  • Ned Feehally is one of the Uk's top boulderers. He's also a master of training and one of the brains behind the amazing Beastmaker training boards (www.beastmaker.co.uk). So when he decided he'd help us make a couple of short movies about how to train on steep boards we thought we'd take him up on it.
So in these two short movies Ned and Wild Country's International Sales manager James Blay give an overview how to get going on steep borads and some advanced techniques as well.
Part One - Basics - deals with the basics of board climbing: from getting slapped on your first sessions, to what types of moves to do...
Big thanks to: Ned Feehally, www.beastmaker.co.uk; James Blay; The Climbing Works, climbingworks.com; Hot Aches, hotaches.com; Dom Bush, landandskymedia.co.uk.
Ned explains more about the concept behind the videos:
"Steep boards with poor hand holds and foot holds are a staple for those looking to improve their overall upper body strength. The idea of steep boards is to create sustained hard climbing where upper body and finger strength are the limiting factors. These videos give you an idea of some of the techniques you can use to train efficiently on a board to improve your overall strength for climbing."

This & part 2 are still the best Board training videos out there. Should be compulsory viewing for anyone gets into board climbing

Sure, but the rule of no drop knees, hooks or special techniques is nonsensical. You might be missing on the best drop knee and hook training. 7 year video anyway

@@Mylada true. i also think advising to use bad foot technique is not a good idea. just choose harder problems and do proper footwork.
