    Thanks for a great guide!
    Is it possible to use audio in HD without other hardware than the PC Wing?

    • @visualmash4311
      @visualmash4311  9 лет назад

      Hi Niklas, thanks :)
      Yes you can, in fact you don't even need the PC wing plugged in :)
      You will need to make sure your Audio device is selected in MagicHD.
      When the MagicHD output window is NOT full screen (if it is full screen hit F11) you should see a menu bar at the top. Under the "Media" tab there should be the option "Audio Devices" here you can select your sound card.
      On MagicQ select your MagicHD fixture/head.
      Select the output layer, then select intensity [INT] - You should see a control for "Volume" make sure this is turned up, probably to quite a high value maybe even full (255).
      Each Layer also has an "Audio Gain" under intensity. This needs to be turned up too, but not to high as your audio will sound distorted. If I remember right around 15 was good but the depends on the audio on the video clip so you will need to adjust to what's good for your video clip.
      As a side note,
      If you "Locate" the MagicHD layer the default for audio controls is all turned down (0) I assume this is so you don't jump out your skin when hooked up to a large sound system and hit "Locate"
      Hope this helps

    Good tutorial! I can't seem to get my MQ60 to work with the stand alone MagicHD software on my neither my Mac nor PC - just tons of networking problems. Will you be able to do future tutorials with consoles and networking?

    • @visualmash4311
      @visualmash4311  10 лет назад +1

      Hi Marty, sounds a good idea, you do need a very basic network understanding.
      But for now, are you giving all your computers static IP or do you have a DHCP server? If you don't know what that means, don't worry, we will move on.
      Try this, let me know what happens.
      Get a standard network cable and connect the console and your computer directly together, for the moment unplug any other network cables
      Assuming your MagicQ console has a IP like 2.9.200.xxx or 2.xxx.xxx.xxx
      Give the computer a Static IP, make sure it starts with 2
      for example an IP like
      2.9.100.11
      and a subnet exactly as below
      255.0.0.0
      Leave the other settings blank.
      If you're not sure how to set up a static IP, a Google search for something like "static IP setup on Windows" should help.
      please note, most of these examples will show ip's like 192.168.1.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 - These are what you need for normal home networking, but not a good idea to put the console on this same network.
      Hope this makes some sense and hopefully you get a connection??

    Hi, just a quick question why is it that one of my clips dose not fade in. I followed all your steps to the end of your video and PB2 just dose not want to fade in, it flicks on or off. Is there a setting I have change? Just having a play about with the blend. When I have the " blend " set to 000 I can fade in my media when I have blend set to 002 or 003 it just flicks on and off when I bring up the fader?

      Hmm, I would probably need to see your show file. I take it PB2 is controlling a different layer? Make sure it doesn't have attributes stored for other layers. Another thing worth checking - Select playback BP2 (press the [S] button above PB2) Then Press [Cue Stack] button - Top left of the console screen press the {VIEW OPTIONS} button, then under the {Fader} tab check the option 'Fader controls LTP (IPCB) chans' is set to 'No'

    Hi there, just a new-bee question. The overall use of MagicHD would be for the use of short video files/clips? You wouldn't want to run a full feature length film through it, reason being processing power etc? is this correct? Are you going to do some more MagicHD tutorials?

    • @visualmash4311
      @visualmash4311  8 лет назад

      Hi, I must admit I've not tried to use MagicHD to play a full feature length film. As you point out system spec will play a big part. Give it a go see what happens, let us know the outcome if you do :) I would like to do tutorials as I get time :)

      It's a great bit of kit. BTW MagicHD can be used as part of MagicQ PC (Win, Mac, Linux) without any MagicQ hardware :) So you can download MagicQ and play/test MagicHD for free with minor limitations. Also have you checked out the 'Chamsys Programmers and Users' Facebook page :) It's a great place for users at all levels. Your welcome to ask me here if Facebook is not your thing :)

    That was a brilliant guide! Would it possible to output this to a projector from Chamsys? So you could use it within a show? It would come in useful if you could for the kind of work I do.

      Hi Nathan, glad you found the guide useful :) thanks.
      Are you asking if a Chamsys MagicQ console can connect to a projector directly?
      If so, No, Not directly from the console, you will need a computer. You can run a projector directly from MagicQ PC if you have a second display out.
      To Run MagicHD from a MagicQ console you will need a computer for each media server you require with MaqicQ PC installed on it. MagicHD media server is installed with MagicQ PC. If you are dedicating a computer just for MagicHD then you you only need one display output and you can set MagicHD to run full screen on boot. Magic HD also remembers the screen it was running on if you do have multiple displays connected :)
      For details on how to set up a MagicQ Desk with MagicHD on a remote computer check out the Visual Mash Blog blog.visualmash.com/media-servers-vj-software/how-to-patch-magichd-on-a-magicq-console.html
      Hope this helps.

      Hey, I'm on MagicQ PC at the moment so I should be able to run it straight to a projector. But I'll probably get another computer at some point and run it separate to my lighting cues. Cheers again, Damian

      Nathan Smith Hey, you're welcome. Just plug it in the projector, make sure your desktop extends onto the projector, start MagicHD from MagicQ PC, drag the output over on to the projector and hit F11 to make it full screen :) Hope you get it going ok :)
