We love Khmer Surin in Thailand.

❤❤❤
Please more khmer interview!
Yes! We will try to make more videos like these interviewing the old Khmer speakers each time we visit Surin. We are very happy you enjoy these videos !
@@streetscenes7771 my great grand father is from surin. Funny how some went down to Cambodia. Other went up to surin during French era. Surin speak similar to Khmer in beatey meanchey and Siem reap.
@@hahahahah8396 this is a very interesting history that we should all document more. You should also interview your grandparents and people that would remember your surin ancestors too 👍👍👍
@@streetscenes7771 Hahahahah8396 is right, there are some Khmer that migrated in and out of Cambodia back in 1800s and 1900s. This happens not only in Surin, Thailand but also in the Mekong Delta region, where the community is Khmer, Viet and Southern Chinese.
Surin people are Cambodian people we are the same
We are Thai citizen not Cambodian. I'm a real Surin people. This old guy is not native to this region. His ancestors are Cambodian.
@@imperialkhmer6146don’t forget your roots and your ancestors origins due to siams invasions being land and culture thieves. Thanks
@@imperialkhmer6146if that’s how you think then stop using the name khmer
@@KritSecret You don't know anything about Siam history. I never deny my Khmer blood but we are not Khmer Cambodia. We are Khmer-Siamese. Very different DNA.
@@imperialkhmer6146 lol well I’m khmer even if I live. In America. you’re not khmer at all you’re just a siem.
My great grandparents and their 5 daughters (my grandmas) came from Prasat, Surin and moved to live under the foot hills of the Dangrek Mountain near Ban Kruat, Buriram in the year 1920s. My great grandfather founded the district of Banteay Ampil in Oddar Meanchey. He became a governor of the communal regions in that area. When the Siamese took over all the Northern and Western regions of Cambodia in the year 1941-1946. The Siamese king gave Absolute power to my great grandfather to become a Phraya or Overlord of that whole area because he was already a influencial person and spoke Siamese, Khmer, and Lao. My great grandfather ( Da Kol) became the first Surin-Siamese person to ever rule Cambodia directly and his influence and power spans to all of Isan and southern Laos combining an area of almost 100,000 square miles. He was feared by many but at the same time contributed alot to the society. RIP Da Kol (1890-1957?l. ❤🇹🇭
@@imperialkhmer6146 your great grandparents are khmer. Siem are the reason why many khmer people and people in Dangrek mountains got killed by Khmer Rouge. They gave your family a little, you worshipped them like a hero. Your khmer ancestors had fought with their lives to still have khmer traditions but you’re just a sellout. Sad

His ancestors are not native to this region.
