Beautiful and fascinating place! I visited with my fiancee, who spent her childhood summers in Medullin. We visited her aunt there and planned a lovely road trip to Pula, Rovinj, Motovun, and Groznjan. Wine, olive oils, truffles, figs, beauty, history, and majesty; that's the best way I could describe my experience! We plan to visit Hum and a few other places next year when we return. Thank you for this wonderful summary of this magical place!! It truly is magnificent!

@@ExploreCroatia thanks for the response; love the interaction! I'm from the USA. My fiancee is from Slovenia, but her late father grew up in Medullin. His late father was an architect and guitarist. His sister is a pianist, poet, and artist. I think it was her great uncle who brought radio to Rijeka after WW2. I love visiting with her and look forward to spending more time there over the years!

Are you sure? Google maps says Croatia
The most important thing about Istra is that it’s one of the multicultural nationalist-free areas, where Yugoslavia is still alive. Istra strictly opposed the breaking up of the country in 1990’s and after that banned the Croatian nationalists from public exposure. That’s why it is now a unique wonder land that keeps to the tradition of brotherhood and unity of the South Slavs.

the "multicultural" aspect in fact come in by the authochtone Italien population - and the old close links to the German lands of Austria - nothing to do with "south-Slav" nationalism...
