    Forgot to mention 90%+ of accidents involving trucks are caused by 4 wheelers. They should be teaching how to drive with trucks on tge road during licence class. People just dont get it out here.It's mind blowing what cars do to us out here.

      m 18 I agree. My grandparents were truck drivers, and they had idiots pull out in front of them, one vehicle had a toddler loose in the car. Fortunately they didn’t hurt anyone. But yeah, why make the truckers look bad when these four wheelers act like they have no sense?

    you did a good job driver. I have been out here over 25 years. Today there are hundreds of ways for us to loose our jobs. We are at the mercy of dispatchers who are sitting right beside the safety department. But neither of them are behind the wheel. Thank you for showing that we alone are in control of the truck.

    Can't always blame the truck driver!! More then half the time is the people in the cars not giving enough room or letting trucks pass or they pass the truck to pull in front to only slow down!! *People need to learn how respect the truck drivers* Because I'm sure more then half those "accidents they talked about where preventable.

      Go watch Abes channel. He is full of sh!t. The way trucking works is that if you start to get sleepy, dont start a new run. You go to sleep at the same time ever night. So does Gabe not know when that hour is coming? Once you commit to a run, it's yours. Dont start the run if you can't finish it. You need to be the judge of that. Trucking is a business like any other. The dispatcher didn't have time for the bs. It's like when you sign a contract. You dont just sign it then quit, otherwise it will be held against you. Simple and plain

      so true Abe got his 15 minutes of fame thats all he wanted and then commends ABC for the botch job they did unbelievable, not once did he mention he repowered the load after having 20 hours off and then claiming he was fatigued lmfao he should of slept instead of playing on his phone, but he wouldnt say that because then all these people on here commending him and saying how wrong it was for them to be mad at him probably wouldnt be doing so!! I can understand why the company was mad the dude had 20 hours off and says he cant drive 400 miles cause he is fatigued which is ridiculous and now they have to pay another drive to come deliver the load on top of having to pay the original driver and Abe too and now they are going to loose money on the load because they one have to pay three drivers for that single load and two the load is going to be late!! This is 100% Abe's fault he should of slept in that 20 hours he had off and if he was to tired which he had no reason to be but if he was then he should have told them he couldnt take the load instead he did the opposite and then wants to make the rest of us safe drivers that know how to manage are time now be painted with a broad brush and be made out to look like a bunch of unsafe unprofessional and dangerous drivers, all i can say is shame on him!! If he really wanted to do this for the drivers then he would have said the real problems like over regulation that causes us to run and race to beat the clock and us being underpaid and that we are making half of what the drivers made three decades ago cause are pay hasnt kept up with inflation and costs of living, and that 90% of semi vs car accidents are caused by the car not the semi!!

      If you're talking about now, probably nothing. In America, we always have the balance of money. To make a change, you need to build a body count. And that body count is the only thing that gets anyone to do anything. In Europe and Asia, it's all about, efficiency, reliability and safety, but, here in America, despite us being the richest and most powerful country in the world, we're all about that $$$$$.

  • @muffs55mercury61

    As a former over the road driver he is correct. Some of these companies do relentlessly pressure their drivers to get the load delivered at any cost. And dispatchers also fail to understand the human body clock. Drivers stay up all day waiting to get unloaded or reloaded and then are supposed to drive all night (especially if you have a Fed X or an Amazon or an automotive parts load) I believe Amazon doesn't care who gets killed, they only care about their load getting there.

    This makes me beyond angry. A tired trucker falling asleep at the wheel is why my mother is no longer alive, but he is... on top of that he never had any legal consequences for killing my mother. That was 26 years ago, are people really that blind on this topic to think that this is not a "normal" behavior for truckers? I would have been satisfied if my mothers killer had been charged for her death, but I guess it's too late now. I just pray that other family do not have to go through loosing someone because of a person/company's greed & negligence.

    • @AutismTakesOn
      @AutismTakesOn 3 года назад

      I don't think the trucker alone is responsible for your mother's death. Disasters don't just happen. They're a chain of critical events. If any link didn't happen, your mom would still be alive. I think the reason your mother died is something much bigger: And it has to do with politics and profitability. In the early years, America was the leader of infrastructure. However, during the 1950's and 60's, we fell behind the times. Deregulation was also a crucial factor. With no government support, companies will do anything to save a dime. That trucker might've been wrong to step into that truck. Absolutely. But he was probably under pressure to get paid to provide for his family. Truckers are paid by the mile. If they don't run, they don't get paid. With the minimum wage of $7.50 an hour, truckers need every penny if they want to afford food and clothes. In other countries, such as Europe and Asia, this is hardly a problem, as safety is a top priority, and the minimum wage is higher. So, the combination of pressure from the company, low wages and fatigue, that accident happened. The way the government looks at your mothers death is just another person. The way I look at it is your mother was another victim of a society where money is put ahead of safety. I'm sorry for your loss, and I think it's time that the government spent more money on safety. Are we going to spend money now, or spend lives later?

    • @AutismTakesOn
      @AutismTakesOn 3 года назад

      @@OrangeCat614 I do respect that. What I don't respect is anyone blaming ONE person for an accident. NEVER is only ONE person responsible for accident. I do, however, respect that you don't want to relive that moment, and the fact that you are angry that your mother got killed. I just wanted to emphasize the fact that, while it's easy to blame just one person for a deadly accident, it's NEVER just one person at fault. I know you're upset, but please understand that pointing blame at one person is not going to help. I'm more interested in preventing these types of accidents from happening again, so your mother would not have died for nothing, but died to prevent multiple others from suffering a similar fate. I'm sorry that I made you uncomfortable, I just need you to understand that.

      @@OrangeCat614 Okay... But how do you know he wasn't forced to work extra hours? How do you know he wasn't trying to make more money for his family? You're focusing on only WHAT happened. You're forgetting the two other parts: WHY it happened, and What can be done to prevent a reoccurrence. That driver wouldn't have worked himself to sleep for no good reason. I know, and the video has stated clearly, that truck drivers are being pressured to keep to time. So what if that truck driver was put into jail? What would that solve? It wouldn't solve the problem of truck drivers working under pressure from their superiors. If that truck driver could've taken a nap without putting anyone in danger, I believe he would have.

This is not a representation of truckers and is really a disgrace to the hard working safe truckers out there, the real problem is the over regulation that makes us have to race the clock daily to be able to make enough money to feed are families and pay the bills that is why truckers have to speed and have to run tired sometimes is because of over regulation and if we dont are families dont eat that week cause we have no paycheck so please do research before you agree with crap like this that is fake and not a true representation of whats truly going on!!

    That Abe Attallah has always been a sorry excuse for a truck driver. I've seen his videos before. One instance comes to mind when he drove for K&B out of Iowa. He recorded what I considered to be an elongated conversation with his dispatcher. He told the dispatcher he was too tired to complete the trip on time. Yes, the dispatcher attempted to push him on going. He gave more time than I would have to that dispatcher. Just tell them no, hang up, and go to bed.

    K&B did the same thing to me. Had me split breaking all week. By the end I was exhausted. Called them and told them I couldn't stay awake and the same dispatchers bitched me out. I quit right after that and went to a company that was not forced dispatch. They want to control where you stop, how long you stop for, and when. If you aren't up when they think you should be up even if its 0300 in the am, they will have other drivers bang on ur door. They even called the cops one time and said they hadn't heard from me in hrs to do a wellness check. Must had only been asleep a few hrs. Then I was told in bad weather if I needed to chain up over a mountain to get the ld there on time that I better do it. Worst company there is!!!

    Part of the problem is that some drivers get paid by the mile. When you get paid by the mile you need to go as far as you can as fast as possible to make money as a company driver. I did that for a little over a year and that was enough. I get paid by the hour now and easily make more than double each week. Getting paid by the hour I don't have to kill myself to make stops(w/out milking it) Safely. For the most part truck drivers are more safe than "four wheelers",
    and cause fewer accidents. Many of us drive hundreds of miles a day without incident.

This was 100% Abe's fault no doubt about it and i would be pissed to if a driver who had 20 hours off and drives for two hours then calls and says im to fatigued to keep going like wtf its not the companies job to baby sit you and make sure you sleep when you are on a break and now they have to pay the original driver before the repower and have to pay abe and the other driver who took it after abe couldnt and its going to be late so the company is loosing money!! If he cant be smart enough o sleep then tell the company you cant take it dont tell them i got this and then call two hours later and say i cant make it and now they have to scramble and waste money to send another driver out to get it from you and deliver it!!! He should of been fired!

DOT set one time they are going to do something about it but never did. Same we show up a the receiver ore shipper and tell them I have 4 hours left. You bump the dock 3 hours later. After another 3 hours your loaded. They tell you get of the property but the law ses no parking on the street and I am out of hours. They say we don't care. We will call the cops and even they will say move.

      Since you seem to be behind times, there already IS a law!
      We have to take a 10 hour break, after 11 hours of driving.
      We have to take at least a 30 minute break within 8 hours, after we start our 10 hour driving period!
      The trucking industry is the most regulated!!!!!
      The 10 hour break is supposed to be used for sleeping!!!
      Do you want to dictate that spy cameras be used next, to make sure the drivers are sleeping?

      It would take too long to explain logbook rules, but in addition to the hours previously mentioned, there is a 14 hour on duty clock that starts when a driver starts his shift. For example, if a driver has to wait 7 hours to unload & reload, then that cuts 4 hours off of the 11 he can drive before he has to take the 10 hour break. Plus he cannot drive more than 70 hours in 8 days. Not all, but most bigger companies are on electronic logs, which prevents a driver from cheating. A company or dispatcher CANNOT force a driver to go over his available time! It's not unusual to wait 4 or 5 hours or longer, to load or unload.
      your right, I wouldn't claim to know everything in your field of expertise.

    Direct Transit
    This Sioux City-area based trucking company was cruising along registering good growth rates each year until it had grown to a carrier that generated about $140 million in 1995. It was then that DTI agreed to be purchased by Schneider, who later backed out of the deal after not being able to come to final closing terms in December of 1996.
    Swift Transportation then stepped in and agreed to purchase DTI, but a list of issues including foreclosure, bankruptcy, and tax evasion charges brought all deals to a halt.
    Charles G. Peterson, who was in the process of selling DTI, pleaded guilty to income tax evasion, admitting to pocketing excess money from truck and trailer leases.
    The plea agreement was on one of the three counts of tax evasion he was charged with in April 1997. Mr. Peterson's plea said between 1989 and 1990 he diverted at least $750,000 from the leases, evading taxes of between $200,000 and $350,000

    Often times it is a four wheelers fault. I get cut off, or have four wheelers trying to race down a ramp to get ahead of me all the time, hell, today alone, in va, i had 2 cars within 20 miles merge infront of me going 45 mph, in a 65 mph zone, and i had to press my brakes and drop down to 45 because of them, and no, i couldnt move over because when i put my signal on, the dumb ass 4 wheelers started speeding up to not get stuck behind me. So, yes, car drivers do contribute a GREAT deal to making trucks "dangerous" on the road. Car drivers dont realize that when we are close to 80,000 lbs, and its raining very hard out like it was today for me, it created a big hazard when they put me in a situation where i have to press my brakes hard to slow down, and no, i was not speeding

    Good video, yet...There are an average of 53 million trucks on USA roads at any given time! So your numbers aren't really that high! You mentioned that with accidents between trucks and cars, the truck's driver usually walks away without or just minor injury! Factor this in, "It's usually the car driver's fault! As a truck driver with over 25 yrs experience(I Don't know it all), I'm really disturbed that the "Industry" allows (know it all) new drivers behind the wheel of trucks w/out adequate, complete training! Schools are part of this prob by misinforming new folks that their school will provide the "Training!" Nope! Schools only provide "Instruction" for the Student to aquire their CDL! Training is supposed to begin with student being trained by an experienced ( preferably 15 yrs or more) driver!(while out on, over the road) This training usually involves getting 50K miles/and or 240 hrs like US Xpress Required! Nobody tells you this, you're supposed to figure this out on your own but...The goal is not only to aquire the skills through training but to get rid of the "Four-Wheeler"(driver of a car, me 1st) Mentallity! In favor of the $Buck, the Industry doesn't require this now! They just want bodies as steering wheel holders! Small, mom&pop companies and worse, big companies with their school mills like SWIFTD(d for dude), Western Express, CRST, etc..are making this issue much worse. At best, new drivers now get 6000 mi or 100hrs to pass training. Seen Company Testors pass people even after having a booboo during test! Sadly, most new drivers don't make it past a year! Most of these folks don't have a clue what they're getting into after getting "BS'd" by Recruiter regarding the BIG $'s they're going to he making! Here's some #'s: 0-1 yrExp =Newbie. Over 1yr-under 15yrs= Teenager. Over 15 yrs Experience = Adult! Yes the "Fatigue" issue is a problem! Apparently these folks were too dumb to recognize this and pull over and take a nap! Worse, personal greed, or Corporate Greed pressured driver to keep going! Too dumb! ATA only cares about the companies and they are comprised of Company Executives. They say 2/3, I say 3/4. But remember, investigations are biased towards trucks! If DOT (respectfully in persuant of they're job, that they do quite well!), finds a prob with driver's logs, condition of driver fatigued or (like they smoked a joint last month or had a beer last night) ; and/or a mechanical issue like brakes, or a overweight issue, now it's all of a sudden the drive's fault! In my opinion it should be! Please don't take Offense to what I'm about to say because it's a Tragic Situation all the way around, and I'm not in any way, shape, or form condoning Walmart driver's actions or lack of! But Walmart driver's life is destroyed (he has to live with this the rest of his life) and he, 8yrs(?) Experience. I feel for McNair's kids! I really hope they find forgiveness in their hearts for this guy! I've found a usefull tool in getting to a Safespot near the end of my shift:a couple of King Size Reese's peanut butter "White Chocolate" cups really work. They not only give you the sugar boost but also a protein boost! Again, not shaming the newbies, I'm shaming the Industry for allowing this prob that keeps getting worse and worse as time goes on! Thanks for vid!

      @@brockmiddleton1991 you really don't get how this works. After you get a full night's sleep it's very difficult to go back to sleep again after being up for only an hour or two. Imagine you got off work at 9:00 PM. You know you're expected to work again at 7:00 AM so you don't waste much time getting to bed. You get up and ready and you go to work at 7:00, but at 7:30 you're told to clock out and come back at 5:30 pm that same day. Are you going to be able to get enough rest by 5:30 PM to safely drive a big rig 400 miles in the dark?

  • @lawneymalbrough4309
    @lawneymalbrough4309 6 лет назад

    Drivers are under pressure to deliver their loads in a certain amount of time. There's little danger to them in thier big rigs unless the rig overturns. They'll run right over a small car of they hit it from brhind. They are forced to drive too many hours a day and exceed speed limits ot make their deliveries because retlaiers and other businesses need their supplies in a certain time frame. This must be changed! I personally beleive that these rigs carrying fifty tons or more of cargo should never under any ciurcumstance be traveling more then fifty miles per hour. Forty five would be better. Listen to those dispatchers! They sit in a small office for ehight hours and answer phones for a living! They dont know squat! They're boss man yes men! Nothing more! These big rigs are not just a danger to the public, they also account for most of the wear and tear on our highways. Much of the merchandise going over one thousand miles should be sent by rail to a location within fifty miles of it's final destination. Then packed into a truck and sent the rest of the way. This would revitalize the rail buisness and take many big rigs off of our highways. In fact most of the trucks doing short trips like that would not need to hold fifty tones. They could mostly be five tone trucks. This would allive driver fatigue and highway dmage. We'd have safer highways to drive on. And travelrs would be able to use the rail system instead of jets! Personally I've alwys wanted to ride a train for few days. You can see the country as you travel. It does cost a bit more now because you need a sleeper car for long journeys, but hey! It's still working in Europe! Rail comapnies could cut costs of travelers by installng sleeping pdos in the sleeper cars. They could be like those Japanese hotles where you sleep in alittle pod like large coffin. They could stack them two high all along the lseeper cars side and perhps even put two rows of them if the sleeper car is wide enough. You don't really need a room to sleep. just a safe place to close your eyes. In the Navy that's how sailors live. They all have small bunk wih cutrain on the side for prvacy and they watch TV in the cmomon room. They go to the library to read. If I could surviv seven months living like that a traveler can survive week if he has to. In the past railroads had several specialty cars in their trains. There was a dinning care and a lounge car for smoking. They also had suites for sleeping. Before modern highways and big rigs those railroad compainies made money with passenger tickets. There's no reason they can't do that again if the ogvernment provides the right incentincves by making laws that limit the distance big rigs can travel on our roads or limiting the tonnage They can carry. These days we have road trains! Rigs pulling two or three trailers behind them. You can't tell me that's safe! If a company needs to move that much cargo across the country they should hire a railroad! Roadways are for cars and other vehicles not for trains!

      +A08041988 One more thing..locomotive engineers (train operators) often have alarms in cabs and if not activated (the operator falls asleep, is ill, etc), the emergency brakes are automatically applied. What if this sort of technology is deployed into the trucking industry?
      Now unfortunately, there is not an exclusive right of way for truckers, unlike trains operators. Therefore, a big rig suddenly going into emergency brake mode would cause a hazard for other motorists and possible pedestrians. Any ideas?

This is not a representation of truckers and is really a disgrace to the hard working safe truckers out there, the real problem is the over regulation that makes us have to race the clock daily to be able to make enough money to feed are families and pay the bills that is why truckers have to speed and have to run tired sometimes is because of over regulation and if we dont are families dont eat that week cause we have no paycheck so please do research before you agree with crap like this that is fake and not a true representation of whats truly going on!!
