No serial numbers or codes for older books, and would need a pretty epic deal with WOTC to do that for future books.
Have seen them start to include coupons for heavily discounted versions of the D&D Beyond version with new releases though which I think is good. I've said before I'd like to see more included with the Subscription, and I do think D&DBeyond is best for new D&D players.
